March Empties | 2019

Hey everyone! Spring is in the air and it's time for my March Empties!
Face
Burt’s Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes (10 count) - These were not my favourite. I found the scent to be weird and the wipes were rather dry. They felt like they could break apart if I were to use too much pressure. I wouldn’t recommend these and I don’t have sensitive skin so I can’t speak on that.

BiorĂ© Deep Cleansing Pore Strips for the Face (8 count) - I have mentioned these in the past and they are currently on clearance everywhere because I have a feeling that these are being discontinued. They are my favourite so it makes me really sad because since they are designed for the face, they are larger so I apply them onto my nose to remove even more of my whiteheads!

M. Asam Aqua Intense Ampoule Beauty Treatment (28 days) - My Mom and I decided to split the ampoules since there are 28 of them. I have used their ampoules in the past and really enjoyed using them. You get the freshest ingredients and they come in a glass container that you have to break to get to the formula. A little goes a long way and I end up applying this onto my face, neck as well as my chest. I really can’t say enough good things about this product!

Sheet Masks
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrogel Mask (30 g) - I have used this mask in the past and really love it! Even Jackie Aina mentions in her video her love for this mask and when she sees it in store, she takes the whole rack with her! There is also a lot of extra essence which is great for another use on your face, neck, chest, arms, etc. This is great especially for adding moisture back into your skin and when I took off my mask, my skin absorbed pretty much all of it! Look out for these when they go on sale and I was even lucky enough to get one in a Christmas gift! I do have an entire dedicated review on both Neutrogena Hydrogel Masks that you can check out!

Origins Flower Fusion Raspberry Sheet Mask (1 count) - This sheet mask retails for $9 and you can feel the quality in the actual mask itself. It fit well on my face, the material is thicker than what I’m used to and it was not overly saturated. The scent doesn’t smell like raspberry to me and it suggests to keep it on for 10 minutes but I left mine on for longer. I honestly feel like it was good to try once but I won’t repurchase it because I really didn’t see results as this mask claims to refresh and revitalize the skin.
Update: It's now $9.50 on the Sephora site.

Laneige Water Pocket Sheet Mask Sleeping Mask (Replenishing) (16 ml) - I started trying out many different products from Laneige and wanted to see how this one compares as I have had great luck with some of their other skincare items. I first applied the Water Bank Essence onto my skin after toning my skin and then I applied this mask. It claims that this is a non-slip, high adhesion mask. It was comfortable to wear and it is also one of the thinnest sheet masks that I have ever worn. This is for all skin types and they use hydro ionized mineral water in the formula. I left on this sheet mask for 20 minutes, pat in the extra serum, used the Water Bank Eye Gel and then spray my face with a facial spray. I do agree that the mask did not move around on my face, that it was comfortable to wear but this isn’t amongst my favourite sheet masks. It is $8 per sheet mask and they do number the different sheet masks so you can tell them apart. I much prefer the Water Sleeping Mask they have that come in a twist off jar as I feel that you get more bang for your buck. I think the sheet mask is now discontinued.
 Bath & Body Works
Gentle Foaming Hand Soap in Pumpkin Cupcake (259 ml) - The notes in this scent include: baked pumpkin, vanilla frosting and golden honey. This smells great and was a great Fall/Winter scent.

Gentle Foaming Hand Soap in Toasted Vanilla Chai (259 ml) - I really liked this scent and this is one that I actually didn’t get sick of even though I finished the bottle completely! There is tea tree oil inside the formula and I really like the packaging! The notes include: whipped vanilla, spun sugar and winter spice.

Hair
Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Tea Tree Scalp Treatment (30 ml) - This was good to use at first but the more I used it, the less effective it became. I felt the need to start using more for it to actually work and then it stopped working altogether on my scalp. You really don’t get that much product in the bottle (30 ml) for $41 and I wouldn’t repurchase it again. You can check out my dedicated review on my blog about this scalp treatment.

The Body Shop Rainforest Moisture Shampoo (60 ml) - This is targeted towards dry hair and includes: pracaxi oil, manketti nut oil as well as Community Fair Trade honey. There is no silicones, sulphates, colourants or parabens in this formula. I did travel with this and it did not leak. My only complaint is that it doesn’t lather very well and I no longer can find it on The Body Shop’s website!

Love Beauty & Planet Hope and Repair Coconut Oil & Ylang Ylang 3-in-1 Benefit Oil (118 ml) - This hair oil smelled great, lasted me quite a long time and made my hair feel very soft! I did have to unscrew the top to get the last bit of product out and the sticker was peeling from all the use but those are just 2 minor things. The company has a great message behind it as the packaging they use is made up of recycled bottles. This product has been discontinued. I received this hair oil when I went to the Chick Advisor Spring Cleaning Event.

Teeth
Crest 3D Whitestrips Glamorous White (28 strips & 14 treatments) - These do not have the best reviews online but honestly, they did the job for my teeth. I use whitestrips once a week and usually forget to take them off at the 30 minute mark so they stay on my teeth longer. It claims to remove up to 10 years of stains from coffee, wine and smoking. My teeth are generally pretty white since I use these once a week and I have repurchased from this brand several times in the past.
Promo/Samples - Face
Sothys Biological Skin Peeling The lady who did my facial gave me a few free samples at the end and this one has so far been my favourite! You apply the product onto your face and leave it on for about two minutes. You then want to rub it off in circular motions using your hands and I let the dead skin/leftover product fall into the sink. I then go in and rinse my face. Let me tell you that my skin felt so soft and I loved the result! I am considering purchasing the full size because it was that good!

Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Peel-Off Mask (10 g) - This product claims to unclog pores by removing dirt and excess oil. I am an oily faced girl and need all the help that I can get in that department! I liked the scent of it and the mask itself was pink smelling just like grapefruit! The only thing I don’t like about peel-off masks in general is that I feel like there is more product inside the packaging but you never can get it out! Anyway, you want to avoid your hairline, eyebrows and leave it on your face for at least 20 minutes to allow it to fully dry. I do have to say that this mask peeled off easily compared to some other ones that I have tried in the past and finding an edge was pretty easy! My face felt soft and smooth! I did receive this for testing purposes from Chick Advisor.

Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Clay Mask (10 g) - This is a single-use pink clay mask that smells like grapefruit that helps to: absorb oil, dirt as well as impurities. The first ingredient is water and I have to say that it was rather messy to apply. If you have long nails, then I would highly recommend that you apply this with a brush. It is expensive for only being able to get one use of it as you can buy a bottle of Freeman’s for example for about the same price. It did work well on my oily skin though but there’s other products on the market that you could stretch your dollar further with. I also received this item from Chick Advisor for testing purposes.

Body
Nivea Care Intensive Nourishment Non-Greasy Cream (400 ml) - I received this for testing purposes from Chick Advisor last year. This cream lasted me throughout the very dry winter season and I used up every last drop. It made my legs feel moisturized and made them look shiny! They slightly changed the look of the packaging but I’m pretty sure that it is still the same product and the amount of mls you are getting is the exact same.

March Empties | 2018

Hey everyone and Happy Spring! Let's see which products I used up this March!
Face
ELF Hydrating Gel Melt Cleanser (40 g) - This was featured in my Disappointing Products | Volume 2 post as well as my YouTube video dedicated to this product. Needless to say, I don’t like it and it doesn’t break down my makeup good enough for my liking. I ended up using this as an initial cleanse on my face before I went in with my regular cleanser. I would never recommend this product to anyone and using the last bit of the product was gross - not even worth it! Pretty sure that it has been discontinued.

The Body Shop Pomegranate Firming Serum (30 ml) - I’m pretty sure that they discontinued this serum because it is no longer listed on there and the pomegranate category is completely gone. This serum is made with organic pomegranate and it helps to reduce to signs of aging. Your skin is supposed to feel firmer and more toned. I did like this serum, I liked the scent of it, the packaging was compact, great to travel with, easy to use with the pump and easy to travel with. I mixed in a pump of this particular product with my oil at night and liberally applied all over my face as well as down my neck. I did find this product to make my skin more toned and I wish that they still sold it! I do have an entire dedicated review on this product on my old domain that you can check out.

Sheet Masks
Tony Moly I’m Real Pomegranate Mask (21 g) - This wasn’t amongst one of my favourite sheet masks from the Tony Moly brand, but it wasn’t a bad mask. It had a unique scent to it that did not smell like pomegranate, but there was a cooling sensation on the face. This is meant for firming the skin and it is supposed to help with elasticity.

Innisfree It’s Real Squeeze Mask in Black Berry (20 ml) - My first impression was when I was initially tearing open the packaging, it appeared that the essence looks like it had a milky consistency to it. That is one of my biggest pet peeves with sheet masks and even though I still used the mask as it fit my face well, it put me off from this particular mask.

Innisfree It’s Real Squeeze Mask in Kiwi (20 ml) - This was such a bizarre sheet mask to use because after I tore open the packaging, it was all the way at the bottom and when I unfolded it, it honestly looked like someone rung it out with their hands. It didn’t smell like kiwi, it was saturated in some kind of lotion but it did feel cooling on the face. I wasn’t the biggest fan of this sheet mask overall.
Body
Dove Advanced Care Go Fresh Cool Essentials Anti-Perspirant (45 g) - This has a nice cucumber scent and it claims to deliver 48 hour odour protection. I’m not sure about that claim but this is pretty much my favourite deodorant. I have repurchased it several times, it’s great to travel with, I love the scent and you can’t go wrong with the price point.

Dove Shower Foam Foaming Body Wash in Shea Butter with Warm Vanilla (400 ml) - This bottle actually took me a decent time to finish up and I really liked the scent of it. The formula definitely made my skin soft and I really liked that it came with a pump. I do have an entire review on this product and I would certainly repurchase this body wash in the future!
Bath & Body Works
Nourishing Hand Soap in Marshmallow Pumpkin Latte (236 ml) - The formula contains pumpkin butter which feels really nice on the hands. This is a great hand soap to have in the house especially when guests come over. The packaging looks great displayed and the scent isn’t too overpowering. It would be best to use this scent in the Fall but it is in my March Empties so who am I to say when to use it?

Gentle Foaming Hand Soap with Coconut Oil in Garden Sage & Mint (259 ml) - I really enjoyed the scent of this hand soap and it reminded me of men’s cologne. The notes include: fresh mint, tea leaves and geranium.

Car Fragrance Refill in Crisp Morning Air (6 ml) - I purchased this from their Semi-Annual Sale. This has a very clean scent and I love having it in my car!
Teeth
Equate Professional White Whitening Strips (20 EasyFit Treatments) - I really do not like these and I honestly just purchased these to see if they were an affordable option to the Crest 3D White Strips and they certainly are not. These don’t whiten my teeth very well and I found several times that when I am peeling these off my teeth, they split in half! I would not recommend these and when you are removing them from the packaging, there’s a weird scent to them.

Miscellaneous/Other
Equate Tearless Baby Shampoo (592 ml) - This brand is exclusive to Walmart and I have repurchased it several times. It is comparable to the Johnson’s Baby Shampoo but this one is cheaper. I find that both work the same and I tend to pick this one up more frequently while in-store.

Emergen-C in Raspberry (30 packets) - This has been my go-to when I am feeling myself about to get sick, when I am sick or when I am around a lot of people and I’m trying to avoid getting sick. You just add this into your water and mine is in the raspberry flavour. This is a vitamin and mineral supplement that contains 1,000 mg of vitamin C. It contains: antioxidants, electrolytes, key nutrients and 7 B vitamins. You just simply add it to your water and shake it up. My all time favourite flavour is lemon lime but this one is good too.
Promo/Samples - Body
Cetaphil RestoraDerm Nourishing Body Wash (10 ml) - This was a generous sized sample that I received from a show and it actually gave me 3 uses. This is targeted to those who have dry, itchy skin and it is Dermatologist recommended. This did the job, it wasn’t my favourite and although I would use it again in the future, I wouldn’t run out the door just yet to replenish it in my shower routine.

Teeth
Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief Lasting Fresh Toothpaste (75 ml) -I also featured a tube of this toothpaste in my February Empties | 2018 post. I still really love the design on the toothpaste tube and I still look forward to using it each morning. The only con is that it is very hard to squeeze out the last bit of toothpaste from this particular tube.

Supplements
AOR Eco Series Cogni Omega3 500 mg (6 softgels) - These supplements were very easy to swallow, they are vegan, third party tested, non-GMO, gluten-free and are made in Canada. They are supposed to help with cognitive functions and these did not hurt my stomach nor did they have any trace of a fishy smell to them. I really enjoyed taking these and just wish that they weren’t so expensive.
Food/Drink
Special K Protein Bar in Cashew Caramel Pretzel (36 g) - These flavours pair nicely together and it has a good crunch to it. The cashew taste isn’t overpowering and I love salty foods as I was instantly drawn to this one. I haven’t seen this sold here in Canada yet but I did receive it free to try at a show. I like this flavour better than the double chocolate one.

David’s Tea - Turmeric Glow (5.5 g) - I really enjoyed this tea and it comes in a tea bag - it is not loose tea. The ingredients include: carrots, ginger, turmeric, pineapple, sugar, beetroot, sweet blackberry leaf and natural flavouring. I drank this tea black and I saved the tea bag so that I could enjoy another cup of the Turmeric Glow the next day. I steeped my bag for 5 minutes in hot water in case you are wondering.
David’s Tea - Lemon Cayenne Cleanse (3.5 g) - This had a really clean taste and I drank it black. I steeped it for 3-4 minutes and it was just right. The ingredients include: apple, citric acid, white tea, lime pieces and peel, carrot, rose hip peel, lemon peel, chilli peppers, sunflower blossoms and natural lemon flavouring.

David’s Tea - Organic Detox (4 g) - This is a green tea, it’s low in caffeine and it is also organic. The contents of this particular tea bag really intrigued me and I took a photo for you to see. It includes: rooibos sencha, ginger, ginkgo, lemongrass and juniper.
Flamin’ Hot Lemon Crunchy Cheetos (240.9 g) - You can only buy this currently in the USA and you can’t get them in Canada. That’s why I asked my friend to pick me up a bag while she was in NYC and it was definitely worth the wait! I love this flavour and the lime on the hot Cheetos makes it that much better! It is also made with real cheese and of course you will have hot Cheetos fingers after no matter how many times you wash your hands! I do like the packaging and who doesn’t love Chester Cheetah?
