July Empties | 2015

Hey everyone! It's that time again... We are wrapping another month and all my lovely readers get to take a look at all the products that I have used up for the month of July!

Hair
L'Oreal Paris Hair Expertise OleoTherapy Deep Recovery Mask - This product includes 6 different flower oils, is 100% vegan, has natural botanicals inside and lasted me quite some time. I did enjoy using this mask but I read a sign in the store saying that they were clearing this item out because it is being discontinued. I hope not and maybe I am misinformed but I couldn't find much information about this product online. Anyway, the smell is not my favourite but the product made my hair very smooth to the touch. I would apply a nice layer onto my hair and sleep with it until I would wake up the next morning to wash it out of my hair. I did notice that this particular product is 50 ml less than some of the other hair masks L'Oreal offers.

Face
Up & Up Regular Cotton Rounds (100 count) - I have used up yet another pack of my favourite cotton rounds! These are made with 100% cotton and  are soft yet durable to get the job done. I use this as in conjunction with my toner after I cleanse my face and this just helps to remove any leftover makeup that wasn't washed away.

Kiehl's Rosa Arctica Youth Regenerating Cream with Rare "Resurrection Flower" - I enjoyed this product overall and it had a nice smell to it. I found that it was thick enough to use as a night cream. I tried another sample of the Kiehl's face cream in a previous empties post and didn't like it but this one really surpassed all my expectations! I do not think that I would purchase a full size version of it because it is quite expensive but I did enjoy trying it out though!

BiorĂ© Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser (7 ml) - This sample pack came in the box of Biore Nose Strips that I had purchased. This sample lasted me a few face washes and I really enjoyed using it! Despite reading the word 'charcoal' in the title and ingredient list, it is not messy - no staining! It comes out black but when you start to lather, it turns into a white foam. No mess!

Clean & Clear Morning Burst Facial Cleanser  - This was a very standard and basic face wash. I would not go out of my way to re-purchase it but if I was in a pinch at the drugstore, I would consider buying this one. It contains 'bursting beads' which is nice and helps exfoliate your skin a little bit. I am not a morning person so the claim on the bottle about this product "wakes you up," doesn't apply to me unfortunately. I used it as my morning face wash.

Elizabeth Grant Collagen Re-Inforce Cleansing Oil (115 ml) - I'm sorry but this has to be one of the worst face products that I have ever used! It was so bad that I stopped using it for many months and later rediscovered it in my cupboard. I forced myself to finish the bottle so that it would not go to waste. I hate the smell of it, the product is VERY messy to use, (I tried to only use it in the shower,) and it BURNED when it got in my eyes. I understand that a face product is not meant for your eyes but when applying it on the face, it is bound to get in the eyes accidentally sometimes. It was simply awful and I do NOT recommend this product at all!

Hands
Quo Nail Polish Remover - Strengthening - This was probably one of the worst nail polishes removers that I have ever used. It has messy, terrible packaging and the smell is very strong. I honestly just wanted to finish the bottle up before it expired and will not be repurchasing the old formula again. However, I believe they either repackaged or reformulated this nail polish remover and if it is different, I will only consider purchasing again if the formula has changed.

Kiehl's Ultimate Strength Hand Salve (30 ml) - I received this deluxe sample a few months back and I really wanted to like this product but I just couldn't. I didn't care for the smell, the product itself is so-so and I would not purchase a full size of this hand cream. I do have dry hands but I find that other products that I have tried in the past work better.

L'Occitane Delightful Rose Hand Cream with 20% Shea Butter (10 ml) - This was also a sample that I have been trying out and I do love the rose scent. I am not completely sold on the formula. I have to apply it twice in a short period of time because I do have dry hands and I really need to lock in that moisture. This is the perfect size to take when traveling or in your purse when you are on the go!

Body
The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream (15 ml) - I bought this cream before my first surgery because I wanted to apply it to my scars to help heal them. It is hard to find something like this because most products are containing vitamin e and aren't the real deal. I highly recommend this and this is a great product for putting on tattoos for the after-care portion of the healing process. It was only $5 so you really can't go wrong with that price point! This little tub went a long way and lasted me 7 months; Two surgeries later and I was applying this product almost every single day.

Bath & Body Works Sensual Amber Body Lotion - This is a repurchase for me. I love this scent because it is something a little bit different from what I'm used to. I would describe it more of a warm, sexy smelling fragrance that is perfect to use in the fall season. There is also a note of vanilla which I think completes to fragrance.

Vitamins
Nature's Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies with Biotin (80 count) - This product really needs no introduction. If you have been reading my posts for awhile, you know that this is my holy grail and I have repurchased this many times. The only thing that I have noticed that is different is the top where the gummies come out of. It used to be a flip-up top and now it is a twist off which I actually prefer to be honest!

Nature's Bounty Vitamin D3 Gummies (90 count) - These gummies "helps in the development and maintenance of bones and teeth." I honestly didn't see a difference and didn't feel as though these gummies did anything for me. You only need to take one a day and this bottle lasted me for 3 months.

Teeth
DenTek Triple Clean Floss Picks (90 count) - This is by far my new favourite affordable brand of flossers! They do the job, really get in there and most importantly, they do not break! They are really deep cleaning and remove anything! I can't rave about these enough and finally found my new holy grail flossers!

Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda Concealer Palette & Brightening Powder Thoughts

Hey everyone! I want to talk to you about two Sonia Kashuk products today. The first one is the Brightening Powder and I have been using it when I set my under eye concealer. I do not use the puff that it comes with and I'll be throwing it out because I much prefer to use one of my own brushes, but I wanted to show it to you for the purpose of this post.

I do feel as though this product can be on the messy side so be warned! It does a decent job at setting my concealer but it isn't long lasting or long wearing in my opinion. I do get creasing with this powder as the day or night drags on. I also feel as though it doesn't brighten my under eye area. It just sets my creams and liquids under the eye area for a short period of time. I do not consider this to be a dupe of any high-end product.

The second product is one that I have heard nothing but good things about and it's the Hidden Agenda Concealer Palette. It comes as a quad and I purchased mine in the shade light - 07. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall seeing this in the white packaging a few years ago. It is now in the black packaging and I'm not certain if they also changed their formula. Anyway, I like that there are multiple shades so that you are able to get your perfect shade by mixing two or more colours together.

I have yet to try this concealer but I have high hopes for it! I heard that the colours are very creamy and super blendable. Let me know in the comments down below if you have ever used it and how it worked on your skin type! I will keep you posted on how I am finding this concealer quad.

The Life Apparel - What's Inside The Mystery Package?

Hey everyone! I tried searching online to find out what other people had received in their mystery package that they ordered from The Life Apparel also known as the official clothing line of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. I couldn't find anything so I decided to make a blog post sharing with you what was in mine to potentially help someone out.

As shown above, those are the four t-shirts that I received in my package. I may cut one into a muscle tee or even cut the collar off but that's just my preference. They also gave me three flyers: one speaking about Caine's debut album, the other is about E-40's official merchandise and lastly, where The Life Apparel's store is located in Los Angeles.

The shipping took a while, but I live in Canada so keep that in mind. This is not the first order that I have placed with The Life Apparel; I have actually ordered from them numerous times in the past because BTNH is my all time favourite hip hop group and I am always willing to support them!

If you are interested in placing an order online, the mystery package retails for only $20 which is a great deal because it works out to be $5 per shirt.

Keep in mind: This mystery package is in size small only.

Skindinavia - The Makeup Finishing Spray Review & Thoughts

Hey everyone! Today's topic will be on a new makeup setting spray that I have been trying out lately. It's by Skindinavia and I purchased the oil control one because I have combination skin that's more on the oily side right now due to the hot summer weather!

In case you're wondering, it is a fine mist that is oil-free, cruelty-free, hypoallergenic and paraben-free. It comes in 0.66 fl oz (travel size,) 4 fl oz (medium size what I purchased for $29 USD,) and 8 fl oz (large version for $39 USD.) The Makeup Primer Spray and The Makeup Finishing Spray displayed above, are both 0.66 fl oz and were free gifts with my purchase of the 4 fl oz bottle. There are also bundle packages for sale on their web site so be sure to get that out to save yourself a few extra coins!

What I like about this product is that it is an anti-shine formula that absorbs quickly and prolongs the longevity of your makeup! It really helps it stay in place without melting off. It does not feel sticky on the face and is very easy to apply. If you are wondering how to apply it, there are directions on the back of the bottle instructing you to "spray 2-4 times in an X and T formation" after giving bottle a good shake.

The only con is that you can only buy it at: makeup shows, their web site or Amazon. It is not sold in retail stores. It is a great item for using in your kit if you freelance and there is another spray that is specifically designed for brides!

I would recommend this setting spray to you because it has brought me great results! I need to try out the primer a little bit more before having a final opinion on it.

Tip: Shake well before you use the product so all the ingredients are activated when spraying the product on your face!

Fourth Of July Outfit Ideas | Transitioning From Day To Night

Happy Independence Day to all my fellow Americans!

I recently got inspired by my Converse sneakers and decided to show you a look that I recently put together. It is the exact same outfit and all that I changed were the shoes! I already had all these sneakers in my closet and felt that it was the perfect time to pull them out! The red shirt that I'm wearing underneath is actually a dress that I tucked into my jeans. It was the same one that I wore for my Valentine's Day OOTD/OOTN.

Day Look Outfit Details:
- Blue & Gold Studs - Hautelook
- Cat Eye Sunglasses - Dynamite
- Alex & Ani Shining Sea Expandable Wire Bracelet in Rose Gold
- American Flag Printed Vest - Forever 21
- Red Dress (used as a top) - Forever 21
- White Ripped Jeans - Sabo Skirt
- Converse sneakers were either bought in the USA or gifted to me

Moving on to the night time look! It still incorporates all the colours of the American flag yet is still comfortable enough and still chic to spend a night out on the town! I tried to tone it down and let the necklace and shoes do the talking! I put my hair down, threw on a bright yellow statement necklace and put on my favourite pair of red heels!

Night Look Outfit Details:
- Bright Yellow Statement Necklace - Hope's
- White Tank Top - Forever 21
- Blue Skirt - Urban Planet
- Red Lace Up Heels - Hope's
Lips: What I used to get the red lip for both looks is NYX lip liner in #817 'Red Hot' & ELF Matte Lip Color in 'Rich Red' on top.

The white wedges are pictured below in case red heels aren't your thing and you can slip into these comfortable wedges from Hautelook instead or wearing heels for your night out! A girl can never have too many options right?

What will you be wearing this weekend? Share it with me in the comments down below!

Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash First Impression

Hey everyone! Today I decided to try out a product that I have been hearing everyone and their mother talking about lately which is the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara. It is apparently inspired by hair rollers.

As you can tell if you compare the first two photos at the top, it did in fact curl my lashes upwards and I did not use an eyelash curler at all because I wanted to see how well this mascara performed without it. Keep in mind: naturally, I have long lashes that are straight and have no curl to them. It did in fact lengthen my lashes but in reality, I look for a good mascara that can add a ton of volume, not so much for length.

I like that it is build-able and I don't have any complaints about the brush head. Just to note: it did stay on my lashes for the entire day and I had little to no fall-out before washing off my makeup. It is not a waterproof formula and taking it off is not a problem. Keep in mind that I did wear this mascara for 8-10 hours today. The photo below is to show you how it wore throughout the day and I did not touch it up once. It did in fact loose a little bit of the curl as the day dragged on but it did not smudge on me which is even more important in my books. It did in fact flake every so slightly underneath my eyes though.

This mascara retails for $31 CAD at Sephora for the full size. I'm not sold on it quite yet but I did like the results that it gave my lashes. I do think that it is a fun concept but it strikes me as being somewhat of a gimmick at the same time. I think that if I used this particular product in conjunction with a volumizing mascara that I would love it a lot more!

How I Self-Tan To Get A Nice Bronze Glow

Hey everyone! Who doesn't love a fabulous sun-kissed look for those hot summer months without damaging your skin with those harmful UV rays? My product of choice is Estee Lauder's Bronze Goddess Tinted Self-Tanning Gelee for Body! I started off by using a deluxe sample of this and feel in love with it that I went out and bought the full size version.

What's great about this product is that it is perfect for using when you are in a rush and you need to get to your location ASAP! While you are in the shower, make sure to exfoliate and after you towel dry your body, apply a nice layer of this self-tanner all over. There is a slight shimmer to it which looks quite beautiful on the skin actually! It will dry in 10-20 minutes and it is NOT sticky at all! It has never rubbed off on my clothes either! You do not have to apply this and wait for a few hours to wash the excess off. You simply apply it to your body, finish getting ready and then by the time you walk out the door, it will be dried leaving you with a gorgeous glow! Keep in mind: the tan takes about an hour or so to develop.

It smells pleasant and it doesn't smell like those horrible overly strong self-tanners that you hate using because of the strong chemicals! It also gives off a nice glow that is not orange! There is a buildable coverage without it looking sloppy on the skin so I like to apply it every 2-4 days. It is in a squeezable tube and is very easy to apply which is another plus!

You can purchase the matching face product to go along with this self-tanner for the body. I don't like to self-tan my face and that's just my preference. I bought my bottle at a cosmetic outlet and found it just by chance. I would highly recommend this product but I know it can be a bit expensive for some people. If you are looking to get a very deep tan from this product then you will by disappointed and your best bet is to try The Cabana Tan Extreme in Dark from Million Dollar Tan which works awesome as well!

UPDATE: I have recently found out through an Estee Lauder representative that the Estee Lauder Tanning Gelee is discontinued.  She suggested to use the Aerin Gradual Tan for Face & Body instead, but I know nothing about it so I can't speak on that. I would recommend the Million Dollar Tan in this case then because I have purchased and used it in the past with great results!
