August Empties | 2017

Hey everyone! It is time again for another round of empties! Let's dive in and see which products I have used up this month!

Face/Eyes
Splash One Day Soft Lenses These are by far among the best contact lenses that I have ever used. They are extremely comfortable and even though it is for one day use, I must admit that I have used a pair for a few days before. I highly recommend them and they are affordable as well as convenient to buy as I purchase mine online at cleary.ca

The Body Shop Vitamin C Energising Face Mist (100 ml) - This lasted me longer than I honestly thought that it would. I wouldn’t say that it is amongst my favourite products from The Body Shop and I am in no rush to repurchase it. I would tend to use this spray at night to lock in all of my creams, lotions and serums. This is a vegan product.

Body
Nest Fragrances in Dahlia & Vines (5 ml) - This is an ideal scent for Summer or Spring and mine is small enough to fit inside my purse or travel with which proved to be very convenient. The notes are: dewy daffodils, peony and rose that are blended with the essence of garden vines. The fragrance isn’t too strong and lingers nicely throughout the day.

Dove Advanced Care Go Fresh Rebalance Anti-Perspirant (45 g) - The scent was subtle on this and it definitely lasted me all day. If I worked during the day and went out at night, I would reapply. The only con is that if you don’t apply the stick evenly to your armpit, it can transfer onto your clothes. I ended up applying the stick to my underarms and then using my fingers to rub it in completely.

Teeth
Crest 3D White Toothpaste in Radiant Mint (135 ml) - I have used this toothpaste in the past and it does last quite a but of time! I like the flavour and my teeth felt clean after each use.

Bath & Body Works
Springtime in Paris Gentle Foaming Hand Soap (259 ml) -This was nice to use but it definitely isn’t one of my favourite scents from Bath & Body Works. The notes in this fragrance include: citrus zest, peach blossom and peony petals. You can definitely smell the citrus in this hand soap!

Eucalyptus Mint Deep Cleansing Hand Soap (236 ml) -This is a nice smelling hand soap and the mint isn’t too overpowering. I actually smelled more Eucalyptus than anything in this scent and it reminds me of an aromatherapy scent.

Miami Mint Mojito Gentle Foaming Hand Soap (259 ml) - This scent definitely reminded me of a tropical drink and it an all around fabulous scent. The notes include: fresh lime, juicy pear and green mint leaf.

Promo/Samples - Hair
Herbal Essences Bio Renew Argan Oil of Morocco Shampoo & Conditioner (10 ml) - The scent is incredible and I really liked the formula! There are no parabens, colorants or gluten inside. I am definitely considering purchasing the full sized version of both once I run out of my current shampoo and conditioner!

Biore Baking Soda Pore Cleanser (30 ml) - I actually have the full sized version of this and I was using this for when I was traveling. I really love this cleanser and it is my favourite one sold at the drugstore currently. I like to use it right in the morning when I wake up and it also does a great job at removing my makeup! My face feels fresh and clean after using it rather than tight, stripped or dry.

Face & Body
Ahava Dead Sea Water Mineral Body Lotion Sea-Kissed (6 ml) - This was a sample with my Sephora order and I really enjoyed using it! The scent is described as a ‘fresh breeze of marine and floral notes.’ It absorbs into the skin quickly, it is not sticky or greasy and your skin feels soft and moisturized!

Ahava Essential Day Moisturizer Time To Hydrate (3 ml) - This absorbed quickly in my skin and there was no sticky or messy residue left behind. The scent is very subtle and this product is targeted to those with normal to dry skin. It is on the more expensive side though because 1.7 oz is $55 CAD/$46 USD.

Dior J’adore Eau de Toilette (1 ml) - This was a free sample that was included with my order from Sephora. The notes include: Sicilian Blood Orange, Damascus Rose and Grasse Neroli. It is described as a tangy floral fragrance.

Teeth
Smile Brilliant Whitening Gel Desensitizing Gel (3 ml each) I have been swearing by this product for many months now and I have recommended it to several people. Many friends, acquaintances and just random people have commented on how white my teeth are.

Until next time,

SampleSource Fall Box | 2017

Hey everyone! I missed out on the Spring box from SampleSource but I was lucky enough to get their Fall box and let's take a look what I got inside of my box!

- Adams 100% Natural Peanut Butter Sample & $1 off coupon
I have tried this and it is delicious! It makes a great snack and it is soft, not hard to chew!
This is the old packaging

I honestly got many more items last year than this year and most people got much better boxes than I did. I guess that word is getting around because I seen a SampleSource box in my neighbour's mailbox too! I know that this is a free service and I am grateful for it but I do wish that there were some beauty items this year because I got all food and drink products in this box. My box was shipped on the 26th of October and I received it on the 31st (Halloween!)

You get notified through email when samples are available and they also post on their Instagram as well as Twitter so make sure to keep an eye out there in the future. This is a free service that residents from both the USA and Canada can take advantage of. They also do send out a survey for you to complete after you take some time to test out your products so that they can see how they worked out for you!

You can also check out what I received in my SampleSource Fall Box 2016.

Until next time,

Poland | Warsaw, Gdansk, Sopot: OOTD, Views & Food

Hey everyone!  I went to Poland a few weeks back for my cousin's wedding and did quite a bit of exploring. I literally took hundreds of photos but narrowed it down to under 15. You will see some OOTDs, places that I visited, delicious food and amazing architecture.

The Old Town is gorgeous and is very historic. The square is a great opportunity to take lots of photos and there are some great stores as well as restaurants here. They are and have restored many of the buildings. My cousin actually got married at the church in the Old Town and I came here multiple times just because I loved it so much!

The buildings and the view is nothing like here in Canada. The weather was very cold and I wish that I had brought my winter jacket actually. It was between 10-15 degrees in Warsaw (on average each day) when I was there in mid-September. I wore so many layers and wish that I had brought thicker clothes. We did get quite a bit of rain and I ended up getting sick because many of my family members were sick too, but that didn't slow down my visit at all!

I am standing in front of the Wilanow Palace which is massive and such a beautiful site to see! It is located in Warsaw and it actually survived both the world wars. You are able to walk around and take photos without having a pay an entrance fee. I highly recommend wearing flat shoes because as you can tell, the ground is make up of cobblestone.

I tried taking a photo from afar but it is very hard to get the entire palace in one shot due to it's large size. On the right hand side of the photo on the grass, there is a black object that is motorized and it either trims to grass or serves another purpose that I am unsure of. Also if you look closely, on the left hand side on the cobblestone, there is a bride and groom that were taking photos here. There were actually many couples doing this and it honestly is a genius idea because the background would look truly incredible in their wedding photos!

Now this was a shock to me and it is hard to truly describe it's true size, but the Frederic Chopin statue is a lot larger than it appears to be in photos. I had seen countless photos of this popular tourist site and when I seen it in real life, I was blown away! My cousin was telling me that in the summer, there are concerts and people come to the park to sit on the benches and listen to the melodies play out. It is located in Łazienki Park and you actually have to go rather deep into the park if you enter from the opposite entrance. My cousin was telling me that she would bring her daughter when she was still in a stroller and take her to this park for a nice walk.

I am so glad to have finally seen it for myself in person and I would highly recommend seeing this if you ever come to Warsaw! After all, it is indeed the largest park in the city and there is lots to see. If you love nature then this is definitely the spot for you and there are various animals included red squirrels as well as peacocks just to name a couple!

Before I came to Poland, I was researching places that I wanted to visit and Krakow looked nice, but it didn't blow me away when I was looking at it online. I then came across the port city of Gdansk and instantly knew that I had to make my way there. It is located on the Baltic coast of Poland and it is a tri-city that is composed of three major parts: Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot.

We headed to Sopot first which was the furthest away and I was told that it was also the most expensive. The temperature in Sopot was definitely in the 20's and people were even taking off their shirts because it was very hot! The above photo was taken in Sopot and you can see the beach as well as some hotels in the background. They are building as well as renovating too.

There are some interesting ships and boats that pass through. It is great to spend a day here and take a walk down to the end. This was the hottest weather that I experienced in Poland during my entire 10-day trip.

The city of Gdansk is also known for it's amber trade and you can see just about anything and everything made out of amber. I definitely had to get some and I bought some earrings in Sopot before we got on the train. After we were done walking through Sopot, we made our way to the train to get to Gdansk. It was a very short ride and we just took a regular train. We did take the express train from the Centrum which took just over 3 hours from Warsaw to get to Sopot just in-case you are wondering.

Gdansk is gorgeous and there are years on the buildings to let you know when they were build. There have obviously been restorations over the years but it is breathtaking to see it in real life. It is a great place to visit some shops, get some souvenirs and to enjoy some fresh seafood!

The Fountain of Neptune is a popular tourist attraction in Gdansk and the statue of the sea god himself is made out of bronze. You are supposed to make a wish and then throw a coin into the water (which I definitely did!)

I have saved the best for last and wanted to show you two popular, traditional Polish dishes. Above is placki which are potato pancakes and mine has smoked salmon, a dollop of sour cream on top and to finish it off, they garnished it with fresh dill. They were amazing and almost better than the ones that my Grandma makes!

Next up are some pierogies that I ordered that look similar to dumplings. You can stuff then with different things and in the middle is shredded cabbage or we call it kapusta. I ordered some sour cream to eat with it because that is how I always eat my pierogies. All the food was delicious and I am lucky because I do eat it back home!

I hope that you enjoyed this post and it is a little different than my usual format because I fit 10 days of adventure into one post. If you have any questions about where any of the pieces from any of my outfits are from, let me know. If you want to know more about anything in Poland, I will try my best to answer but my family there is of course, more knowledgable than I am.

Project 10 Pan - Round 8

Hey everyone! I have gone through a few more makeup items and I wanted to share with you which products that are no longer in my collection!

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination in Tan It is definitely a full coverage concealer that claims to be waterproof as well as having anti-aging properties to it. I thought it worked well however, it isn’t my favourite concealer. This shade definitely is a lot lighter than other tan shades from different brands so definitely keep that in mind when you are purchasing this product. I do have an entire review on this particular product.

ELF Makeup Mist & Set (x2) - This is a holy grail product for me and there is no surprise here that I have gone through yet another bottle. I use it to help prime and set my makeup. I traveled with one bottle so much and used it so frequently that the entire label has actually rubbed off!

ELF Poreless Face Primer - This really isn't my favourite face primer and I featured it in my haul video. This doesn't do what I want a primer to do for my skin and this is a hard pass for me.

Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara in Jumbo Jet I purchased this at the Estee Lauder Warehouse Sale and I honestly didn’t expect to like it as much as I did! The wand is perfect for separating your lashes and lengthening them. It is definitely a chubby wand that is straight and I reached for it every single day!

Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara in Blackest Black This is an amazing mascara and it gives my lashes a lot of length! I love the fibres in the formula and it is very easy to wash off at the end of the night. I do have an entire dedicated review for this product and it is definitely one of my favourite affordable drugstore mascaras currently.

MAC Studio Careblend Pressed Powder in Light I purchased this from the Estee Lauder Warehouse Sale and it is all-around a great powder! It doesn’t look too powdery on the face, it doesn’t fell heavy and this was a great shade match for me. I will be doing a Back To Mac on this compact.
Edit: This exact item has been discontinued.

Vaseline Lip Therapy in Rosy Lips - I have mentioned this product several times and it is in my top 5 lip balms of all time. I even featured it in my 5 Winter Skin Care Essentials post. I definitely recommend this as it is: accessible, affordable (often times I see it on sale,) it comes in different scents and you can even purchase it at various grocery stores! It also slightly tints your lips to give them some colour which I absolutely love!

Colourpop Lippie Pencil in Brink I love this shade so much and it is a great every shade to wear. It is a ‘your lips but better’ shade that is very close to my natural lip colour. Despite the packaging getting very messy and constantly having to sharpen it, the formula is very creamy. It is very affordable and I would repurchase this in a heartbeat.

ColourPop Super Shock Cheek in Wisp This was my go-to highlighter for many months. I really liked it that much more when I found out the perfect way to apply it (that being with a makeup sponge.) My face was always glowing with this highlighter and I am proud to say that I have 3 other ColourPop highlighters in my stash now that I can rotate through! I do have a haul where I swatched this shade as well as an entire video on 30+ Colourpop Swatches.

I hope that everyone had an amazing Halloween and here is the aftermath of our Jack-O-Lantern that we carved for Halloween!

Trying Out 5 Tony Moly I'm Real Sheet Masks | Review

Hey everyone! I have tried out a few of these masks in the past and wanted to give you a review on some of the Sheet Masks by Tony Moly in one post. Let's see which ones were my favourites!

Tony Moly I'm Real Pomegranate Mask - My first thoughts on this mask were that is was definitely saturated in essence, it wasn't dripping though and it had a unique scent to it. I can't pinpoint it but it did not smell like pomegranate. There was a cooling sensation on the skin but this wasn't one of my favourite masks. This mask helps to firm up the skin and it helps with elasticity.

Tony Moly I'm Real Broccoli Mask - I don't know if this was just my mask, but this mask was dripping in essence as soon as I ripped open the package. It did not smell like broccoli but it felt very wet on the skin. This mask was just mediocre and isn't at the top of my list. It provides vitalizing energy to tired skin.

Tony Moly I'm Real Seaweed Mask - This is a skin purifying mask and helps to make the skin look bright, more radiant with 'freshness of the sea.' It feeling cooling on the skin, it smelled great and fit comfortably on my face. It left my skin looking a little bit more radiant and my skin drank up the essence. I really enjoyed using this mask and it was a nice treat for my face.

Tony Moly I'm Real Aloe Mask - The aloe mask gave a cooling sensation to the skin, it fit my face well and I loved the scent! The Aloe Sheet Mask is meant for moisturizing and it delivers moisturizing properties to dry skin. This honestly is now added to the list of my favourite sheet masks as it definitely gave my face the moisture it was lacking and I just love the packaging!

Tony Moly I'm Real Red Wine Mask - This mask is targeted to help care for your pores and it helps to tighten uneven skin texture with enlarged pores. The red wine mask: did not smell like red wine, the essence was not red; it was clear and the packaging on this particular mask was the favourite out of the bunch.

I want to mention that I left each mask on for 20 minutes and I exfoliated as well as toned my face before applying each sheet mask. I love the bright, fun packaging and you already know that I purchase all my masks from my favourite store in bulk a few times a year! These masks are made in Korea and each mask was under $2. The expiration date is at the very bottom and it contains 21 grams. My two favourites were the aloe and seaweed sheet masks. I would purchased either (or both,) again in a heartbeat!

Disappointing Products | Volume 5

Hey everyone! It's time for another post of all the products that didn't quite work out for me! Let's dive into the details!

Soft Lips Lip Protectant in Vanilla (2 g) - I used up this product pretty quickly but I'm just over these lip balms from this brand. The product just sits on top of my lips and doesn't really moisturize them. The design completely rubbed off on the tube and some of the words did too. It is a slim packaging which is great to pack in a small clutch or to put in your pocket. I featured this in my Project Pan | Round 12 post.

Morphe Sponge I have been hearing so many beauty gurus talk about this sponge for the longest time and finally tried it out for myself. I would say that it is very disappointing in the sense that it's so hard (even when wet,) to bounce onto your face to a point that it's uncomfortable. I do like the wedged part for baking but that's the only positive that I can think of. I would choose a beauty blender over this any day. This is definitely NOT worth the hype! Save your coins!

Peter Thomas Roth Max Sheer All Day Moisture Defense Lotion SPF 30 (30 ml) - This product was in a kit that I got from Peter Thomas Roth months ago and I wanted to use it up before it expired as there is sunscreen in it. I honestly feel like it made my skin break out and it applied white on my face. I really had to rub it in and it smelled just like I was applying sunscreen on my face. I did like the fact that it came in an airless pump but that's pretty much the only positive about this item. The SPF is rather low for a sunscreen and you can find better out there in my opinion. I featured this in my July Empties | 2019.

MAC Cleanse Off Oil (30 ml) - This product has been talked about in the beauty community for quite some time now but I didn't care for it because it just didn't work the way I thought it would. The pump was super inconsistent, messy and even stiff at times. It didn't break down my full face of makeup the way that I thought that it would and I have tried different oils that cost less money that do a much better job! You can find this product in my June Empties | 2019 post!

Clinique High Impact Lash Elevating Mascara in #01 Black (4 ml) - This mascara was difficult to remove and it isn't even waterproof!  It definitely does flake and it isn't a mousse-like formula like it claims to be. My lashes weren't much better after applying it and it was an overall flop! You can find better at the drugstore!

Check out my Disappointing Products | Volume 4 post!

RealHer Play Book Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Hey everyone! I had never even heard of this brand until a few days ago and wanted to play around with the different shades in the palette for my readers who want to see how they swatched.

Packaging & Shades
This is hard cardboard with a magnetic closure and the black material does get very dirty. You can wipe it off but it will continuously get shadow on it and it is hard to keep clean. It definitely reminds me of the NARS packaging. The shades are mostly shimmery and metallic. You will probably have shimmer on your lids no matter what and if you prefer matte palettes, then stay far away from this one. I can't use this palette for an entire look because there are no matte crease colours. The shades fall more into a neutral, brown range and the only real pop of colour is the shade Creative which is a metallic pink. The shades claim to be richly-pigmented and I would have to say that not all of them are but majority are. The colours are buildable and I found most of the shadows to be soft. Also, some of the pans are not glued into the palette very well and are loose.

  Swatches
The first three shades are similar and the first two are slightly different. The fourth shade swatched completely different to how it actually looks in the pan to my surprise. The shade after that looks almost duo chrome and reminds me of that gorgeous duo chrome shade in the Carli Bybel Deluxe Palette. The black shade swatched the worst and it is not an opaque black with one swatch. I actually had to go over it multiple times and I would actually use another black from another palette that I already own. I feel like these shadows are powdery and do have kick-up for the most part.

Where To Buy & Price
I found this online on FabFitFun, BoxyCharm and the RealHer website for $28 USD. Each shade works out to be just over $3.

Benefits, Claims, Wear Test & Final Thoughts
This is not a must have palette in my honest opinion, but there are some awesome shades that caught my eye and they performed decently. If you like shimmery and metallic shades, then give this palette a try. This would be a great starter palette or good for someone who doesn't have many eyeshadow palettes that loves shimmery shadows. It claims to be for all eye colours and I would have to agree because for instance, the pink as well as the purple/taupe shade would make my hazel eyes pop. It also claims to be for all skin tones but I would disagree with that because not all the shades would work on deeper skin tones and they could end up look ashy.

Also, I put this palette to the test and wore a few of the shades in the palette to a concert. The verdict was that despite packing on the shades, they faded significantly throughout the night and definitely failed that test. It looked like I never put on an inner corner shade and the other palette that I used on my crease held up much better than this one. My concert was only a few hours and I want to put emphasis on that I made sure to heavily pack on my lid colour. I also want to mention that I did not touch up the shadow throughout the night nor when I go home so it was a true wear test. Therefore in conclusion, it is not long wearing as the claim suggests. If you have more than a dozen palettes in your collection, you can definitely skip this one. It is also: paraben free, cruelty free, vegan, sulfate free and they use natural ingredients.
