March Empties | 2016

Hey everyone! It is time again for another round of empties! You can sort through my used up items with me and see everything that I went through for the month of March!

Hair
Nioxin Cleanser for Fine Hair #1 Normal to Thin-Looking Shampoo - This was a product that was recommended to me by my dermatologist. It was about $50 and lasted me for about a year. The formula is blue and is not thick. It was a decent product overall and I was using it to help with my scalp because it was very dry.

Face
BiorĂ© Deep Cleansing Pore Strips - I can’t go a week without using my Biore pore strips! They effectively remove all the extra gunk on my face and leave it feeling very clean! It is gross, but I enjoy seeing what exactly came off my face which is usually many white heads!

Mouth
Colgate Total Toothpaste in Clean Mint - Again, it is a very affordable and basic toothpaste. It performed as it should and didn’t do anything out of the ordinary.

Altoids Smalls in Cinnamon - These are very powerful but I feel that because they are so small, I need to take two instead of one to get the fresh breath that I am looking for!

Crest 3D Luxe Whitestrips in Glamorous White - These are my number one go-to strips I use when I want to whiten-up my smile. There are 14 treatments and like the packaging suggests, there is a “strong grip” and there is “no slip.” I recommend these to all my friends and family. I do suggest waiting to buy them when they are on sale because they can get quite expensive.

Body
Bath & Body Works Shea & Vitamin E Body Lotion in Mahogany Teakwood - This scent is one of my favourites! It is very musky and masculine. There are also notes of lavender!

Hands
Bath & Body Works Gentle Foaming Hand Soap in Oh Snap! - This was such a great scent to use around the holidays! The packaging is what originally drew me to this particular bottle!

Bath & Body Works Gentle Foaming Hand Soap in Vanilla Bean Noel - This is a scent that Bath & Body Works comes out with around the holidays and if you love vanilla, you have to check it out!

Bath & Body Works Gentle Deep Cleansing Hand Soap in White Pear & Fig - They describe it as a “crisp white pear layered with frosted fig.” It was nice to use but I wouldn’t run out to buy it again anytime soon.

Kleenex Fresh On The Go Wipes - These came in handy and are very convenient to throw into my purse. What I didn’t like is how they seal the packaging. The protective seal kept coming off and because it couldn’t adhere on properly, some of my wipes did in fact dry out.

Vitamins
Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies - You already know that I love this product and I am already on my next bottle!

Nature’s Bounty - Vitamin C & D3 (100 softgels) - I purchased this bottle when I was getting sick to help get my body back on track. I felt as though it did help me and I will purchase this again in the future!

Samples
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths - I love Cetaphil cleansing cloths in general and when I received these, I was overjoyed! They are very strong and durable cloths. You can remove your entire face of makeup at the end of the night using only 1 cleansing cloth. They are ultra soft and they will not irritate your eyes when you are taking off your eye makeup. They are great to take on the go no matter what your lifestyle is like! They are also fragrance free which is another great selling point. I used up 6 of these and have plenty more in my stash!

Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve - This is my second deluxe sample of this particular formula and I would not go out and purchase it. My friend hated the smell of it because it is extremely minty and it was a very standard product in my opinion.

Derma E Hydrating Day Creme - I was sent these samples for my consideration but my opinion is honest. I did really enjoy using this fabulous product! It is: soft, hydrating, fast to absorb, not sticky and there is a light scent that reminds me of bubblegum! I would actually purchase this because it is not too thick and there is a ton of vitamins infused into this cream such as vitamin C and E. Also, not to mention all the beneficial antioxidants like green tea!

Jeunesse Instantly Ageless -  I was to give a shoutout to Karen from Idaho who was kind enough to send me two samples! I found that it absorbed very quickly into the skin, there was no scent to the lightweight formula and it felt tightening on the skin in a good way! The formula is pink in colour and you only need to use less than a pea-sized amount. You need to work quickly and remain expressionless until it fully dries on your face! If you use too much by accident, it will appear white on your face and you can gently remove the excess with a damp cotton swab.

Until next time,

STAY CLASSY.

Sirens & Bluenotes Haul - Nothing Over $10

Hey everyone! Last week I went to the outlets around my area with my friend and I wanted to show you what I purchased!

All the items pictured above are from Sirens and were only $10 each! The two pencil skirt in the top left corner will get some good use shortly! The zipper on the orange skirt is good quality and really pulls the skirt together! You know that I love camel and this dress is actually my favourite thing that I purchased! It is a halter and is quite long. There is a little cut-out in the back but nothing too drastic. I may wear this for a night out with the girls or at an upcoming Bachelorette party!

The two high neck turtleneck tanks are my favourite! I now own three in total and they are my go-to because they are so comfortable yet fashionable! I was told that there is a white version of this same top and you know that I will be on the lookout for it next time I go back there! Lastly, the striped cropped top I actually put down last time I was at the outlet and this time, they had a whole rack full! That was a sign that I should take advantage and it was now my time to purchase it! It is comfortable but with the ruching on the side, I feel like it does hike up over time and I have to keep pulling it down. Other than that, it is a great crop top!

The two joggers (pictured above,) were only $5 a piece! The black ones are my go-to and my all time favourite! The drawstring resembles a cord and that pattern is continued on the sides of the pants. The second pair is a little bit out of my comfort zone but I feel like I can definitely pull them off with a good pair of combat boots! Both pants are from Bluenotes.

Until next time,

STAY CLASSY.

ColourPop Cosmetics Haul & Swatches

Hey everyone! I recently placed my second order with ColourPop Cosmetics and wanted to share with you some of the items that I received in my package! I can't get enough of their hand written note!

They were nice enough to send me this complimentary Limited Edition Lippie Stix in the shade Poppin because they have reached 2 million ColourPopettes which is a huge milestone! It is very opaque and pigmented! I will definitely get some good use out of it in the upcoming Spring and Summer days! The only thing I must warn you about is removing it. It can be quite messy and you may need to rub the area a few times to fully get the product off.

I am also in need of a new nude lip liner because my current one is almost finished. I decided to purchase the Lippie Pencil in the shade Brink. I really like it and it is a nude/pink. It will be easy to match almost any lip colour to this lip pencil. The only thing I noticed about their Lippie Pencil packaging is that the cap comes off VERY EASILY. If you do decide to put this in your purse or your makeup bag, make sure you put the cap on very tightly before placing it inside.

I have been looking for the perfect brown lip colour for quite some time now and I think that I have finally found it! This is a Ultra Satin Lip product in the shade Mess Around. It applies very opaque and like the name suggests, it delivers a satin finish. It is not drying and feels very comfortable on the lips. I didn't notice much cracking when wearing it and it is long wearing but it is not completely kiss-proof.

My favourite product currently from them is...

The Super Shock Cheek Highlighter in Wisp! It is such a gorgeous colour that will look amazing with a tan! On the web site, it is described as a golden champagne colour which is my go-to for highlighters! It is a pearlized finish and the formula does feel a little bit "wet" just like the eyeshadows do. The only thing that I do not like is that there is a little gap between the lid and the actual packaging itself that houses the pan. It is very minor, but still bothers me.

The best thing about ColourPop is that they have a wide range of colours and shades that retail for a very affordable price point! They also offer a $5 off coupon on your first purchase when you subscribe to their newsletter which is amazing and can equal out to a free product!

Until next time,

STAY CLASSY.

Lise Watier HydraForce Product Review

Hey everyone! Lise Watier recently came out with a new cream that is called Hydraforce and it is a Hydra-Protective Comforting Cream. It is very hydrating and is perfect for the unpredictable weather conditions that we as Canadians have to deal with. The featured ingredient is the Gaspe Algae Extract which helps acts as a barrier from harsh environments.

Packaging
I really liked the design that they came out with for this particular product. The lid is white and then there is blue ombre fading into white towards the top. There is some weight to this product but I wouldn’t necessarily consider it to be heavy. It is rather small and won’t take up much room on your vanity. It is such a beautiful jar that you will want to definitely display it for others to see!

Price
The cream is 45 ml or 1.5 FL OZ and I must say that a little bit does go a long way! It retails for $45 CAD on Lise Watier web site

Pros
There is a very light scent that is pleasant and not overwhelming. It is very lightweight and it left my skin remarkably softer. It really did help my makeup glide on that much smoother. I find that it really does protect my skin in the cold Canadian weather which is a major key that I look for in all my moisturizers.

The App

They also came out with a fun app called Hydra-Detect that is available for both iPhone and Android users. It is free to download and is very simple to use. You follow the prompts on the screen and they will show you your results! I have attached some screen shots down below so that you can see exactly how the app works! You start off by plugging in the cord to access your device's microphone. There are two sensors on the external device and you put them onto your skin and wait for your test results! As you can see from the screen shots, my hands were extremely dry and after applying one layer of cream, my hydration level instantly went up!

Overall
I think that this is a great product and I really enjoyed using it. The formula is exceptional in my opinion and I can honestly say that because I have used a lot of different creams for my face both low-end and also high-end. After using this, I can’t leave my house without wearing my HydraForce moisturizer! Also, this was my first item that I have ever tried out from Lise Watier and now I want to try out others from this brand! It was the perfect introductory product.

Until next time,

STAY CLASSY.

Project 10 Pan - Round 2 | 2016

Hey everyone! I really enjoyed writing the last blog post for you where I showed you 10 beauty related items that I had finally used up, and I decided to do it again just for my readers! You can see all the10 items that I have used up and as always, my honest opinions on each one will follow.

1. Bobbi Brown Luminous Moisturizing Treatment Foundation in Natural 4 - I found this foundation to be rather liquidy. I did like the yellow tone of this foundation because my skin is very yellow and it can be hard to find a shade that suits me well.

2. Annabelle Skin True Concealer Quad - This lasted me a long time and I found the shades to be creamy. It doesn't look like you are getting a lot of product but you really are which is a nice surprise!

3. Neutrogena Shine Control Powder - This was a decent powder. I have combination skin and it has been more on the oily side lately. I found that for this product to truly work on my face, I had to reapply it often which isn't always practical.

4. NYX Matte Finish Long Lasting Setting Spray - I was not a fan of this product and my inclination was right because this product made my skin breakout! My face didn't look very matte either after spraying my face generously with this product.

5. NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Brunette - I think that you do not get enough product and this ran out very quickly on me. The shade is a good match for my complexion, I just wish the pencil wouldn't break so easily because it is very thin.

6. Marc Jacobs O!Mega Lash Voluminizing Mascara in 30 Blacquer - This was a great product to use and did give my lashes a good amount of volume!

7. Givenchy Noir Couture Volume Mascara - This mascara was a 100 point perk from Sephora and I can't give my true opinion on it because I believe that it came to me expired. The formula was extremely dry and there was a strange smell to it. I have a hunch that it was sitting too long in their warehouse! The brush is very unique though.

8. NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien - I loved the colour which is a pink/nude, but hated that I had to sharpen it and this particular product transferred onto my teeth A LOT even after blotting with a tissue!

9. MAC Select Cover-Up in NW20 - This is probably one of my favourite concealers out there currently. I am a concealer junkie and this is easy to blend as well as matches my skin tone very well! There isn't a lot of creasing and looks natural on my skin once blended out.

10. Hard Candy Brows Now! Brow Fiber Gel & Highlighter for Brunettes - I purchased mine at Wal-Mart and it is very affordable. I used up the brow fiber side within a few months and the highlighter took my much longer to use up. It is a good dual ended product but I will be trying out other items before I decide to repurchase this again.

Until next time,

STAY CLASSY.

Bobbi Brown Brightening Finishing Powder Review & Swatches

Hey everyone! I recently got my hands on this lovely product and it feels just as luxurious as it looks! Mine is in the shade Bronze Glow.

Packaging
Bobbi Brown really nailed it with the packaging! There is the white box with the ingredient list and the usage instructions that house the compact. Before you actually get to the compact, you get a small black pouch that protects the powder. Upon opening the compact, there is a plastic protective cover on top of the actual powder.

Swatches
I was disappointed with the top shades of this powder when swatched individually because they aren't that pigmented when compared to the bottom shades which clearly are! I love the colour of all the beautiful shades when mixed together. I will either do that or I will use only the bottom shades separately.

Price
I was able to find this product on the Nordstrom web site for $75 however it does not ship to Canada. I was not able to find this particular item on the Sephora web site and the closest items from the same brand to it are: Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick, Bobbi Brown Nude Finish Illuminating Powder and the Bobbi Brown Brightening Brick.

Overall
I think that it is a high-end product however, I do not think that it is a must-have. There are other products out that are similar to this and deliver the same results. I did not pay full price for my powder and I'm glad that I didn't! Realistically, I will use this product from time-to-time but it will not be used on a daily basis. I will most likely use this product as a highlight or one or more colours as eyeshadow. You can also use it as a bronzer or a blush if you like that shimmery finish. The shades are definitely soft, not overly sparkly and looks natural on the skin.

Until next time,

STAY CLASSY.

NYX Lip Lingerie Swatches & Thoughts

Hey everyone! It took me awhile to get my hands on these Lip Lingeries and I have been itching to try them out ever since I seen swatches on Instagram! The third time visiting the store was a charm because I went to the newly opened NYX store and was able to pick-up two of the shades. They had been completely sold out the previous two times I went. The displayer was by the cash at the back of the store and random people throughout the store had the testers so it was always a mission to find certain colours. As you can tell by the photo, they retail for $9 CAD and I felt that some colours were more sheer than others. That means that you will end up using more product and go through the tube faster.

The Shades I Purchased
I decided to buy Embellishment and Exotic which were two of the more opaque shades that I watched on my hand. I first seen Embellishment on the web site and it is more of a mauve colour with a purple undertone. Exotic is similar to a brick red and is quite opaque. I was told that there were 3 tubes of Embellishment left and I bought one of them so that means there were only 2 remaining by the time I left the store. Talk about great timing! Exotic was an impulse purchase to be honest. I also managed to convince another woman to buy this beautiful shade!

Swatches
I made sure to exfoliate and moisture my lips prior to application because it IS a liquid lipstick after all. The shades did go on a bit lighter on my lips but that is because I put some concealer on top of my natural lip colour. The applicator makes the application process so much easier which I appreciate. The formula is also very creamy and easy to work with. Also, these shades are a matte finish.

What I noticed especially with this colour is that it left a strange line towards the top and the bottom of my lips. The colour also bled a little bit and feathered out especially on my upper lip. Next time I wear it, I will be using a lip liner with it.

Overall
I would say that they are long wearing and long lasting. I ate, drank some water and was talking a lot yet the lip colour still lasted! I have been wearing exotic for about 4 hours now and it is still looking rather decent! I have not had to touch up yet! The swatches on my hand have faded ever so slightly! It did not transfer either even though it felt a little bit sticky on the lips. NYX has a new return policy that if you open any product that you purchase, you can no longer return it. It has to be unopened and accompanied by the original receipt within a 30 day time frame. Also, you should follow me on Snapchat if you aren't already!

Until next time,

STAY CLASSY.
