December Empties | 2019

Hey everyone! I can't believe that it's the last month of 2019! We are headed into a new decade which is both scary and exciting! Here's my last empties post of 2019!

Face
LANEIGE Water Bank Eye Gel (25 ml) - I really liked the consistency of this eye gel and it absorbed quickly into the skin. I used it at night and you get such a good amount of product inside the jar as many eye creams only have 15 ml in the container. It didn’t weigh down my eye area and I really enjoyed using it! I would definitely repurchase this as it retails for $48 on Sephora’s website. I had the old packaging.
Update: It now retails for $51 on the Sephora website.

Tatcha Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder (10 g) - This powder is activated by water which helps to exfoliate the skin and made my skin super soft. It did not break me out and it was gentle on my skin. I was taking it in the shower with me but I found water to get inside the jar and cause it to clump up to a point where the opening was completely blocked. I used a toothpick to unclog to opening and used it at my sink instead. I also felt like it brightened my skin and it is an all around good product.

Bioré Limited Edition Deep Cleansing Pore Strips (8 count) - I just purchased these from Walmart as they were on sale and the only pore strips from Bioré that they had in-stock. This is the limited edition collaboration with Madelaine Petsch. The pore strips had fun designs on them and performed just as well as the plain white ones.

Bath & Body Works
Gentle Foaming Hand Soap in Pumpkin Cupcake (259 ml) - This is a great scent for the colder months and I have used it in the past. The notes include: baked pumpkin, whipped vanilla frosting and golden honey.

Gentle Foaming Hand Soap in Cinnamon Pine Cone (259 ml) - This was a really nice scent to use and the notes were right up my alley. They include: a spiced, woodsy blend of fresh pine, cinnamon bark and juniper.

Car Fragrance Refill in Leaves (6 ml) - I have several back-ups of these that I purchased a few months ago on sale. I really like using it in both Fall as well as Winter.

Body/Hands
Korres Hand Cream in Water Lily Blossom (75 ml) - I am pretty sure that this is discontinued as I can’t seem to find it anywhere online. I kept this in my purse and it is a nice light hand cream to use. The scent is described as a fresh, delicate scent of water flowers. There is almond oil and aloe in the formula.

Aveda Hand Relief Moisturizing Creme (150 ml) - I honestly really loved how thick this hand cream was and it helped my psoriasis a lot. The first ingredient is water and I purchased this for $10 at the Estee Lauder Warehouse Sale.

Mistral Luxury Bar Soap in Lychee Rose (7 oz/200 g) - This is probably one of my favourite scents of a bar soap. This is a pure vegetable soap that is made in France. The scent is described as an exotic lychee and black currant based in amber and cedarwood. That is right up my alley and I have actually been through a few of these!

Beverages
Trader Joe’s Organic Ginger Tumeric Herbal Tea (20 tea bags) - This has been recommended to me in the past and I finally wanted to try this out. I really enjoyed it and had a cup of tea at night when I was feeling under the weather which seemed to help over time. It is caffeine free and I would re-purchase it again in the future. It retails for about $2.50 USD.

Promo/Samples - Fragrance
MAC Lady Danger (1.5 ml) - I’m pretty sure that this scent has been discontinued as I can’t seem to find it anywhere online and on the MAC website, it shows the name of the scent but it’s not clickable. Anyway, it is more of a warm, leathery and spicy scent which is right up my alley. I believe there is amber and patchouli in the formula which is my preference when it comes to perfumes. I really like this scent but it is definitely not for everyone.

Vitamins/Supplements
Well Told Health Energy Vegan Capsules I also mentioned this in my November Empties | 2019 and I received them for free at an event. These were just alright and I found that other products on the market work better than these. They are on the more expensive side and different bottles promote different things such as: sleep, vitamin D, stress fighter and anti-inflammatory. I went through a lot of these packets but just took a photo with one empty package.

Quick Strip Fast Acting Vitamin B12 (5 strips) - These are meant to be dissolved under the tongue and they were just alright. I much prefer taking pills in the form of B12 but I received these for free so I really can’t complain. I would also take a small sip of water to help dissolve the strip faster if I was in a rush that day. I used up more of these but just included one package in my photo.

Webber Naturals Ahhh…Sleep Super Sleep Natural Herbal Blend with Melatonin (30 caplets) -I received this for free a while ago for testing purposes but when I went to the counter to redeem my voucher, I still had to pay the taxes which was annoying. I would take 2 capsules each night and it usually took around 30-60 minutes until I began feeling sleepy. The capsules are small which makes it easy to swallow. There is melatonin in here which some people have strong thoughts on and definitely consult with your doctor before using this product. I would have to say that these are on the pricier side of sleep aids and I am on the fence about trying these out again.

Miscellaneous
La Roche-Posay My UV Patch - This is another product that I received for free at an event. The whole point is to download the My UV Patch App on your phone and track how much sun exposure you are getting each day. You need to complete a profile and you apply the UV Patch onto an area that sees a fair bit amount of sun exposure. You should apply sunscreen onto the designated area like you normally would and scan it with the app every so often. It tells you if you need to be applying more sunscreen or if you are doing a good job. You honestly have to make sure the patch is in direct sunlight or else it will have a hard time scanning usually resulting in not being able to scan at all. It doesn’t makes sense if you are trying to get your last scan in at night because it won’t end up working. I ended up deleting in on the second day as my patch started to peel off my hand and I couldn’t scan my patch due to the aforementioned reasons. I applied mine on my hand and I feel like this is a bit of a gimmick. Also, when you put it on your hand and had your nose close to it, it smelled really unpleasant but when your hand was not near your face, you couldn’t smell it.

Until next time,

December Empties | 2018

Hey everyone! Wishing everyone a happy, healthy 2019!

Face
Bioré Deep Cleansing Pore Strips with Citrus Crush Scent in Pink Lemonade (8 count) - I really like these and I hope that they consider making these permanent! The print is fun and the strips are enjoyable to use! As a plus, they even smell like citrus!

Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist Mini (12 ml) - I honestly just purchased to see what the hype is about because I feel as though everyone on YouTube talks about this spray. I didn’t particularly care for it and the mist is very fine. I used it after my skincare routine as the last step and wouldn’t use it to set my makeup as I have very oily skin. It is an expensive product as I ran through this very quickly as it is only 12 ml, and the mini was $24 which is certainly up there in price. I wouldn’t repurchase it but the packaging is beautiful and I much prefer using other Tatcha products.
Update: The mini now retails for $26.

Face Masks
Disney Green Tea Face Mask (18 ml) - I did enjoy using this one and it is cooling on the skin. It claims to soothe and hydrate the face. It was an essence, most of it absorbed into my skin and I left it on for 25 minutes. The packaging is obviously very cute and it’s my favourite one that I have tried so far! I purchased it at Target for $1.50 on clearance and it is made in Korea.

Disney Charcoal Face Mask (18 ml) - The mask itself is black and the essence is clear. It claims to help remove toxins from the skin and that it minimizes pores. The chin part was strange because it appeared to be split in half when I took it out of the packaging. It was definitely a strange design! It felt nice on the skin but it isn’t amongst my favourites and I can’t seem to find it online anymore.

Sephora Pineapple Nose Mask (1 bio-cellulose mask) - It smells great but it can be rather messy. There are also 2 different films that you need to peel off. Peeling off the first one is a breeze but for the second one, the mask was already on my nose and I had to use my nail to get it separated from the actual mask. Don’t try touching the actual mask itself because it will move around so I ended up peeling off the second film completely and putting that over the actual mask to move it in place. This is more trouble that it is worth in my opinion and I wouldn’t recommend it. I would much prefer to use nose strips rather than this nose mask as I did not see any results. It is supposed to tighten and minimize pores. The item only comes in sets.

Vitamins/Supplements
Emergen-C Energy + Flavoured Fizzy Drink Mix in Mango Peach (18 packets) - I originally purchased mine from Wal Mart before I left on vacation as I was going to be in different time zones. They had a 2 for $20 deal which is incredible! This one is definitely fizzy and I found that there wasn’t too much caffeine but did make me more alert which is what I wanted. This flavour wasn’t my favourite as it left a weird after taste so I want to try out another flavour but I did really like the product!

Bath & Body Works
Car Fragrance Refill in ’Tis The Season (6 ml) - This is a great classic, seasonal scent from Bath & Body Works. I purchased two a while back and it does remind me of the smell of cloves. The notes include: red delicious apple, sweet cinnamon bark and cedarwood.

Aromatherapy Sleep Gentle Foaming Hand Soap in Lavender Cedarwood (259 ml) - This hand soap is made with natural essential oils and it smells great! The lavender oil helps you to feel more tranquil and the cedar wood oil helps clam your mind.

Promo/Samples - Face
Amore Pacific The Essential Creme Fluid (1 ml) - I have liked everything that I have tried from this brand and this is no exception! I originally thought that this was an essence but it’s a moisturizer. It smells great and the consistency is very thin so it can run right through the cracks between your fingers if you aren’t careful! It felt great on the skin and absorbed quickly. The full size retails for $125 for 90 ml of product and it is made in Korea.
Update: It now retails for $129 at Sephora.

Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief (1.5 ml) - I found that this product absorbed into my skin quickly but Clinique skincare has always been hit and miss for me. It had a lightweight texture that was similar to a gel-cream consistency. I recently learned that this particular item has been discontinued but there are other product available within the moisture surge line.

Caudalie Vine[activ] Energizing and Smoothing Eye Cream (1 ml) - This sample gave me so many uses! The product is a little bit thicker which I prefer and I used it both night as well as morning. It is a French company and there are no parabens, phthalates or sulfates. I really enjoyed using this sample!

First Aid Beauty Hello Fab Coconut Water Cream (9.6 g/0.34 oz) - This is a lightweight product that absorbs quickly into the skin. It claims to help hydrate, smooth and recharge the skin. It also says that it is safe for sensitive skin. I used this in the morning with my sunscreen and makeup layered well over it. It is made in the USA and I really enjoyed using my sample from Sephora!

Aveeno Absolutely Ageless Restorative Night Cream (14 ml) - I actually really enjoyed using night cream and can see why it’s rated so highly! There is blackberry complex and active naturals inside the formula. It is hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic and non-greasy. It smells great and I would purchase the full sized version!

Eyes
Stila Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Kitten, Grace & Twig (.09 ml x 3) - I received this as a free sample from Sephora and I can finally see what all the hype is about! I applied these onto my lids with a authentic brush and then set some translucent powder over it. It looks great and was an easy eye look to wear to work! The lasting powder on them was pretty good too as I have oily eyelids and it didn’t just fade into nothing like other products tend to do on my eyes.

December Empties | 2017

Welcome to the last empties post of 2017! Let's see which items I used up!

Face
The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 (30 ml/1 fl oz) - This was the first ever product that I had tried from this brand and I do have an entire post on it that you’re welcome to check out. I preferred using this at night and it was an extra step in my skincare routine that I didn’t mind. I got many compliments on my skin and my skin looked more radiant. I am excited to try out more from this brand in the future.

The Face Shop - Jeju Volcanic Lava Aloe Nose Strips (7 count) - I do have an entire dedicated review/comparison on this product and it is a great product however, my personal preference is the Volcanic Ash Nose Strips. These still do work well and I have nothing bad to say about them!

Estee Lauder Take It Away LongWear Makeup Remover Towelettes (45 sheets) - I purchased this at the Estee Lauder Warehouse Sale for $12 and sadly, they are discontinued but you can get the Estee Lauder Double Wear Long-Wear Makeup Wipes which are comparable to these. They do have a scent to this as there is fragrance low on the ingredient list. The only thing I must say is that I have a habit of using my makeup wipe in the inner corners of my eye area to get some leftover product out, but when I used one of these wipes there, it burned slightly and it turned my eyes red. Avoid doing this but they are sturdy wipes that got the job done!

Caudalie Grape Water (75 ml) - This lasted me under a month and it is $14 per can on the Sephora website. My can is the limited edition packaging but it is the same product inside from what I gather. I do have a more detailed blog post on this product that you can check out, but overall, I like the product but just wish that it didn’t run out so fast! I did use it both during the day and at night.

Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil (25 ml) - I used this as the first step when I was removing my makeup and double cleansing my face. It did a great job at breaking down the makeup and the product was gentle on my skin. I purchased this on the Sephora website and it was part of the Kyoto Cleanse Set.

GlamGlow SuperCleanse Daily Clearing Cleanser (30 ml) - I featured this in my Disappointing Products | Volume 1 post because the pump on mine was defective. It was hard to get product out and I tried cleaning the pump several times. I like the actual product itself and it’s great for oily skin, but the pump was the main problem for me on this cleanser. I do have a comparison post between the ThirstyMud and the SuperCleanse you are welcome to check out.

Face Masks
Innisfree It’s Real Squeeze Mask (Bamboo) This mask was very comfortable on my face and I leave it on for 20 minutes. There was enough essence for me to put it on both my chest as well as my neck. I would repurchase this in the future and I do have a review on this mask in another blog post.

Nature Republic Real Nature Mask Sheet Bamboo This sheet mask was a little bit too big for my face and I had to lie down when wearing it because at the bottom, I felt it lifting up. I also left it on for 20 minutes and about 2 minutes in, I could really feel a cooling sensation on my face which was quite nice. This made my skin look more radiant and definitely added moisture back into my face that was lacking.

Tony Moly Shea Butter Mask Sheet Moisturizing This was a bit too wide for my face but that didn’t bother me. I found it to be rather cooling and it was saturated in the right amount of essence but it wasn’t dripping when I took it out out the packaging. I noticed that there were small pieces on the mask which I haven’t seen on any other mask. It had a nice scent to it and the main purpose of this sheet mask is to help add moisture back into the face. The mask is made by non-bleached fabrics that does contain cottonseed and it is made in Korea. I left it on for 30 minutes and I really enjoyed using it!

Innisfree It’s Real Squeeze Mask in Shea Butter This mask looked like it was saturated in lotion and smelled like a Shea butter cream too. I still put it on my face for 20 minutes and it claims to be very moisturizing as well as helps to deliver moisture into dry skin. Like the bamboo mask, I put the extra essence down my neck and chest. The part on my chin lifted up twice but it wasn’t a big deal to lay it flat again. The leftover essence felt heavier on my skin than usual and I patted it in then left the rest to dry. This isn’t one of my favourite masks and I wouldn’t bother to repurchase it again unless if it was the only one left in the store to buy, then I would buy it.

Bath & Body Works
Bourbon Sea Salt Caramel Car Fragrance Refill (6 ml) - This smells incredible and is definitely one of my favourite scents from them! It smells like dessert and I loved getting into my car every single time because I caught a whiff of this delicious scent!

Spiced Apple Bourbon Nourishing Hand Soap with Pumpkin Butter (236 ml) - This scent smelled great and it is especially nice to use in the fall. There are notes of: juicy apple, cinnamon and a touch of bourbon. The pumpkin butter definitely gave my dry hands an extra layer of much needed moisture!

Teeth/Hair/Body
Crest 3D White Arctic Fresh Icy Cool Mint Toothpaste (135 ml) - This was a decent toothpaste that I used both morning and night. It wasn’t outstanding but it did the job and I would repurchase this again.

Selsun Blue Anti-Dandruff Shampoo with Botanicals (325 ml) - When my scalp is very dry, I use this product which helps me out in the colder months. I also let it sit in my scalp for a few minutes before I jump in the shower which is most effective. I also use it on my body because I have a skin condition that this product helps me with. I have been using it on and off for many years now. During those years, I have found it cheapest at Wal-Mart and you can purchase it at any major grocery store.

Food/Miscellaneous
Special K Nourish Bars in Coconut Cashew & Dark Chocolate Chunks (5 chew bars) - I received one of these bars complimentary somewhere and couldn’t believe how good it was! I finally got around to ordering another flavour and these are by far some of my favourite granola bars! It is made with quinoa and there are no artificial flavours or colours. I highly recommend these and I purchased mine online at Amazon but you can find these at any major grocery store.

Equate Baby Shampoo (592 ml) - This was purchased from Walmart and it is cheaper by about $2 from the leading brand name: Johnson’s. It performs the same in my opinion and I use it to wash my makeup brushes and my beauty blenders/sponges.

Promo/Samples -
Face
Fresh Seaberry Skin Nutrition Cleansing Oil (1.5 ml) - I selected this as one of my free samples off Sephora. I had used the Fresh Seaberry Facial Oil in the past and really enjoyed using it. This smells great and did a pretty good job at removing all of my makeup. It didn’t dry out my skin and left my skin feeling soft.

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Strobing Light Highlighter This was another sample off the Sephora website and I have been hearing all about it for many years now as I was anxious to try it out. I put this product on top of my foundation and concealer but before my powder. I did use quite a bit of the highlighter but it gave me such a beautiful golden glow. It is not overly shimmery and it would look better on me when I do have a tan. I really liked it and it shined right through my powder which some highlighters often fail to do. I was definitely impressed!

Boscia Luminizing Black Mask (10 ml) - This is a peel-off mask and it was a sample included with one of my Sephora orders. You are supposed to leave it on for 30 minutes or until dry and make sure to apply a thick, opaque layer onto your clean face. Avoid your: lip, eye, hair and eyebrow area. This is supposed to help boost the clarity of your skin and to minimize the appearance of pores. It also helps to remove any impurities as well as any dirt to give your skin a glowing complexion. It also helps to absorb any excess oil. I have to say that this mask is very messy but it claims to be good for all skin types. I put some extra product on my neck and I do not recommend that! The skin is thinner there and it hurt to remove as well as it turned my neck red. It did make my skin soft and more radiant but it was painful to remove the mask on some areas with hair. I do not recommend this for men with facial hair and I highly recommend that you leave a thick layer of the mask on your face for more than 30 minutes. I waited 35 minutes but it wasn’t enough and I ended up washing the rest of the product off which took some time. It is a little bit on the more expensive side as 80 grams of product will run you $45 and it has decent reviews on their website. I wouldn’t purchase, recommend or use this product again because it was a hassle and hurt to remove on some areas of my face. I much prefer the Gravity Mud Mask from GLAMGLOW which is also a peel-off mask.

Boscia Tsubaki Oil-Infused Exfoliating Powder (2 g) -
I also received this as a sample with my online Sephora order and this was nice on the face. It was definitely a powder, wasn’t too messy, smelled like my Grandmother’s former garden and made my skin radiant. You want to apply it onto damp skin and create a paste using water.
Update: This product has been discontinued.

Hair
Tresemmé Repair & Protect Shampoo Tresemmé Repair & Protect Conditioner (8 ml each x 3) - I received this at a trade show and this system claims to repairs 7 types of damage in 1 use. This formula contains biotin and it also helps to strengthen the hair to protect it against breakage. The duo smelled great and I really liked the shampoo. The conditioner was a bit too thick for my liking.

Briogeo Blossom & Bloom Ginseng + Biotin Volumizing Shampoo Conditioner (9.7 ml) -These smelled amazing in the shower, especially the conditioner! This made my hair very soft and the scent lingered every so slightly! I enjoyed using both and they are made without any: sulfates, silicones and parabens.

Teeth
Smile Brilliant Teeth Whitening Gel This is my last syringe and I am completely out of this product. I can say that my teeth were definitely noticeably whiter and I received many compliments on them. I am going to test out some other whitening products but I enjoyed using this one.

Until next time,

November Empties | 2020

Hey everyone! I can't believe how fast this year has gone by! Let's see all the products I used up for the month of November!
Face

Bioré Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips (8 count) - These are great on my oily skin for removing my whiteheads. I use them once a week and have gotten my brother to start using them also!

Hair

dpHUE ACV Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Rinse (88 ml) - This is an online exclusive product (all sizes,) at Sephora. I wanted to try out the smallest size to see if it would help my psoriasis on my scalp. This product was just alright and it claims to be for all scalp types. This is a shampoo substitute that helps to remove impurities. I felt like I had to shampoo after using this product because it just felt weird in my hair. I used to to double cleanse my scalp/hair and I don’t think I would repurchase it.

Vitamins/Supplements

Nature’s Bounty Quick Dissolve B-12 2500 mcg (120 microtablets) - I am a fan of these and I think it’s worth it to buy the value size. These dissolve under the tongue in a few seconds. The cherry flavour is nice and I found myself to have more energy throughout the day.

Promo/Samples - Face

LANEIGE Water Sleeping Mask (1x 15 ml + 2x 4 ml) - I have used this in the past and you want to apply this as a last step to your nightmare skincare routine. It feels great on the skin and makes your skin smooth, soft as well as hydrated. I found it to be lightweight and I’m a fan!

LANEIGE Water Bank Moisture Cream (8 ml) - I’m a fan of LANEIGE products and haven’t tried anything from the brand that I didn’t like so far. This cream is very moisturizing and my skin drinks it up! It absorbs quickly and I use this in the morning. It did not dry out my skin or make me breakout. I got this as a sample in the mail and you can purchase it at Sephora.

Avon ANEW Neutralize Anti-Pollution Serum (7 ml) - This serum was nice to use and I applied it onto my face at night. The serum is black but it does not stain and it absorbs into my skin clear. It is oil-free, vegan and it was just an average product in my opinion. There is a scent it and the serum is quite liquidy. I got this as a free sample at an outdoor event.

Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Night Serum (0.5 ml) - This doesn’t have the best scent but skincare isn’t supposed to smell good. On the pamphlet that I received, it says that the serum and the moisturizer have the same ingredients; they just come in different forms. The serum wasn’t super liquid and it made my skin very soft.

Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Night Moisturizer (0.5 ml) - This had a bit more fragrance than the serum did and I preferred it. I haven’t used a product in a long time that immediately after applying it, I said, “Wow! My skin feels soft and just incredible!” I was blown away and my skin was so soft the following morning. Once I run out of my other creams, I definitely will pick this up!

Dr. Belmeur Vita Serine Tone Smoothing Serum (1.2 ml) - This is a nice lightweight serum that I used during the day. It did not feel sticky on my skin. The fragrance is natural and subtle. This was nice to use but I’m not convinced that I would purchase a full size of this.

Verify Self Absorbed Moisturizer (7 ml) - I actually got this as a free sample and it felt great on the skin! It absorbed quickly, did not feel sticky on the skin and I found it to be very hydrating. This is made in Canada.

Body

Whish Body Butter in Pomegranate (60 ml) - My friend gave this to me and it came as part of a set. This made my skin feel very soft and silky; it was better than I expected. The scent is alright and the formula was very moisturizing. They include: organic Shea butter, organic raspberry butter and organic aloe in their formula that is great for moisturization.

Dove 0% Aluminum Deodorant in Cucumber & Green Tea Scent (74 g) - I got this sent to me in exchange for my honest opinion(s). It’s great that they did not use any aluminum. I liked the scent but I found that it didn’t keep me fresh all day. I had to reapply this deodorant once throughout the day and even so, it wasn’t enough. This just didn’t cut it for me and I highly disagree with the claim that it delivers 24 hour door protection. I enjoyed using it at first but the more I used it, the less I liked it. I wouldn’t recommend this.

Softsoap Pure Zen Relaxing Body Wash in Jasmine & Watermint (443 ml) - It’s a great product to have in the shower and it is affordable! The scent is rather nice and it suds up in the shower. This bottle lasted me longer than I expected it to. I received this free at an indoor convention.
