4 IT Cosmetics Makeup Brushes | Review

Hey everyone! I picked up each brush for only $5 CAD at the TSC Warehouse Sale | July 2018 and wanted to give you my thoughts on each one!

Heavenly Luxe Complexion Perfection Foundation Globe Brush - $58This is probably my favourite brush out of the 4 as the bristles are so soft, plush and they feel great on the skin! This is a dense, dome shaped brush that I like to use to apply my powder and you can also use it to apply foundation onto your face. The handle is holographic and that is what initially drew me to this brush as it is very aesthetically pleasing. This brush has not been shedding on me and it is easy to wash!
Update: It's been confirmed on the website that this brush has been discontinued.

Heavenly Luxe Brow Power Universal Brow-Transformer Brush - $24I normally don't like dual-sided brushes but this one gets a pass from me because it is practical and I always am using a spoolie on my eyebrows! I even convinced my Mom to get this brush too! This is great to travel with as you only need this one tool instead of bringing two brushes with you. If you are a beginner, there is a how-to guide included with your dual-sided brush that you can reference when drawing on your brows!

Heavenly Luxe Airbrush Blush Brush No.20 - $48:
The angled shape is meant to help hug your cheeks and apply product right where you want it to be! The bristles are micro-fine, dual synthetic fibres that have an airy brush head and can be used to apply cream or liquid products into the skin. I even use it for my powder blushes or when I want to blend out something on my face but am adding no additional product onto my brush!

Heavenly Luxe Double Airbrush Foundation Brush - $48This is a dense brush that has a flat top which is good for buffing product into the skin but the dual-fibre brush hairs tend to absorb a lot of the product. This brush did not wash too easily as you really need to wash the brush hairs a few times as product tends to want to stay in the middle. I use this brush for buffing foundation into my skin and all their brushes as cruelty-free!

Cinq à Sept | Chick Advisor Event 2019

Hey everyone! I went to the Cinq à Sept Chick Advisor event on Thursday, August 15th at The Bisha Hotel in Toronto. The event ran through 6-8:30PM and I came during the last hour because I was working earlier that day. Everyone got one complimentary drink ticket for the bar and if someone wanted another beverage then it was a cash bar. The gift bag was valued at over $190 worth of products.  Also, if you review all the products on the card found inside the bag, you get a $25 Sephora e-gift card at the end of September!

Overall, it was a nice event at a great venue and I enjoyed that it was a drop-in because there's no way that I could have made it any earlier. There was a live DJ spinning music and the photo booth was a nice touch. I would definitely attend another event like this in the future!

Caudalie Grape Water & The Body Shop Makeup Setting Spray Review

Hey everyone! I wanted to do a blog post reviewing two different facial sprays that I recently picked up. The Caudalie Grape Water I have been using at night and The Body Shop Makeup Setting Spray I have been using to set my makeup.

The can that I picked up has the limited edition design on the can but it is a permanent product. I really dislike that they had to put a warning label right in the middle on the front and I tried peeling off the sticker but it leaves a black residue. Also, the limited edition sticker is too close to the cap that it gets in the way I'm just going to end up peeling it off after I post this blog post for you. Anyway, it's 75 ml, I purchased mine during the VIB Sale at Sephora and it retails online for $14. I have heard nothing but great things about this spray and it really helps to hydrate the skin. I feel like I will go through this product rather fast but I still wanted to try it out because many makeup artists rave above this product. Once you spray it onto your face, you let it dry and you don't want to rub the product into your face. The deposits a fine mist onto your face and there aren't those annoying large droplets. I didn't smell any scent when I applied it onto my face and it definitely did a great job at adding hydration into my face.

I purchased this on The Body Shop website when they were having 40% off everything with free shipping with no minimum purchase required. I ordered one and they charged me for two but also sent me two bottles which I didn't mind because it was so discounted. You can take this size traveling because it is only 60 ml and it retails for $12 normally online. The clear cap did fall off on me quite a few times which was rather annoying. This is 100% vegan, there is aloe vera inside the formula and it's great for sensitive skin. With this spray, you definitely need to hold it a few inches away from your face because if you don't, it will leave those larger droplets on your face. I like the mist and there isn't really a scent to it. I have very oily skin but I felt like this kept my makeup in place for the most part.

Overall Thoughts & Which One Is Worth The Money?
The spray from The Body Shop was just alright but it isn't in my top 5 makeup sprays of all time. It is a good affordable option to travel with if you can get it on sale. The Caudalie spray is nice but more on the expensive side. I would recommend stocking up when it goes on sale because I will go through these rather quickly in the fall and winter months I really dislike the placement of the stickers but that doesn't take away from the actual product itself.

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick | Review

Hey everyone! I have been wanting a good stick foundation for quite some time and when I was at the Estee Lauder Warehouse Sale | March 2018, towards the end of the sale in the last building, I came across the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick. I decided that was the one I needed in my collection and wanted to put it to the test for you!

Claims & Benefits
This claims to have a medium coverage with a natural finish and that it is for all skin types including sensitive. Of course you can either make it as sheer or as full coverage as you would like it to be. This is supposed to look like skin once applied and it's formulated with skin tone correcting pigments for a natural-looking finish. The formula claims to be lightweight and creamy. It also goes on to say that it is resistant to: water, sweat and humidity. The innovative formula uses Smart Technology for targeted moisturization or oil control depending on what the skin needs on that particular day. This product is formulated with a blend of emollients such as shea butter and olive extract.

Shade Selection & Packaging
There are 30 shades on the Sephora site but on the Bobbi Brown website, it claims to sold in 31 shades. The 3 main undertones are: neutral, yellow and pink. I'm usually neutral or yellow depending on my tan but mainly I have a neutral undertone. I picked mine up in the shade 0.75 Ivory that is described as a fair beige with light neutral undertones - for extra light to fair skin. The packaging feels luxurious, it isn't heavy when holding the foundation stick in your hand, it is super easy to travel with or pack in your makeup bag, it reminds me of a long, thicker tube of lipstick and it is retractable. It has a slight scent to it but it is barely noticeable and it isn't highly fragranced.

Where To Buy, Size & Price
You can find this on the Sephora website, on the Bobbi Brown website and you can even find this at makeup counters near you. There is .31 oz/9 g of product and it sells for $55 on the Sephora website but I paid $23 for mine at the sale.
Update: It now retails for $62 at Sephora.

Is It Worth The Splurge & How It Wore?
This is an ideal product to take on-the-go with you and it won't take long at all to blend out the foundation on your skin. I like how easy this product is to use and that I can take with it wherever I go. It would be great for on-the-go Moms or people who either don't have a lot of time to get ready in the mornings or those who want to look put together without spending a lot of time in the mirror. It layered well on my skin, I preferred having 2 layers of this foundation on my skin because it covered more of my problem areas. This is easy to use every day or on light makeup days where you may just be running errands but still want some coverage. It is light to medium coverage in my opinion and it applied smoothly onto my face. I do agree with the claims that the formula is creamy and lightweight. This is currently a good shade match for me and it did not irritate my skin. I will definitely keep this in rotation as it wore well on my skin throughout the day and if you don't mind the higher price tag, then go ahead and splurge! If you want a more affordable option and you're on a budget, check out the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation Stick.

Too Faced Chocolate Gold Eyeshadow Palette | Review & Swatches

Hey everyone! I have honestly been eyeing the Too Faced Chocolate Gold Eyeshadow Palette before it even launched and removed it once out of my cart. After doing some research on my own, I just had to purchase it because the shades will look stunning on my hazel eyes and there are so many fabulous possible colour combinations! I haven't been this excited about an eyeshadow palette in awhile and the packaging is right up my alley!

The Palette, Shade Names & Packaging
The names of the shadows are words and phrases that I actually use in my every day life. This palette honestly couldn't have been any better or any more fitting for me! My personal favourites are: Decadent, So Boujee, Holla For A Dolla and Money Bags. The packaging screamed my name and the dripping gold is everything! The gold part of the palette will get finger prints on it and you can easily wipe them away which isn't a deal breaker in my opinion as it is easy to clean. The packaging is sturdy and I would take them traveling with me because it won't occupy much space. Some shades can be doubled as a highlighter and I love a great multi-use palette!

Just like their Chocolate Soleil Bronzers and their previous Chocolate Bar Palettes, this one is no exception: they smell like chocolate!

The palette does come with a Glamour Guide and gives you step-by-step instructions on how to recreate 3 gorgeous eye looks using this palette.

Shade Range, Swatches & Formula
I do like the layout of these shadows and you can create so many different looks from an every day wearable look to a more night time, going out on the town look! You can use just this palette to create an entire look of you can use other palettes along with this one. You are getting 16 shades in total, 2 are in larger rectangular pans and 14 are smaller in size. These shadows are infused with real gold as well as cocoa powder and they claim to deliver pigmentation with one-swipe, full-coverage payoff.

I want to mention that for the swatches, I went over the finger swatches a maximum of 2 times and the shade Chocolate Gold was so pigmented that I only went over it while swatching it, once on my arm. Not only the metallic shades but also the matte shades were very creamy, soft and swatched like a dream! I had been hearing many people comment that this is one of Too Faced's better formulas as it is creamy, buttery, soft and blendable on the eyes. Just by finger swatching them initially, I agree with those claims and the formula did impress me! It is formulated without: parabens, sulfates, phthalates, gluten and it claims to be cruelty-free.

Top Row

Middle Row

 Bottom Row

Size, Price & Where To Buy
14 of the shadows weigh 0.03 oz/0.85 grams and the 2 larger pans weigh in at 0.07 oz/2 grams. I purchased mine on the Sephora website for $59 but you can also find it on the Too Faced website and at Ulta.
Update: It's now selling for $65 at Sephora.

Final Thoughts & Is It Worth The Money?
This is obviously a more high end palette and something that you may be thinking of splurging on. It may be early to say but I do think that this eyeshadow palette will be amongst my favourites of this year and I will be getting a lot of use out of it! It is definitely worth the splurge and it is perfect for those with hazel or green eyes to really get them to pop! This is getting displayed front and centre on my makeup vanity!

YSL Forever Light Creator CC Cream Colour Corrector in Apricot | Review

Hey everyone! I wanted to do a full review on the YSL Forever Light Creator CC Cream Colour Corrector in Apricot. I featured this in my very first Project 10 Pan blog post and finally purchased the full sized version at the L'Oreal Warehouse Sale with the intention of writing an entire dedicated review on this specific beauty item.

Benefits & Claims
This is the very first CC cream by YSL and they have integrated the GlycanactifWT complex that helps to correct the appearance of skin colour irregularities to help emphasize each person's glow. This is a colour corrector and the apricot helps to correct uneven skin tone. This claims to be a lightweight and refreshing formula that has colour correcting pigments that helps to even the skin for a natural radiant effect. They go on to claim that in just one week, the skin's appearance has visibly improved, the skin's texture looks refined, pores will look minimized and imperfections will have been reduced. It goes on to say that over time, your skin will discover an exceptional radiance with a unified tone. They claim that it is suitable for all skin types, even those with sensitive skin.

How To Apply & The Packaging
The packaging suggests to apply evenly all over the face as the last step of your skincare routine, but I either mix it in with my primer or my foundation depending on how I'm feeling that day and which products I'm using. You can even mix it in with your moisturizer because a little bit of this product goes a long way. It also says that it can be worn under makeup. I really like the squeeze tube but the two stickers that let you know that the shade is Apricot look rather cheap on the YSL packaging. The tube itself looks to be iridescent and I love squeeze tubes because you can ensure that you are getting all of the product out that is inside the tube.

Where To Buy, Price & Size
For the longest time, you couldn't get this product in Canada. When it finally launched at Sephora, I couldn't justify the hefty price tag at $75 for 40 ml of product. I finally caved in at the sale and picked it up for $45. It also comes in Rose which helps to reduce dullness as well as to help with tired-looking skin and it is made in France.

Is It Worth The Splurge?
I could be wrong but the reason why I think I got mine for such a discounted rate is because that the new YSL CC Cream has an SPF of 35 and they are advertising it as a CC Primer. I don't care either way because I use SPF every single day and it does the same thing that I want it to do anyway. Also, they should really have more options than just two in Rose and Apricot. However, I really enjoy using this product and it is obviously more of a high-end, luxurious face product. You definitely don't need it in your makeup collection but I enjoy using it and it's perfect to use in Spring as well as Summer for more of a luminous, glowy look. My favourite way is to mix some of this in with my BB Cream to get a radiant, glowing look or to mix in some with my foundation to get that glowing from within look. This tube will last me quite some time due to it's size and the packaging makes it easy to travel with.

Dulce Candy x Tartan + Twine Periwinkle Leaves Hanging Makeup Bag & Travel Makeup Bag | Review

Hey everyone! I featured these two items in my Buffalo Shopping Haul | Spring 2018. I have been eyeing these items for a few months now and even watched Dulce's Bag Collection at Ulta Reveal video. I wanted to support her and now let's get into the detail of each bag!

Dulce Candy x Tartan + Twine Periwinkle Leaves Hanging Makeup Valet
This was actually the bag that I was most excited to get my hands on because whenever I travel, I always bring about 3-5 small makeup bags to fit all my items and I just hate it! I wanted one unit where I can fit all of my essentials in that can just hang somewhere with out taking up so much extra counter space. This does just that for me and it comes with a magnetic closure at the front and there is a gold hook which allows me to hang this wherever I choose.

There are 3 compartments one the first one and the bottom section are a breathable mesh material. The bottom piece is larger than the top. The middle area is detachable and you can actually just take that one bag to put it in your purse or beach bag which I really like. It folds up nicely and doesn't take up too much room which is another plus. The material is also easy to clean and I just love the print! The regular price was $44 and I found it on sale for $21.97 as this is a limited edition collection, once they sell out, that's it! I actually found this behind the travel bag section on the bottom shelf and there were maybe 5-6 left of each item - maybe less.

Dulce Candy x Tartan + Twine Periwinkle Leaves Portable Makeup Train Case
I almost didn't pick this up but I figured that it could come in handy and I could get some great use out of it. There are two tiers and the top section has a small mesh zipper compartment where you can put in some necessary beauty essentials. There is also 5 slots where you can put in your makeup brushes and the best part is there is a plastic piece that protects your brush heads from transferring the makeup over to the mesh section. The bottom part is where I plan on storing all of my makeup and I'm happy that it is quite large! It can fit a lot of makeup and even some of my palettes. I love that it has a handle and I had something that was similar but it only had 1 compartment but it was so old that I eventually had to throw it out because it was in rough shape. This is now the replacement for that and it was $40 but I paid $19.97 for it. I really like the attention to detail and the thought that went into each piece. You can definitely notice it on the zipper detailing alone as Dulce is a Leo like myself.

I wanted to show what you can actually fit in the Makeup Train Case specifically down below.

How To Use A MAC Beauty Powder

Hey everyone! Before I purchased my first MAC Beauty Powder, I often wondered how exactly you should be using this powder and I wanted to give you some tips on how to use a beauty powder.

Beauty powders are designed to to a multi-purpose product that can be used in various ways. I like to use my particular powder in the shade Play It Proper to set my under eye area. It is pearlized and I can also use this shade as a highlight. If you want to kick it up a notch, you can spray your brush with some setting spray and then go in to really intensify your highlight. You can also spray your brush and pack it onto your lid or just go in with the colour alone onto your brow bone. You can use it as a blush topper and it is a fine powder so feel free to layer it onto your face to your liking.

The particular shade that I own was limited edition and it is now discontinued.

You can clearly tell that I use my beauty powder a lot because the design of the troll in the middle has worn down quite a bit. I purchased mine at the Estee Lauder Warehouse Sale in Fall of last year.

I also thought that it would be helpful if I shared some of my go-to brushes that I enjoy using to apply the beauty powder with. The Real Techniques Contour Brush is great to use right underneath the eyes to lightly dust on powder. I also reach for the Sephora PRO Contour Kabuki Contouring Brush #82 quite frequently to use in conjunction with my beauty powder because it hugs the under eye area perfectly with the brush!
