Switching All My Plastic & Wire Hangers To Velvet Hangers | Closet Organization

Hey everyone! I have been wanting to do this project for the longest time and since Spring is here, what better time to revamp my closet? I was tired of the wire hangers pulling my knit sweaters and stretching them out. I was also constantly rehanging my clothes as they were constantly falling off the old hangers. Overall. I was curious to see if it would actually save that much space so let's get hanging!

Where To Buy, Size, Type, Colour Options & Claims
I found these hangers online at Amazon for an affordable price and I got two kinds of hangers. One type of hanger is great for tops and dresses meanwhile the other one can hang pants, belt or scarves along with tops as well as dresses. I wanted to have both options and the more basic hanger came with 60 hangers (15 in one bundle for a total of 4 bundles in one box,) and I purchased it online for $24.99. The more versatile hanger only came with 50 hangers (12 or 13 hangers in 1 bundle with a total of 4 bundles,) and I paid $21.99 for the set. Again, it all depends what you're in the market for but I was open to options and I actually chose the nude (ivory) over the popular black velvet hangers because they were at least $5 less for a set. I don't even pay attention to the colour of my hangers when I'm looking for a specific article of clothing anyway but if that does matter to you, Zober hangers come in a range of colours. You can choose from: nude (ivory,) black, hot pink, grey and Burgundy.

Update: The 50-pack of Zober Hangers is now $36 and it no longer comes in the 60-pack. The 50-pack retails for $27 to hang tops and dresses.

They claim to be ultra thin, they will save you space, that they are strong and durable as they can hold up to 10 pounds. I don't hang my pants because I fold them but the pack with
50 hangers claims that the horizontal bar is covered in velvet that helps to grip to pants so that they won't slip off the hanger and also prevents the pants from creasing. You can also use these hangers to hang heavier items such as coats or lightweight items like tank tops as  the shoulder line on the hanger is contoured to help preserve the shape of the garment you wish to hang. The notches help that the straps stay in place and the top that you hang won't fall off the velvet hanger. These do come with a chrome swivel hook.

Is It Worth The Time & Money To Switch Over To Velvet Hangers?
I would say that it is and take a look at my before and after if you don't believe me! These hangers from Zober claim to free up to 50% more space on your garment rack when using these slim hangers. I got them for a great price on Amazon for a larger amount of hangers as I have seen them being sold at: Winners, Marshalls, Urban Planet and other stores for a much higher amount for less hangers in a bundle. I know that I have a lot of clothes hung up but I like to be able to see everything and I actually took the doors off my closet for that exact reason. It gives it a more uniform look and it did save me a little bit of space but not as much as it claimed to. The colour listed on one of the boxes is wrong as it says black, but it shows which type of hanger is in each box.

Some Tips & What Did You Do With Your Old Hangers?
The wire hangers that I was previously using, were honestly from the cleaners. I gave some to my family members and threw out the rest in the garbage bin because I had no use for them anymore. I'm over wire hangers and switching all my clothes over to velvet hangers was a great decision. My clothes are no longer falling off the hangers like they used to and I can go ahead and cut off the straps sewn inside the garments that are there to help hang the clothes on the garments for display. I always tucked them in when I was wearing my clothes because I knew that if I cut them off, they wouldn't stay on my old hangers and I no longer have that problem! I also could have ordered all of the hangers that came in the 60 pack because I do not hang up my pants, but I ordered both because on some hangers, I hung up multiple things and the larger hangers did come in handy but it wasn't necessary for me to have. I just like variety and options so I ordered both kinds from Amazon.

Until next time,
