ELF Mad for Matte 2 Eyeshadow Palette Swatches & Review

Hey everyone! I have been hearing about the ELF Mad for Matte 2 Eyeshadow Palette for a few months now and have heard nothing but amazing things! I had to get my hands on it when ELF was having their free shipping promotion and let's see how these shades performed!

Eyeshadow Palette Overview
This palette is smaller in size as I had imagined that it would be but not in a bad way. Each shade is decently sized and this would be great to travel with because it is so compact! There is a narrow mirror when you open up the palette that is longer in width than in height. The shades do not have names but that doesn't bother me in the least. I love how they laid out these shadows and you have enough neutrals as well as colours in this palette. There are some eye looks using this particular palette on the ELF website in-case you're interested in trying one out or if you are in need of some inspiration!

Price, Size & Shade Selection
This retails for $10 on the ELF website and I have not seen it in-stores in Canada where ELF is sold because it is an online exclusive to my knowledge. It is sold out quite a bit so make sure to purchase it online when you do see that it is in-stock! It breaks down to $1/shadow which really is incredible! You are getting 10 gorgeous shades and they are all matte as the name of the palette suggests. You can go for a bold eye look or a subtle, more neutral look depending on your mood. The net weight of the palette is 0.49 oz/14 g and you get a lighter shade as well as a darker shade which I really do appreciate in a palette.

ABH Modern Renaissance Comparison
This palette does remind me of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette quite a bit and they are both creamy shades but the ones I swatched from the ABH palette ($55 CAD,) were more silky in texture. The Mad for Matte 2 Eyeshadow Palette does give the ABH Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette a run for it's money though because some shades are almost identical to one another. You are getting 14 shades in the ABH palette and you can find it at Sephora or Ulta. There are some shimmery shades in the palette and it is not strictly mattes unlike this palette which is all matte shades.

How It Performed & Is It Worth The Money?
When I was first finger swatching these, I was surprised at how buttery, creamy and smooth these were! To be honest with you, I had purchased several ELF eyeshadow palettes in the past and they were not even close in consistency to how this one is! They have definitely improved the formula significantly and the one colour that wasn't as pigmented as the others was the plum, purple shade. It wasn't bad but you may have to pack a little bit more onto your lids when you are using this shade. I especially love the warm shades and I will definitely be reaching for this palette quite often! The price honestly cannot be beat and this palette definitely lives up to it's hype!

This was taken outdoors when the clouds were covering the sun.

Until next time,

STAY CLASSY
