Seraphine Botanicals | Chia + Camellia Eyeshadow Palette | Review & Swatches

Hey everyone! I had never heard of this brand prior to writing this post so let's see how the Chia + Camellia Eyeshadow Palette performed!

Claims, Shade Range & Swatches
There are multiple claims on this palette including that it is: 100% natural, hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, not tested on animals, vegan, GMO-free and gluten free. It is made without: mineral oil, parabens and phthalates. The shadows are formulated with kaolin clay as well as camellia and chia seed oil. These colours are feminine and girly but you can still create a smoky eye with these shadows.

There are 3 mattes and 6 shimmers. Some shimmers are more intense than others such as the top left in the first row which applied well with both a brush as well as my fingers. The top right in the first row was a fail for me and wasn't nearly as shimmery. The pink shade underneath the first shade that I spoke about, I added it to my lower lash line and it really didn't do much. The mattes were an all around fail for me as the two lighter shades in the palette (centre shade and one right underneath it,) didn't look like anything after I went in with different brushes 3 times (of each shade,) on my upper & natural crease. The deep brown shade on the right side in the bottom row was a little bit more pigmented than the other 2, but not by much and the shadow honestly looked muddy on my outer corner. The sixth shade (from the left) that I swatched was amongst one of the best shadows in the entire eyeshadow palette as that formula performed very well with lots of pigment. It was also very smooth and creamy. Keep in mind that I did finger swatch these quite heavily and I had to go over most of them several times.

Packaging, Where To Buy & Size
I am a fan of the packaging as it is small enough to travel with and I like the simplicity of it. I appreciate the size of the mirror because if I'm traveling, I do use the mirror in my palettes and compacts. It retails for $52 USD on their website and there isn't a ton of information about this palette on the Internet. I also gathered online that some people received this eyeshadow palette in various beauty box subscriptions. There is a net weight of 10 grams/0.35 oz and the product is distributed in Las Vegas Nevada. It is formulated in the UK and the packaging is made in China where they print the box with soy ink.

Is It Worth Adding To Your Makeup Collection?
Honestly, the mattes disappointed me and they were definitely powdery. I only liked 1 of the very shimmery shades and keeping a palette for only 1 shade is never a good idea. Despite this being a vegan, cruelty-free and gluten-free palette, I would skip on it due to the performance of the eyeshadows. They take too long to work with, you end up using more product and the results are not even worth the hassle. This will be placed in my eyeshadow drawer but I will probably end up forgetting about it, not using it and then decluttering it to be very honest with you. The shadows faded throughout the day and blended out into almost nothing.

Too Faced Chocolate Gold Eyeshadow Palette | Review & Swatches

Hey everyone! I have honestly been eyeing the Too Faced Chocolate Gold Eyeshadow Palette before it even launched and removed it once out of my cart. After doing some research on my own, I just had to purchase it because the shades will look stunning on my hazel eyes and there are so many fabulous possible colour combinations! I haven't been this excited about an eyeshadow palette in awhile and the packaging is right up my alley!

The Palette, Shade Names & Packaging
The names of the shadows are words and phrases that I actually use in my every day life. This palette honestly couldn't have been any better or any more fitting for me! My personal favourites are: Decadent, So Boujee, Holla For A Dolla and Money Bags. The packaging screamed my name and the dripping gold is everything! The gold part of the palette will get finger prints on it and you can easily wipe them away which isn't a deal breaker in my opinion as it is easy to clean. The packaging is sturdy and I would take them traveling with me because it won't occupy much space. Some shades can be doubled as a highlighter and I love a great multi-use palette!

Just like their Chocolate Soleil Bronzers and their previous Chocolate Bar Palettes, this one is no exception: they smell like chocolate!

The palette does come with a Glamour Guide and gives you step-by-step instructions on how to recreate 3 gorgeous eye looks using this palette.

Shade Range, Swatches & Formula
I do like the layout of these shadows and you can create so many different looks from an every day wearable look to a more night time, going out on the town look! You can use just this palette to create an entire look of you can use other palettes along with this one. You are getting 16 shades in total, 2 are in larger rectangular pans and 14 are smaller in size. These shadows are infused with real gold as well as cocoa powder and they claim to deliver pigmentation with one-swipe, full-coverage payoff.

I want to mention that for the swatches, I went over the finger swatches a maximum of 2 times and the shade Chocolate Gold was so pigmented that I only went over it while swatching it, once on my arm. Not only the metallic shades but also the matte shades were very creamy, soft and swatched like a dream! I had been hearing many people comment that this is one of Too Faced's better formulas as it is creamy, buttery, soft and blendable on the eyes. Just by finger swatching them initially, I agree with those claims and the formula did impress me! It is formulated without: parabens, sulfates, phthalates, gluten and it claims to be cruelty-free.

Size, Price & Where To Buy
14 of the shadows weigh 0.03 oz/0.85 grams and the 2 larger pans weigh in at 0.07 oz/2 grams. I purchased mine on the Sephora website for $59 but you can also find it on the Too Faced website and at Ulta.
Update: It's now selling for $65 at Sephora.

Final Thoughts & Is It Worth The Money?
This is obviously a more high end palette and something that you may be thinking of splurging on. It may be early to say but I do think that this eyeshadow palette will be amongst my favourites of this year and I will be getting a lot of use out of it! It is definitely worth the splurge and it is perfect for those with hazel or green eyes to really get them to pop! This is getting displayed front and centre on my makeup vanity!

My 5 Most Used Eyeshadow Palettes | Affordable & High End

Hey everyone! Many of us have too many palettes in our collection or palettes that have nice packaging, but we never use them. I wanted to share with you my top 5 eyeshadow palettes (both high end and affordable,) that I have used many times as well as even travelled with that I think are worth every penny!

1. Urban Decay Naked Palette - I have had this palette for quite some time now and I still find myself using it! I have packed this in my carry-on many times and there is a great shade range! It retails for $66 CAD on the Sephora web site along with the other palettes in the series with 12 eyeshadow pans. This is the first edition you can honestly do so many different looks with this one palette!

2. Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette - I purchased mine when I was in Hollywood and I have hit pan on 3 of the shades! I love that there is a carbon black shade called 'Crave' and that there is one shimmery shade in the palette named 'Venus.' There are two matte shades that you can use all over the lid and they also give you a choice of two matte crease colours. It retails for $36 CAD and you can purchase it at Sephora.

3. Carli Bybel 14 Color Eyeshadow & Highlighter Palette - I do have an entire blog post on this where I reviewed this palette and I constantly find myself reaching for this lovely palette! It has 14 eyeshadows and 4 beautiful highlighters that I use in rotation! I packed this with me on vacation several times and it has a nice sized mirror! The shades are great for every skin tone and I can use this when I am on the more fair side or even when I am more tanned. It is very affordable as it retails for $14.50 USD on the BH Cosmetics web site and keep in mind that this is limited edition. Once all the palettes are sold out, there are no more being made and you will have to purchase it on eBay or Amazon.

4. BH Cosmetics Neutral Eyes 28 Colour Eyeshadow Palette - This is also another affordable palette that is sold for $12 USD on the BH Cosmetics web site. As you can probably tell already, I love neutral shades and these pans are quite large which is another bonus! The pans are rather pigmented and you get 28 shades which are perfect to create a plethora of different looks! I purchased this a little over 2 years now and I showed it in my Black Friday + Cyber Monday Collective Haul post.

5. Morphe 35O Eyeshadow Palette - I purchased the palette with both shimmers and mattes because I didn't want a palette that just had one or the other - I wanted both! I am very happy with this palette and I know that it was very hyped up. I say that it does live up to its hype and if you love a great warm toned palette, this one is definitely for you! I purchased mine for $22.99 USD on the Morphe web site. I did haul this in a past blog post where I showed you what items I purchased when I received my very first order online from Morphe.

Let me know in the comments what your most used palettes are!
