My 5 Most Used Eyeshadow Palettes | Affordable & High End

Hey everyone! Many of us have too many palettes in our collection or palettes that have nice packaging, but we never use them. I wanted to share with you my top 5 eyeshadow palettes (both high end and affordable,) that I have used many times as well as even travelled with that I think are worth every penny!

1. Urban Decay Naked Palette - I have had this palette for quite some time now and I still find myself using it! I have packed this in my carry-on many times and there is a great shade range! It retails for $66 CAD on the Sephora web site along with the other palettes in the series with 12 eyeshadow pans. This is the first edition you can honestly do so many different looks with this one palette!

2. Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette - I purchased mine when I was in Hollywood and I have hit pan on 3 of the shades! I love that there is a carbon black shade called 'Crave' and that there is one shimmery shade in the palette named 'Venus.' There are two matte shades that you can use all over the lid and they also give you a choice of two matte crease colours. It retails for $36 CAD and you can purchase it at Sephora.

3. Carli Bybel 14 Color Eyeshadow & Highlighter Palette - I do have an entire blog post on this where I reviewed this palette and I constantly find myself reaching for this lovely palette! It has 14 eyeshadows and 4 beautiful highlighters that I use in rotation! I packed this with me on vacation several times and it has a nice sized mirror! The shades are great for every skin tone and I can use this when I am on the more fair side or even when I am more tanned. It is very affordable as it retails for $14.50 USD on the BH Cosmetics web site and keep in mind that this is limited edition. Once all the palettes are sold out, there are no more being made and you will have to purchase it on eBay or Amazon.

4. BH Cosmetics Neutral Eyes 28 Colour Eyeshadow Palette - This is also another affordable palette that is sold for $12 USD on the BH Cosmetics web site. As you can probably tell already, I love neutral shades and these pans are quite large which is another bonus! The pans are rather pigmented and you get 28 shades which are perfect to create a plethora of different looks! I purchased this a little over 2 years now and I showed it in my Black Friday + Cyber Monday Collective Haul post.

5. Morphe 35O Eyeshadow Palette - I purchased the palette with both shimmers and mattes because I didn't want a palette that just had one or the other - I wanted both! I am very happy with this palette and I know that it was very hyped up. I say that it does live up to its hype and if you love a great warm toned palette, this one is definitely for you! I purchased mine for $22.99 USD on the Morphe web site. I did haul this in a past blog post where I showed you what items I purchased when I received my very first order online from Morphe.

Let me know in the comments what your most used palettes are!

Tarte Energy Noir Clay Palette Review

Hey everyone! I really love the presentation of this palette! Let's start swatching some shades and explore this gorgeous Tarte Energy Noir Clay Palette more in-depth shall we?

The Packaging
I love the gorgeous purple colour on the exterior packaging paired with gold surrounding the palette and on the bottom of it too! There is a nice sized rectangular mirror that would be awesome to do your makeup in!

What You're Getting
I plan on bringing this when I travel next because you get: 6 square Amazonian clay eye shadows (4 matte and 2 shimmer,) 2 rectangular shaped Amazonian clay eye shadows that are both matte, one Amazonia clay highlighter that is the same size as the two aforementioned matte shadows and you also get an Amazonian clay 12-Hour blush. I do like that it comes with a step-by-step guide to recreate two different eye shadow looks using the shades in the palette. Another thing I did like is that it came with a plastic insert telling me the names of each shade but I feel like it can be easy to lose. I wish the names of the shadow were somehow incorporated directly into the palette on the packaging for easy reference.

The Pans Inside
Keep in mind that the blush is almost full size (in this palette, the blush is 1.91 oz and a single Amazonian clay blush from Tarte is 0.2 oz retailing for $35 CAD on the Sephora web site.) However, I couldn’t find a single of the full sized version of Unearthed which is the name of the blush in the palette, on the Sephora web site. The same thing with the highlighter Crystal Spark. If you love these shades enough, you will have to buy the palette again until they come out with singles or refillable palettes.

Swatches
I am not trying to sound picky but I do wish that there was a matte black and a matte white shadow in this palette. That would make it absolutely perfect! I am a highlighter junkie and I do wish that it was larger in size because dipping my brush into the shade may be a little awkward but I’m sure that I’ll make it work!
I swatched the top three eyeshadows and the blush. The brown eyeshadow I found to be patchy.

I will be getting a lot of use out of this palette in the fall because the colours will be perfect to use during that time of year!

Until next time,

STAY CLASSY.

Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette Review

Hey everyone! Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette VS. The Anastasia Contour Kit

Before making the decision to get this palette, I was debating between this one and the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit. I decided to go with the Kat Von D palette because: the pans are larger, less people broke out from using this contour kit, there were more reviews on the Sephora web site and they were higher ranked for the Kat Von D Contour Palette. The only thing I wished that this palette offered is that you can pop out the pan once it is finished and buy a replacement to insert into that same palette. The Anastasia Contour Kit offers this and it is really convenient to replace one of your most used colours instead of repurchasing the entire palette again. Also, there is only a $3 CAD difference between the two palettes which isn't much at all.

Packaging
There is a nice sized mirror that comes with the palette which I unfortunately probably won't use much. I like the names she came up for the shades were are unique and memorable. The one thing I don't like is the black packaging for the sole reason that it will leave fingerprints all over the entire palette from touching my makeup with my hands. Despite that, the palette feels sturdy enough to travel with and closes firmly.

The Shades
I felt as though these shades were: smooth, creamy, soft, blendable, easy to work with, pigmented and buildable. I am impressed and I think that Lyric is my favourite highlight shade because of my yellow undertone. When I get more of a tan, I can easily use the next darkest shade to contour with which is appreciated because what girl doesn't like a selection of colours to choose from?

Overall
This is a very well thought-out palette that is worth the money you spend on it. I will definitely be getting much use out of it and will easily be able to pack it when I end up traveling next!

Until next time,

STAY CLASSY.
