Review on 3 Drugstore Foundations

Hey everyone! I wanted to write a post on my thoughts and feelings on 3 different foundations from the drugstore. I absolutely love affordable products and wanted to let you know if each one is worth your hard earned coins or not!

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation in 103 True Ivory ($9 ) - This is a product that I purchased on sale at Wal-Mart for $8 and although they didn't have the shade Light Ivory in-stock, I purchased True Ivory and it still works well for me. This is a mousse consistency and I love mixing it in with my Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation to get a flawless finish to my skin! I bought this because I have oily skin and anything that claims to help with the shine, I am automatically drawn to! This did in-fact help control my oils throughout the day to a certain extent. There are 7 shades and they also have a primer to go along with this foundation which I haven't tried out yet. If you are wondering, this is definitely a full coverage foundation, it is build able, I apply mine with a beauty blender and a little bit goes a long way!

COVERGIRL truBlend Liquid Makeup in l5 Creamy Natural ($10-$12) - I was actually sent this product to review and it is overall not a bad product. It is not one of my favourites however but I prefer it over the COVERGIRL 3-in-1 Foundation which I actually ended up returning because it didn't work out well for me. It also oxidized like crazy and I was looking like an Oompa Loompa during my shift. I digress, this foundation is a little bit too dark for me right now but I mix it in with another one to even my complexion out. They have an excellent shade range as they have 21 shades to choose from and for some, this can be a great every day foundation to wear to go to work or school.

Since I have oily skin, I can't use this foundation alone and that's why I need to mix it with another one. My face gets way too oily and looks super greasy when I wear this product alone even when using other oil-control products. I feel like this product would be best suited for people with dry skin because the oils on my face really break-up the product and it ends up looking terrible throughout the day on me. I like that it does come with a pump and I would say that this is a light to medium coverage foundation because you can sheer it out or build up the coverage to your liking.

COVERGIRL Ready, Set Gorgeous Powder Foundation in 105-110 Fair ($8) - I was able to purchase mine at Wal-Mart on sale for $7 and I had a coupon for an additional $2 off which worked out well! I was in Rexall a few weeks ago and was originally going to purchase this compact, but I ended up putting it back on the rack (which I ended up regretting doing.) That's why when I seen this on Rollback, I didn't think twice about buying it! There are only 5 shades available though and I purchased this for days where I want a more full coverage look. I would go ahead and add this on top of my foundation to give me extra coverage to ensure that none of my freckles are peaking through. I haven't used a powder foundation in about 2-3 years and I honestly miss using one!

It can also be used to quickly give yourself some coverage in the morning or you can slip it into your purse to use to touch-up throughout the day! It does come with a small makeup sponge and keep in mind that this is a small compact, you are only getting 10.5g/.37 oz of product in the pan. It does come with a mirror that I probably won't even use and this is a light to medium coverage product perfect for oily skinned ladies! Be sure not to use too much or be heavy handed with this because your face can start to look cakey throughout the day! I really want to try-out the foundation from the same line so let me know if you have tried it out and what you thought about it in the comments down below!

I also have an entire dedicated review on the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation that you can check-out which is another great foundation from the drugstore!

The Style Guide - The Fedora

Hey everyone! I have quite the collection of fedoras currently in different colours and fabrics. Some are vintage and some are quite new. If you are anything like me, you enjoy collecting them and know that there is an occasion for each hat.

We have seen the fedora on our favourite celebrities such as: Johnny Deep, Jessica Alba, Bruno Mars, Khloe Kardashian and who could forget when Harrison Ford wore one when he was Indiana Jones? This iconic hat has quickly become a staple in many of our wardrobes and it looks great on both men as well as on women!

The fedora is truly perfect to wear in any season. It is definitely an essential to take to the beach and it is perfect to complete a fall outfit. You can look chic, mysterious, classy or elegant depending on what look you are going for. It is very versatile and looks great on just about everyone!

I hoped you enjoyed viewing my collection!

Salma's Oven Baked Corn Crackers Unboxing & Review

Hey everyone! I wanted to share an unboxing and product review on my first box that I received from ChickAdvisor. I'll be talking about Salma's Oven Baked Corn Crackers that are made with 4 ingredients.

Benefits
These crackers are: oven baked, made with only 4 ingredients, there are no artificial colours, they are Gluten-Free, Non GMO and are a great light snack. There is a light crisp texture to them and 3 crackers are just 70 calories. There are no trans fats and no saturated fat. There are 0 mg of cholesterol, 0 grams of sugar and only 1 gram of fat per 3 crackers or 1 pack.

This is marketed as a new product and there is just a pinch of salt added for flavour. This is a great snack to take with you to work as the crackers are individually packaged in groups of threes, you just have to store them in a way for them not to break while you are transporting them. Another great benefit is the packaging which is made with 100% recycled fibres and it is after all, 100% recyclable once you are finished with the box.

Taste
They have really perfected the recipe and these crackers will have you wanting more! They are crispy, light and truly delicious! This was something that I would look forward to eating and the best part is that I was able to share it with my family members who also loved snacking on them! These are a great alternative to other snack foods and the best part is that they are super healthy!

How I Eat Them
There are various toppings that you can add on top and as pictured below, I like to spread a layer of Roasted Red Pepper Dip on mine and then I finish it off with a few sprinkles of Cayenne Pepper for some added spice!

You can also add some Hummus on your crackers or even some tuna! The options are truly endless!

Would I Purchase?
I would definitely purchase them after I run out of the current box that I am currently eating. You are getting a total of 8 packages of crackers inside one box and that retails on the Wal-Mart web site for $3.98 CAD which is very affordable. This is a great product and I am not just saying that because I was sent this box. #GotItFree I am excited to come up with different ways to enjoy these delicious crackers and I want to hear in the comments down below, how you eat your Salma's Oven Baked Corn Crackers!

3 Favourite Exfoliators for the Face

Hey everyone! There are many different kinds and forms of exfoliators on the market. Whether it is an exfoliator in stick form, or an enzyme powder in a jar or even a peeling gel that rolls away your dead skin. You want to exfoliate your skin after you cleanse it making it the second step in your skincare routine. I wanted to share with you my favourite ones that I have been testing out.

Tarte FRXXXTION Stick Exfoliating Cleanser - This retails for $29 CAD on the Sephora web site and you get 30 grams or 1 oz of product. I love the purple packaging and that it is a twist up! It is very easy to use and great for taking on the go! This is a 3-in-1 product because you can use it as: a cleanser, an exfoliator or as a mask if you choose to leave it on for longer. It is hypoallergenic, the stick is a gel, great for all all skin types and there is a rather cool ingredient inside called 'Fossilized Earth Microexfoliants.' To use it, you basically twist it up, apply it onto your face with the stick and then you massage it into your skin to really help exfoliate your face. It goes on black but it is not messy to use. This is a great product but it can get used up rather quickly so keep that in mind!

Peter Thomas Roth FirmX Peeling Gel - I actually featured this in a blog post where I spoke about a dupe for this exact product. I really like using it because you can actually see the dead skin rolling up on your face! It gets rid of the dead layer and leaves your skin feeling so soft! This came in the Skin Saver PTR Kit that you get get on the Sephora web site. For 100 ml of product or 3.4 oz, it retails for $60 CAD. This is honestly a unique product and these are a ton of enzymes in this product. It is great for all skin types and you can give yourself a little massage when you work the product into your skin! This is especially great to use in the colder months when your skin is dry and flaky.

Tatcha Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder - This is the most expensive one that I am going to share with you as it retails for $78 CAD on the Sephora site for 60 grams of product or 2.1 oz. This comes in a jar and it is a water activated enzyme powder. It helps get rid of any dead skin cells and leaves your skin feeling baby soft! This is best suited for normal and combination skin and is a great solution for those who have an uneven skin tone or uneven texture. It can also help if you have dull skin because this will make it more radiant and it is not harsh on the skin at all! This is dermatologist-tested, it does not irritate your skin, cruelty-free and there are many high quality ingredients inside. Even though I have oily skin, I still really enjoy using this enzyme powder to help exfoliate my skin! I purchased my smaller sized version on the Sephora web site for $32 CAD and it is called the 'Kyoto Cleanse.' It may be hard to see in the photo, but there is a small hole for the opening where the product comes out.

Just be advised that these are all smaller sized versions that I have to simply try-out the product. I have included the actual size of the full sized versions that you will receive if you do go ahead and purchase any one of these products.

Real Techniques Miracle Sculpting Sponge Review

Hey everyone! Today I am going to be sharing my thoughts on the Real Techniques Miracle Sculpting Sponge that claims to be a 6-in-1 sponge. This is a sponge to be used when helping to create shadows and also to highlight certain areas of your face. My opinions are honest and they may vary from person-to-person so please keep that in-mind.

Overview
This is a very bouncy and soft sponge. Pink is not one of my favourite colours but obviously I can look past that if the sponge works well. It is extremely light and doesn't feel like you are holding anything when they sponge is dry. It is smaller than I expected but it will of course, expand when you dampen it with water. This is a latex free product in-case you are wondering and you can also bake your face with this!

The Six Surfaces Breakdown
With my beauty blender and my ELF Precision Sponge Trio (the largest size,) I would use it to: apply foundation, blend out concealer, bake my face, apply cream/liquid highlight and to cream contour. It only makes sense that I purchased this sponge because there are: 2 flat edges to apply, 2 round sides to blend and 2 tapered ends for precision application. Of course, this is just a guideline and you will want to use whatever method best suits your needs.

Thoughts On Using The Sponge
UPDATE: I used the flat surface the most and I use the pointed end to apply highlight. I used it 3 times and washed it twice before it completely cracked! I was so disappointed and I had to return it. The Miracle Complexion Sponge by Real Techniques is SIGNIFICANTLY better than this makeup sponge. I would not recommend this sponge to my readers after my sponge cracked in two different places.

Price & Where To Buy
I purchased mine at Rexall when they were having a 20% off sale. I originally tried to purchase mine at Wal-Mart, but they only had the brushes in-stock. I paid about $8 CAD for my sponge and usually they retail for around $10-$13. If you're in the USA, you can purchase it at: Ulta, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Kmart, Kohl's or Wal-Mart. You can online purchase it online on the Real Techniques web site.

Washing Your Sponge
I do recommend that you wash it after each use because after all, you will most likely be using different liquids and creams of various colours therefore, you will want to wash it well! I just wash all my makeup sponges with Johnson's Baby Shampoo in the sink in my bathroom. Just lather it in well, squeeze out as much of the product(s) as you can and keep washing until your water is clear.

You can check out my review on the Miracle Complexion Sponge from Real Techniques and also, What's Inside Your Beauty Sponge where I cut one open!

L'Occitane Free Gift Trio

Hey everyone! I stopped in at my local L'Occitane store yesterday and wanted to share with you what I received inside my little gift box!

They are having a promotion for those who signed-up online to receive their newsletter (there was an 8 day window from February 1st-9th.) If you already received your email, you can redeem your own box in-store that contains 3 travel sized items! The best part is that you were able to refer friends as well as family members to spread the love! They also gave me a unique code for $10 off my next purchase of $35 or more which was unexpected but appreciated. I posted my unique code here for whoever wants to save $10 off their next order. The first person to use it gets it!

What's Inside?
- Shea Cleansing Oil with 5% Shea (30 ml)
- Shea Butter Hand Cream with 20% Shea (10 ml)
- Immortelle Divine Cream (4 ml)

I have used their Shea Butter Hand Cream before which I really do like and their Divine Cream is luxurious as well as great for the skin. I have never tried their Cleansing Oil and I am excited to try that out! This is honestly a great incentive to be a subscriber to their newsletter and in-case you didn't know, the 30 ml hand cream alone retails for $12 on the L'Occitane web site!

If you already received the email, make sure to redeem your free gift by February 28th because that is the cut-off date. There are only a certain amount of gift boxes allotted per store as they operate on a first-come basis so keep that in-mind! You can only redeem your gift box at the location you pre-selected and you need to show ID (driver's license, health card, etc) in-store. They will ask you a few simple questions while you are there such as your date of birth as well as your phone number, and then you get a free beautifully packaged gift! It is one per person and each person has a unique gift code. You can either print off the email or show it to the sales associate on your mobile device. I redeemed mine in Canada as this is a Canadian offer and I'm not sure if the USA is doing this as well.

Top 3 Most Used Facial Cleansers

Hey everyone! I have been on a skincare kick lately and I have been trying out a ton of products! I have two affordable cleansers and one high-end product to show you. I wanted to share with you ones that have been working for my oily skin and which ones I recommend that you check out!

Bioré Baking Soda Pore Cleanser - I originally tried a deluxe sample of this that I featured in one of my Empties blog posts, and liked it so much that I went to the store to purchase a larger size. I got mine at Wal-Mart on sale and this bottle cost me between $5-$8. It is very affordable and I love the way that it cleans my skin! It also does a great job at removing my makeup at night.

GLAMGLOW THIRSTYCLEANSE Daily Hydrating Cleanser - I purchased this when I was at the Estee Lauder Warehouse Sale and it was buy one get one free! This is the travel size which retails for $16 CAD for 30 ml on the Sephora site. For the largest size, you get 150 ml of product for $43 CAD. This does an excellent job at removing my makeup at night! I love that it has a pump and the packaging is really eye-catching. This is a mud to foam cleanser and this is perfect to use in the Winter when your skin is more dehydrated. If you do have dry skin, I wouldn't recommend this cleanser because some people claim that it can really dry out your skin, but since I have oily skin, it works very well for my skin type.

The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Balm - I also featured it on on my YouTube channel as I have an entire video on it comparing it to another cleansing balm. I also like the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm but this one is more cost effective. I love the Camomile scent and it is very easy to use. This cleansing balm melts away your makeup leaving it petal-soft! I paid $8 CAD for my tin because The Body Shop was having a 50% off site-wide sale when I placed my order. You get 90 ml of product and it is very gentle on the skin!

I also want to give a shout-out to the Peter Thomas Roth Anti-Aging Cleansing Gel. It does a great job at removing my makeup and does not irritate my skin. I used up a smaller bottle already that I featured in my October Empties. Both bottles came in 2 different Peter Thomas Roth sets from Sephora.

If you haven't already, make sure to subscribe to my Newsletter to get notified through email of when a new blog post goes live. You will be the first to know! You can enter your email on the right sidebar and it is that easy!

Most Reached for Face Masks & Sleeping Masks

Hey everyone! I was never really into using face masks until recently and now I am obsessed! Here are a few of the ones that have been working for me.

Sephora Algae Sleeping Mask - I have a dedicated blog post to this Algae Sleeping Mask that you get many uses out of and it only costs $5 CAD. I really like the light scent and it help to detoxify as well as cleanse the skin. There are different masks that serve a different purpose and you can see which one is right for you on the Sephora site. It isn't greasy at all on the skin and absorbs rather quickly. I would definitely purchase this again and you basically apply a thin layer onto your face at night. You then wake up in the morning and wash off the remainder. It leaves your skin feeling very soft and hydrated!

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask - This is designed for all skin types and this has a light fragrant scent to it. This is a gel sleeping mask that really helps hydrate your skin while you sleep. Some ingredients inside this wonderful Sleeping Mask include: orange flower, rose, and sandalwood which help to relax and rejuvenate. The full size version is $30 CAD for 2.7 oz on the Sephora web site which is a fair price in my honest opinion. I did hear that they changed the formula and the old formula is better which makes me a little bit skeptical because I'm not sure if I have the old or new formula in my travel sized container. This is a Korean skincare company which is part of Amore Pacific. Laneige also has a Lip Sleeping Mask that I am very intrigued to try-out and I did use up a travel size jar of the Multiberry Yogurt Repairing Mask that I found to be just alright. It didn't do anything groundbreaking to change my skin and if you do not like yogurt, I wouldn't recommend this product to you; It does have the consistency of yogurt and it does smell similar to it.

I did use a sample from Sephora of the GLAMGLOW GRAVITYMUD Firming Treatment that I featured in my December Empties and I really enjoyed using it! It is a peel off mask and it changes colour once it starts drying on your face. This is great for: Dry, Normal, Combination and Oily skin types. It is recommend to use this mud-based mask twice a week as a full face mask and it will help tighten your skin. I am definitely considering purchasing the full sized version once I use up all of my other masks! The full sized version retails for $79 CAD on the Sephora web site and you get 1.4 oz of product in one purple branded jar. I also tried the YOUTHMUD TINGLEXFOLIATE Treatment and I did not like it as much as the other mask. It dried extremely fast like in 5 minutes or so with a light layer applied all over the face. It had some chunks in the formula that I'm guessing were the Green Tea Leaf Pieces and that made it rather messy to wash off. It is still a good mask, it just wasn't my favourite. If you want to try it, Sephora has the 15 ml jar for $24 CAD that you can purchase online. You will get 3-5 uses out of it depending on how much you use.

I don't have any on hand, but I absolutely love the Sheet Masks from The Face Shop. They are the best sheet masks that I have ever used and I do have an entire dedicated post about these wonderful Sheet Masks.

Photoshoot in Peterborough & Dancing Blueberries

Hey everyone! This past Sunday, two of my friends and I went to Peterborough for a little adventure. It is winter time here, but that didn't stop us from exploring another area in Ontario! We ate some great food, did a bit of shopping, met up with another friend who is a local, and she was nice enough to show us around! We went to see the Lift Locks, the Peterborough Overlook and we feasted at Dancing Blueberries.

Lift Locks

"The Peterborough Lift Lock was designated a national historic site of Canada because it is the highest hydraulic lift lock in the world."

"It is a large concrete structure along the Trent-Severn Waterway designed to lift boats 19.8 metres."

"The lock operates on a balance system, whereby water is let into the upper chamber, a connecting valve is opened and the heavier chamber automatically descends, forcing up the lower chamber to start a new cycle."

"Official recognition refers to the lift lock, including the immediate upper and lower canal cuts, embankments and underground works associated with the function of the lock at the time of designation."

"The Peterborough Lift Lock National Historic Site of Canada is located on the Otonabee River section of the Trent Canal in the City of Peterborough, Ontario."
