February Empties | 2019

Hey everyone! It's time for another round of empties! Let's go through my trash together and see all the products that I used up in February!

Face
Tatcha The Deep Cleanse (50 ml/1.7 fl oz) - I purchased this from Sephora in the Pore-Perfection kit which also contained the Water Cream. This is a great face wash which I used at night as the second cleanser to remove my makeup. It is infused with natural exfoliants and clarifying extracts to really give your face a good wash! It didn’t dry out my face and I thoroughly enjoyed using it!

The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter (90 ml) - I still stand by this cleansing butter as it is gentle on the skin and does a great job at breaking down makeup. It is affordable and I usually can find it on sale. This product is suitable for sensitive time and lasted me a long time. The only complaint I have is that once you get near the end of the tin, there can be a weird scent. If you haven’t checked out my Clinique Cleansing Balm vs.The Body Shop Cleansing Balm Review & Demo, definitely head on over to that video!

MAC Lightful Marine-Bright Formula Cleanser (30 ml) - This exact cleanser has been discontinued and replaced with another similar product. I used this cleanser in the morning and it worked well for me apart for when the consistency changed near the end of the tube.

Estée Lauder New Dimension Shape + Fill Expert Serum (7 ml) - This product has also been discontinued and was one that I picked up at the Estée Lauder Warehouse Sale | March 2018. I really enjoyed using it and I even brought it with me when I travelled as it was the perfect size!

Bioré Deep Cleansing Pore Strips for The Face (8 count) - I have a strong feeling that they are discontinuing these pore strips because I have seen them on clearance both on store and online at 2 different retailers. These are amongst some of my favourite type of pore strips and I definitely will be stocking up on these specific kind!

Up & Up Fresh Scent Baby Wipes (72 count) - I purchased these at Target and the scent is definitely fresh! I used these after using my cleansers to ensure that all the makeup was off my face! These worked well but are not my all time favourite.

Sheet Masks
Holika Holika Pearl Pure Essence Sheet Mask (20 ml) - I surprisingly have never tried any of their sheet masks and when I stumbled across their location in Toronto, I wandered in to see what I could find! This sheet mask was $2 CAD and there were many to choose from. The easy open where you peel back apart the packaging is definitely much easier than tearing it open. I found that the mask was very delicate to handle as I wanted to avoid tearing it and it was soaked in essence. The mask fit smaller on my face which worked out better for me because my face is not that big. This sheet mask is meant for brightening the complexion and has pearl extract in the formula. I honestly enjoyed using it and I definitely would repurchase it in the future as it felt great on my skin! It is recommended that you wear it for 10-20 minutes and it is made in Korea.

PINK Rose Hydrogel Mask (28 g) - This mask is just okay and it only has the slightest hint of rose in my opinion. The mask comes in two parts, it is very saturated and is easy to apply. It is recommended that you leave it on for 10-20 minutes. My skin did drink up the essence and there was nothing at the end for me to rub into my skin further. Also, there were only a couple of the rose petals built into the mask - I expected there to be more. I much prefer the lavender sheet mask over this one! I can't find a working link.

Body
Equate Women’s Triple Blade Disposable Razors (4 razors) - I purchased these in Walmart because they were only $4 for the pack which works out to be $1 per razor. They claim to use a botanical moisture strip and that the handle is lavender scented. It does smell like lavender if you put it right under your nose but I think that the moisture strip should smell like lavender that way, when you are shaving, you can really smell it! I do like the fact that there is a image of a palm tree imprinted on the front of the handle which is a nice touch. These razors got the job done but didn’t work better than my BIC Soleil Razors which are my favourite disposable razor!

Supplements/Vitamins
Jamieson B12 Timed Release Tablets 1,200 mcg (80 count) - I purchased mine at Walmart and I really did find these effective. You do have to swallow them which isn’t an issue for me because the tablet is very small. They are a fair price and they do not have any taste at all!

Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies (220 Gummies) - I have been taking these gummies on and off for many years. I couldn’t find this exact size on the Walmart website but the product is still available. I do like taking these and go back to them when my nails are feeling brittle. You can check out my blog post on these gummies from a few years back!

Emergen-C Effervescent Powder in Pink Lemonade (30 packets) - This honestly isn’t my favourite flavour as the pink lemonade gave me a weird after taste in my mouth. I mainly bought it because this particular box helps support breast cancer awareness. I purchased this from Walmart when they had the 2 for $20 which is a great deal!

Miscellaneous
Up & Up Baby Shampoo (591 ml/20 fl oz) - This did a great job and it is a good value considering that it is comparable to Johnson’s Baby Shampoo. They now are making Johnson’s with a pump which is definitely a plus. A downfall of this product is that it is VERY prone to leaking! It spilled in the bag after I bought it and again when the bottle was turn upside down so be aware of this upon purchasing it!

Promo/Samples - Face
Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet (10 ml) - I really enjoyed using this product and it brought back moisture into my face! It is a gel-cream that is lightweight and it is packed with a ton of ingredients that are great for your skin! I combined this with my sunscreen and I used it in the morning. This is good for all skin types including sensitive and this product is made in France.

February Empties | 2018

Hey everyone! Let's take a look at all the items that I have gone through for the month of February!

Face
Cedar Phoenicia Orange Blossom Water (250 ml) - This bottle lasted me quite a long time and I used it at night to tone my face. My personal preference is using rose water at night to tone my face but I do have an entire review on The Benefits & Uses of Orange Blossom Water that you can check out.

Forever Young by Jean Pierre Makeup Removing & Cleansing Wipes (25 count) - This is a classic example of a product that I specifically purchased for the packaging. I bought it right around Halloween and had a hard time reaching for these wipes because they weren’t my favourite. They claim to be fragrance-free, but I thought they had an odd scent to them. The wipes are too soft, aren’t large enough and I would rather use them to remove arm swatches than to use on my face. I was scared that they would break because they’re not very durable and they didn’t do a good enough job at removing the makeup on my face. I purchased these from Winners for $2.99 and I also featured them in my Disappointing Products | Volume 1 post.

Jeju Volcanic Lava Aloe Nose Strips (7 count) - These are not my favourite nose strips but they are not bad either. I purchased these in bulk from The Face Shop and I do have an entire review that you are read more on.

Estee Lauder New Dimension Expert Liquid Tape (10 ml) - I purchased this from the Estee Lauder Warehouse Sale and I really disliked this product as I think it is a gimmick. I did not notice a difference in my face and the directions are very precise on how to apply this product. It did not receive good reviews online and it is an overpriced product in my honest opinion that I have no interest in ever using again. The product would leak into the cap constantly and create a mess which I dreaded dealing with. It has since been discontinued. I also featured this in my Disappointing Products | Volume 2 blog post.

Sheet Masks
Tony Moly I’m Real Seaweed Mask (21 g) - This mask was cooling on my face, it fit comfortably on the skin and I loved the scent of it! My skin did appear slightly more radiant after use and my face drank up the essence. I also really like the packaging of Tony Moly sheet masks in general with all the vibrant colours and fun images! I would definitely use this sheet mask again in a heartbeat!

Tony Moly I’m Real Red Wine Mask (21 g) - This honestly didn’t smell like red wine to me and the essence was clear, not red. Anyway, I did enjoy this mask and loved the packaging which was initially the main reason I selected this mask in the store.

Tony Moly I’m Real Broccoli Mask (21 g) - This mask was dripping in essence from the moment I tore open the packaging and after I removed the mask, there was still so much essence leftover on my face. It didn’t smell like broccoli and this isn’t one of my favourite masks from Tony Moly that I have tried out.

Nature Republic Real Nature Mask Sheet Rose (23 ml) - This is one of my favourite sheet masks of all time and I do include them in gifts throughout the year for people close to me. I love the packaging and it smells like a bed of fresh roses!

Bath & Body Works
Twisted Peppermint Deep Cleansing Hand Soap (236 ml) - The packaging is honestly so cute and I loved displaying this in my bathroom! This is hands down my favourite holiday packaging from Bath & Body Works and you can’t go wrong with a classic holiday scent from them such as this one!

Leaves Gentle Foaming Hand Soap (259 ml) - This is a great Fall scent and I have purchased it in many different forms in the past. The packaging is gorgeous and gives off a warm vibe in the bathroom. I definitely will continue to repurchase this in the future.

Car Fragrance Refill in Flannel (6 ml) - I love this scent around the Fall and Winter time. I went through an entire 3 wick candle of this scent and it is one that I look forward purchasing every year!

Nails
L’Oreal Nail Color in Brit Invasion #116 (11.7 ml) - This is a very unique colour as it is a taupe shade with a purple undertone that has gold shimmer in it. I used this to the very end until it was too clumpy to keep using, and I originally purchased this at a warehouse sale for only a few dollars.

Equate Nail Polish Remover (354 ml) - This is the extra strength formula that contains vitamin e. This is for natural nails and I just picked mine up from Walmart for a few dollars. This is not my favourite nail polish remover but it works decent if you need it in a pinch or if this is your only option. You can't get this particular nail polish remover anymore.

Promo/Samples - Face
Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet (2 ml) - This had a nice scent to it that wasn’t too overpowering and the consistency felt like a lightweight mousse but it is actually described as a gel-cream. It layered well with my sunscreen and product was a light pink. This can be used on all skin types and it helps with: dryness: dullness, uneven texture, fine lines and wrinkles. It also points out that it helps to ‘intensely moisturize and calm dehydrated, irritated skin.’ I’m surprised that more people aren’t talking about this cream and you can find it on Sephora selling for $48 for the larger size 40ml, but there is also a travel size for $25 for half the amount of product.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloth (1 count) - I really like these cleansing cloths as they remove  whatever my face wash wasn’t able to take off. These are gentle on the skin as the name suggests, and my skin felt super clean after. I would highly recommend these as they are great for those with sensitive skin!

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (4 ml) - I have used this product in the past and really like it! It helps to break down my makeup, it is a mild, soap-free formula, it’s dermatologist recommended, it’s for all skin types and you can use it on both your body as well as your face.

Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser (14 ml) - I received this at a show and this is marketed as fragrance-free. I didn’t care for this cleanser as it doesn’t foam up rather, it stays as a gel. It claims to be creamy and I highly disagree. If you have sensitive skin, you may enjoy this cleanser but I only used it in the morning and didn’t care for it overall. I honestly think that it dried out my skin because as soon as I stopped using it, my skin wasn't nearly as dry nor as tight.

Body/Hands
Nivea Anti-Age Q 10 Plus Hand Cream (100 ml) - I received this free from Chick Advisor and really enjoyed using it! My Grandma swears by Nivea products and I’m a big fan of their lip butters. This hand cream is targeted towards though with dry hands and helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles over time. It smelled great, absorbed quickly into the skin and wasn’t greasy. It didn’t irritate my psoriasis on my hands and I have a whole review on this hand cream that you can check out on my old domain.

Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion (4 ml) - This formula is: lightweight, for all skin types, dermatologist recommended, made in Canada and it did not irritate my psoriasis on my elbows.

Cetaphil RestoraDerm Replenishing Moisturizer (10 ml) - This is dermatologist tested and can be used on dry, itchy skin. I have psoriasis and it did not irritate my skin condition. It has also been accepted by the Ezcema Society of Canada. There is filaggrin inside the formula which helps to improve the skin’s ability to retain moisture. Ceramide absorbs quickly to help replenish the skin’s natural oils. You can use this all over your body and everyone in the family can benefit from this product.

Hair
Live Clean Coconut Milk Moisturizing Shampoo Conditioner (10 ml each) - I really enjoyed using these samples and they are definitely a generous size! I like to put coconut oil into my hair overnight before each wash and this was perfect to add into the mix! It smelled amazing in the shower and the shampoo lathered well! The conditioner was very hydrating and that’s what the duo claims to do as well as to restore balance to the hair. This formula is: 97% plant derived, SLS free, with certified organic botanicals, petrolatum free, DEA free, silicone free, phosphate free, phthalate free, paraben free, pure vegan, not tested on animals, Canadian, the packaging is recyclable and it contains biodegradable ingredients. I plan to purchase this in the future when I run out of my current shower duo and I found it on well.ca for under $8 for 350 ml of product which is very affordable!

Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair Deep Conditioning Mask (11.8 ml) - This was a generous sized sample that came with my online order from Sephora. There are no: sulfates, silicones or parabens inside the formula. It smells great and I slept with it overnight in my hair. I have only heard great things about this mask and it is a little pricey but there is the mini size that you can purchase to test out before committing to the larger jar.

Teeth
Colgate Slim Soft Advanced Ultra Soft Toothbrush I got this at a show I was working and this is in the top 3 toothbrushes that I have ever tried! The bristles are very soft, your teeth feel nice and clean and this is a very well made toothbrush. The bristles are longer than what I’m used to but the toothbrush makes it easy to get the molars at the back of your mouth. The only con is that because it is so lightweight in your hand, the toothbrush can end up going another way in your mouth because you may not have such a firm grip on it. That is of course very minor but I do love this toothbrush! I haven’t seen it in stores here yet and can’t wait to stock-up on these because they are that good!

Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief Lasting Fresh Toothpaste (75 ml) - I really enjoyed using this toothpaste and I tend to get sensitive teeth after I whiten my teeth for a long period of time. I also liked the design on the tube as I was able to stand this up on the counter rather than laying it flat which utilizes more space. There is quite a lot of toothpaste in this tube and I am already on my second tube!

Food
Skittles Sweet Heat (51 g) - I love spicy food and one of my favourite snacks is Hot Cheetos. I had a feeling that I would really like this and my assumption was correct! It taste like the regular skittles but once you bite into it, it unleashes a bit of heat. This isn’t spicy in my opinion but it packs a little punch. I can’t wait to each these more regular because they are definitely one of my favourite snacks now! I purchased a new bag at RCSS (Real Canadian Superstore) on sale for $2.

January Empties | 2021

Hey everyone! This is my first empties post of 2021! Let's go through my trash together!
Face

The Body Shop Elderflower Unperfumed Eye Gel (15 ml) - This had a cooling effect to it and it was a gel consistency. It was nice to use at night and it absorbed quickly into the skin. It’s fragrance free. This isn’t my favourite product however and I wouldn’t repurchase. It isn’t bad but I prefer a cream formula.

Victoria Secret Pink Wakey Eyes Pink Hydrogel Eye Mask - I can’t seem to find this on their website anymore but this was a nice hydrogel eye mask to use. It didn’t slip around on my face and it was a nice pink colour. I left mine on for 15 minutes and then tapped in the excess serum.

Bath & Body Works

Scentportable in Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin (6 ml) - I found this in my back-stock and I wanted to put it to use while we are still in the colder months. This has been a repurchase for years and it’s a great scent overall.

Body Cream in Warm Coconut Blossom (226 g/8 oz) - This is a discontinued scent and this is an Ultra Shea Body Cream. The notes include: Island Orchid, Coconut Water and Sandalwood Musk. It claims to provide 24 hours of nourishing moisture. It is infused with ultra-rich, moisturizing Shea Butter and is enriched with both Aloe Butter as well as Cocoa Butter. It is non-greasy and it really did a great job at hydrating my skin!

Hair

Nioxin Cleanser Shampoo System 1 (1 L) - I got this because in the past, I’ve purchased this directly from my Dermatologist to help with psoriasis in my scalp. The formula is blue and it has a minty scent to it. I wouldn’t say that it helps the problem but it helps to remove the build-up from my scalp and it is soothing. This bottle lasted me a very long time.

Vitamins/Supplements

Nature’s Bounty Ultra Strength B-12 5000 mcg (45 tablets) - This is my second bottle of this exact dosage and it’s really been working for me. I do feel like I have more energy throughout the day and it’s easy to take these. I purchase mine from Amazon.

Samples/Promo - Face

LANEIGE Bright Renew Capsule Sleeping Mask (3 ml x 3) - This is a one time use sleeping mask from LANEIGE. It claims to be hydrating and brightening. I found there to be a strong scent and that there was a lot of product. I used one capsule over the course of a few days. The packaging reminds me of how contact lenses come packaged! I believe that this is discontinued.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Melt-in Cream SPF 50 (15 ml) - I got this as a free sample at an event and I really liked this product! If you apply too much, there is a white residue but if you apply just the right amount, it melts into the skin. I appreciate that this has an SPF of 50 as my Dermatologist said I should use at least that on my face. This helps with those strong UV rays and I apply sunscreen on my face year round! This only pills if you use too much of it or with too many other products on your skin.

Nature Republic Real Nature Mask Sheet in Royal Jelly (23 ml) - It claims that Royal Jelly extracts provide nourishment and improve skin texture. After washing my face and applying an essence, I applied the mask, leaving it on for 20 minutes. My skin felt soft and I have to say that there was quite a bit of essence. Overall, I did enjoy using it.

Body

Dove Body Wash in Mango Butter & Almond Butter (53 ml) - I got this sent to me as a free sample to try out. I honestly loved the scent and the consistency. It made my skin so soft and smooth. It smelled like a mango smoothie to me and I felt like I was transported to a tropical island! This is a product that I would absolutely purchase the larger size of after I go through my current back-ups.

Giorgio Armani My Way Eau De Parfum (1.2 ml) - This floral fragrance claims to be a blend of consciously sourced ingredients from around the world. The Orange Blossom is from Egypt, the Tuberose & Jasmine are from India and the Vanilla is from Madagascar. This is not a perfume that I would have chose out on my own but it works with my body chemistry. Not sure if I would purchase a bigger size of this.

Body

Shea Moisture 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Shea Butter Soap (227 g) - This is made with Coconut Milk and Acacia Senegal. It claims to help soften and restore the skin. There are exfoliating beads in the soap and I found there to be a subtle, pleasant scent. This is a big bar of soap that should last me quite some time! I got this from a friend.

Sol De Janeiro Coco Cabana Cream (25 ml) - This was part of my birthday gift from Sephora last year and although this one was nice, I much prefer the original scent. This delivers hydration for your skin that makes it feel soft. This is an oil-in-water cream.

January Empties | 2019

Hey everyone! Welcome to my first Empties post of 2019! Let's check out all the items that I used up during the first month of the new year!

Face
Bioré Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips (8 count) - This claims to draw out excess oil with natural charcoal and that it is great for oily skin which I do have. They can be quite messy and you really need to get off the black residue left on your nose once you peel off the strip. I honestly feel like the white strips from Bioré are more effective and work the best for me. I purchased mine on sale at Walmart for $7.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Multivitamin Booster (30 ml) - I’m a big fan of the Hydro Boost line in general and it claims to intensely hydrate and energizes the look of skin which I do agree with. It contains hyaluronic acid which is one of my favourite ingredients and I really like the design of the bottle! It comes with a pump and it looks great on my vanity. This is an affordable product that you can purchase at Walmart and I got this in my Chick Advisor Showcase At Home Kit.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Cucumber and Green Tea (118 ml) - I have tried 3/4 of their facial sprays as the Orange Blossom Facial Spray is only available at Ulta and I have yet to try it. This is my second favourite one and the Rosewater Facial Spray is definitely my favourite! You can now find these sprays at Sephora Canada and also at Urban Outfitters in Canada which is exciting!

Sheet Masks
Bubble & Chill Charcoal Bubbling Sheet Mask (20 g/0.7 oz) - This is my first time trying out a sheet mask from Victoria Secret PINK. I picked this up before their Semi-Annual Sale where they were having 40% off the entire store. I wanted to try this because I had never tried a bubbling/foaming sheet mask and had heard interesting things about it. The mask is charcoal and it fits comfortably on the skin without being too large. About 1 minute in while wearing the mask, I noticed that I can actually hear the bubbles crackling! When I got up and walked over to the mirror, the bubbles were developing faster on the sheet mask. I did have a decent amount of bubbles all throughout the sheet mask but after I took it off and tried to massage the product in like the directions said to, it was like I was rubbing soap mixed with water all over my face. I quickly grabbed a tissue, wiped it off my face and the result left my skin feeling sticky. I do feel that this is slightly gimmicky and it was fun to use once but I wouldn’t repurchase it but I do have to mention that my skin did look more radiant. Also, follow the directions and don’t wear this for more than 10 minutes and I definitely wouldn’t recommend this for sensitive skin types. This sheet mask is made in Korea and normally retails for $4.95 CAD.

Lavender Hydrogel Mask (28 g) - I am a huge fan of lavender and I also do tend to like hydrogel masks so I was inclined to pick this up from PINK when they were having 40% off the entire store. The mask comes in two pieces and it is cooling on the skin. It also says that it has bits of real lavender and claim to give you a ‘dewy glow.’ This was easy to apply and didn’t slide around like other hydrogel masks that I’ve tried in the past which is a pro! It was cooling and it smelled like real lavender! Lavender is meant to be soothing and calming which this sheet mask definitely was! My skin absorbed almost all of the product after wearing it for 20 minutes, except where it overlapped underneath my nose area as the mask did come in 2 parts. This may just be one of my all-time favourite masks that I’ve ever used and you only need to leave it on for 10-20 minutes! This mask also retails for $4.95 and is made in Korea. I can't find a working link.

Silver Belle Foil Sheet Mask (26 g) - Yes, this sheet mask is silver and yes, I did feel like the tin man from Wizard of Oz while wearing it. It contains nourishing vitamin B3 and the foil claims to lock in skin-boosting ingredients. I didn’t really care too much for this mask as the scent reminded me of soap and water. The mask itself didn’t do much for my skin and I feel like this is more of a gimmick. However, there was a lot of essence in the packaging leftover for another application. Can't find a working link.

Espresso Yourself Energizing Sheet Mask (28 g) - This mask is made with coffee extract and no, it does not smell like coffee. The packaging honestly made me purchase it and this is definitely a messy sheet mask that is drenched in essence! I left mine on for 15 minutes like the directions suggested to and it worked well! However, I went online and for whatever reason, this sheet mask is no longer listed on the PINK website so I don’t know if it is being discontinued or not.

May Island Potato Sheet Mask (25 ml) - This specific sheet mask claims to help with elasticity and adds in moisture to the skin. It says to leave the mask on for 20-30 minutes. There is a scent that reminds me of my childhood that I can’t quite pinpoint. It doesn’t smell great but the sheet mask was refreshing on my face. It is made in Korea and I honestly just purchased it because I thought it was rather odd as well as unique that potato was a main ingredient.

Teeth
Crest 3D Whitestrips in Classic Vivid (20 strips) - These are a great affordable option that I picked up at Walmart. They claim to be enamel sage and that it can remove up to 5 years of tough stains. I drink coffee every single day so I have to use white strips to maintain my pearly whites. You only have to leave these on for 30 minutes and I always take some form of whitening product with me when I am traveling.

Hair
Garnier Fructis Wondermask + Coconut Oil (15 ml x 2) - I purchased this on clearance when I was in a Target in Michigan and I believe that I paid $1.24 for it. This lasted me a few washes and it’s an in-shower treatment mask. After you shampoo your hair, you leave in step one and then you follow with step 2 in order to seal it in. You leave it for 3 minutes and then wash it out. Yes, it’s two extra steps to do in the shower but my hair felt so soft and I really enjoyed using it! I would repurchase this again and I believe that it comes in other scents. This has been discontinued.

Eva NYC Clean It Up Shampoo (1 L/33.8 fl oz) - I purchased the large size that comes with a pump from Marshalls on clearance for $11 CAD. That is such a good deal as it has lasted me such a long time and I actually never got sick of using the shampoo which is a rarity for me! The formula contains: keravis protein and organ oil. It claims to gently cleans, restores and nourishes all hair types. They do not test on animals and I also really enjoy using their hair mask which I own!

Bath & Body Works
’Tis The Season Scentportable (6 ml) - This is the second one that I have used up. I purchased a few of these last year during the Bath & Body Works Semi-Annual Sale for just a few scents. This is great to use during the colder months especially around Christmas!

Body
Secret Invisible Solid Antiperspirant in Paris Rose (45 g) - I purchased mine from Walmart and I wouldn’t say that it is invisible as I still noticed white marks on my clothes. This did the job and it smelled great. I would only repurchase if I was in a pinch.

Promo/Samples - Face
Drunk Elephant Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser (1.5 ml) - This was just a basic, average cleanser in my opinion. It did the job and my skin felt clean, without feeling stripped afterwards. For 150 ml of product, the tube will run you $42 so it is more on the expensive side.

Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream (1.5 ml) - I found this cream to be very moisturizing, non-sticky and it absorbed into the skin quickly. I applied it at night to really hydrate my skin. The first ingredient is water and it is made in the USA. The full size is $84 for 50 ml which is a bit steep but it is a great moisturizer.
Update: It's now $89 instead of $84 on the Sephora website.

Clinique Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate (7 ml) - I received this as a free sample from Sephora and Clinique products are very hit or miss for me in general. This one was just okay and I used it in the morning alongside my sunscreen. This claims to be for all skin types and that it quenches dehydrated skin for 24 hours. I live in Canada where it’s very cold and I felt that it didn’t do the job. Also when I would mix it in with my sunscreen, sometimes it would tend to ball up on my face which is one of my biggest pet peeves. It’s safe to say that I wasn’t the biggest fan.

Perricone MD Cosmeceuticals Cold Plasma (2 ml) - This was a free sample that I received from Sephora and the scent reminded me of fish oil pills. Random, but true as it was not the most pleasant. Your skincare is not meant to smell good and a lot of added fragrance can actually dry out your skin but I digress. This is recommended to be used after you cleanse your skin in both the morning as well as the evening, but I only used it at night. It was a pretty good product and my skin did look better but then again, I’ve been trying out a lot of different skincare products lately and I would have to use it for a longer period of time to really notice significant results.

Sothys Purifying Foaming Gel This product is meant for combination to oily skin types which I definitely have and was a sample given to me by my facialist. It smells great and has iris extract in the formula. I noticed that it was more of a gel rather than a foaming gel. I tried removing my makeup with it after I went in with a cleansing balm and it worked well! I enjoyed using it but I’m not completely sold on it just yet. The first ingredient is water and this product is made in France.

Sothys Hydra-Protective Softening Emulsion This is targeted for those with normal to combination skin. This is another sample given to me by my facialist. It smells great, it is a thicker cream and it helped to moisturize my skin.

Lips
Bite Beauty Agave Sugar Lip Scrub (0.50 g) - I got this from Sephora as part of the free 2018 Birthday Gift. The full size goes for $29 (20 grams,) which is expensive and much more than a sugar lip scrub at LUSH (25 grams). It was a good lip scrub and they use raw brown sugar as well as papaya enzymes in their formula.

Bite Agave Lip Balm (0.50 g) - I did enjoy using this lip balm as I felt that it moisturized my lips well and it goes on clear. They use both agave and rare Madagascan vanilla in their formula. The full size is $18 for 4.2 grams of product on the Sephora web site.

January Empties | 2018

Hey everyone! We have reached the end of the first month of 2018! Let's take a closer look at all of the empties that I went through in January!

Face
Aveda Tourmaline Charged Hydrating Creme (15 ml) - I purchased this at the Estee Lauder Warehouse Sale and it is not available on the Aveda site. This was just mediocre in my opinion and I used it in the morning to mix with my sunscreen before applying makeup. I’m not sad that this has been replaced or discontinued (not sure,) and it certainly isn’t a holy grail product for me.

Jeju Volcanic Ash Nose Strips (7 count) - I purchased these online from The Face Shop and I do have an entire dedicated post on them. These are my personal favourite and I like them more than the Aloe Nose Strips but those work just as well. I purchased them in bulk and I do look forward to using these each week!

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser (50 ml) - I enjoyed using this in the morning to start my day and it worked well at night to help remove my makeup. I received this in the Skincare Power Players Set from Sephora and it’s an all around great product! The smaller sized tube did last me quite awhile and it’s great to take traveling! It’s a gel cleanser and can be used on any skin type including those with sensitive skin. It is rich in amino acids, it did not dry out my skin and it is rather gentle. It also contains: rosewater, cucumber extract and borage seed oil. I do have an entire review on this product.

Sheet Masks
Nature Republic Real Nature Mask Sheet (Shea Butter) This has to be one of the worst sheet masks that I have ever used. The mask is too big for my face, the essence looks like shea butter lotion, it is too saturated and it burned my skin underneath my lip causing irritation. I almost couldn’t leave it on for the full 20 minutes and I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. I do have a whole blog post on which shea butter was the mask out of the 3 that I tried so feel free to check that out!

Sephora Algae Sheet Mask (22 g/0.78 oz) - This is a nice way to treat your skin and add back in some much needed moisture. One single sheet mask will run you $8 but I have to say that this is one of the best fitting sheet masks that I have ever put on. If you need to quickly chase a toddler around the room, the mask will not slide off. It left a cooling sensation on my skin and felt wonderful when it was applied onto my skin! I would recommend trying this out to you in the future and I may have to pick up a few more to add to my collection to go along with my other Korean sheet masks! Don't forget to check out my detailed review on this sheet mask!

Tony Moly I’m Real Aloe Sheet Mask (21 g) - I washed, exfoliated then toned my face before applying this sheet mask. It was very cooling, I loved the scent of the mask, it fit my face well and this really moisturizes the skin. I really enjoyed using it and it will be added to the list of my favourite sheet masks!

Bath & Body Works
Warm Vanilla Sugar Gentle Foaming Hand Soap (259 ml) - This was one of the very first scents that many people fell in love with at Bath & Body Works. I have been using this scent on and off for many years in many different forms. I like the new packaging and won’t be getting tired of this scent any time soon!

Pumpkin Cranberry Cider Gentle Foaming Hand Soap (259 ml) - This is the great Fall scent as it is a perfect blend of ingredients and the packing is cute to display in your bathroom! I didn’t get sick of the scent even after I used up the entire bottle which is a sign that I would repurchase this scent in a heartbeat!

Mahogany Teakwood Car Fragrance Refill (6 ml) - This is the perfect masculine, musky Fall scent. The notes include: fine woods, delicate lavender and geranium. I have purchased this scent in the past and will continue to do so in the future!

Samples/Promo - Hair
Got2B Oil-Licious Styling Oil (18 ml) - I got this for free as a sample a while ago and I’m disappointed that I didn’t try it out sooner! It contains: argan, white grape/raisin blanc and marula oil. I use it when I get out of the shower and also on a daily basis. It made my hair smoother and helped to reduce some of my frizz. I enjoyed using it but it has since been discontinued.

Food
Ülker Çokoprens (73 g) - My friend brought me these back from Turkey and they are delicious! I ate 3-4 in one sitting and the chocolate centre makes it that much more decadent! I loved these!
