January Empties | 2021

Hey everyone! This is my first empties post of 2021! Let's go through my trash together!
Face

The Body Shop Elderflower Unperfumed Eye Gel (15 ml) - This had a cooling effect to it and it was a gel consistency. It was nice to use at night and it absorbed quickly into the skin. It’s fragrance free. This isn’t my favourite product however and I wouldn’t repurchase. It isn’t bad but I prefer a cream formula.

Victoria Secret Pink Wakey Eyes Pink Hydrogel Eye Mask - I can’t seem to find this on their website anymore but this was a nice hydrogel eye mask to use. It didn’t slip around on my face and it was a nice pink colour. I left mine on for 15 minutes and then tapped in the excess serum.

Bath & Body Works

Scentportable in Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin (6 ml) - I found this in my back-stock and I wanted to put it to use while we are still in the colder months. This has been a repurchase for years and it’s a great scent overall.

Body Cream in Warm Coconut Blossom (226 g/8 oz) - This is a discontinued scent and this is an Ultra Shea Body Cream. The notes include: Island Orchid, Coconut Water and Sandalwood Musk. It claims to provide 24 hours of nourishing moisture. It is infused with ultra-rich, moisturizing Shea Butter and is enriched with both Aloe Butter as well as Cocoa Butter. It is non-greasy and it really did a great job at hydrating my skin!

Hair

Nioxin Cleanser Shampoo System 1 (1 L) - I got this because in the past, I’ve purchased this directly from my Dermatologist to help with psoriasis in my scalp. The formula is blue and it has a minty scent to it. I wouldn’t say that it helps the problem but it helps to remove the build-up from my scalp and it is soothing. This bottle lasted me a very long time.

Vitamins/Supplements

Nature’s Bounty Ultra Strength B-12 5000 mcg (45 tablets) - This is my second bottle of this exact dosage and it’s really been working for me. I do feel like I have more energy throughout the day and it’s easy to take these. I purchase mine from Amazon.

Samples/Promo - Face

LANEIGE Bright Renew Capsule Sleeping Mask (3 ml x 3) - This is a one time use sleeping mask from LANEIGE. It claims to be hydrating and brightening. I found there to be a strong scent and that there was a lot of product. I used one capsule over the course of a few days. The packaging reminds me of how contact lenses come packaged! I believe that this is discontinued.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Melt-in Cream SPF 50 (15 ml) - I got this as a free sample at an event and I really liked this product! If you apply too much, there is a white residue but if you apply just the right amount, it melts into the skin. I appreciate that this has an SPF of 50 as my Dermatologist said I should use at least that on my face. This helps with those strong UV rays and I apply sunscreen on my face year round! This only pills if you use too much of it or with too many other products on your skin.

Nature Republic Real Nature Mask Sheet in Royal Jelly (23 ml) - It claims that Royal Jelly extracts provide nourishment and improve skin texture. After washing my face and applying an essence, I applied the mask, leaving it on for 20 minutes. My skin felt soft and I have to say that there was quite a bit of essence. Overall, I did enjoy using it.

Body

Dove Body Wash in Mango Butter & Almond Butter (53 ml) - I got this sent to me as a free sample to try out. I honestly loved the scent and the consistency. It made my skin so soft and smooth. It smelled like a mango smoothie to me and I felt like I was transported to a tropical island! This is a product that I would absolutely purchase the larger size of after I go through my current back-ups.

Giorgio Armani My Way Eau De Parfum (1.2 ml) - This floral fragrance claims to be a blend of consciously sourced ingredients from around the world. The Orange Blossom is from Egypt, the Tuberose & Jasmine are from India and the Vanilla is from Madagascar. This is not a perfume that I would have chose out on my own but it works with my body chemistry. Not sure if I would purchase a bigger size of this.

Body

Shea Moisture 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Shea Butter Soap (227 g) - This is made with Coconut Milk and Acacia Senegal. It claims to help soften and restore the skin. There are exfoliating beads in the soap and I found there to be a subtle, pleasant scent. This is a big bar of soap that should last me quite some time! I got this from a friend.

Sol De Janeiro Coco Cabana Cream (25 ml) - This was part of my birthday gift from Sephora last year and although this one was nice, I much prefer the original scent. This delivers hydration for your skin that makes it feel soft. This is an oil-in-water cream.

January Empties | 2019

Hey everyone! Welcome to my first Empties post of 2019! Let's check out all the items that I used up during the first month of the new year!

Face
Bioré Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips (8 count) - This claims to draw out excess oil with natural charcoal and that it is great for oily skin which I do have. They can be quite messy and you really need to get off the black residue left on your nose once you peel off the strip. I honestly feel like the white strips from Bioré are more effective and work the best for me. I purchased mine on sale at Walmart for $7.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Multivitamin Booster (30 ml) - I’m a big fan of the Hydro Boost line in general and it claims to intensely hydrate and energizes the look of skin which I do agree with. It contains hyaluronic acid which is one of my favourite ingredients and I really like the design of the bottle! It comes with a pump and it looks great on my vanity. This is an affordable product that you can purchase at Walmart and I got this in my Chick Advisor Showcase At Home Kit.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Cucumber and Green Tea (118 ml) - I have tried 3/4 of their facial sprays as the Orange Blossom Facial Spray is only available at Ulta and I have yet to try it. This is my second favourite one and the Rosewater Facial Spray is definitely my favourite! You can now find these sprays at Sephora Canada and also at Urban Outfitters in Canada which is exciting!

Sheet Masks
Bubble & Chill Charcoal Bubbling Sheet Mask (20 g/0.7 oz) - This is my first time trying out a sheet mask from Victoria Secret PINK. I picked this up before their Semi-Annual Sale where they were having 40% off the entire store. I wanted to try this because I had never tried a bubbling/foaming sheet mask and had heard interesting things about it. The mask is charcoal and it fits comfortably on the skin without being too large. About 1 minute in while wearing the mask, I noticed that I can actually hear the bubbles crackling! When I got up and walked over to the mirror, the bubbles were developing faster on the sheet mask. I did have a decent amount of bubbles all throughout the sheet mask but after I took it off and tried to massage the product in like the directions said to, it was like I was rubbing soap mixed with water all over my face. I quickly grabbed a tissue, wiped it off my face and the result left my skin feeling sticky. I do feel that this is slightly gimmicky and it was fun to use once but I wouldn’t repurchase it but I do have to mention that my skin did look more radiant. Also, follow the directions and don’t wear this for more than 10 minutes and I definitely wouldn’t recommend this for sensitive skin types. This sheet mask is made in Korea and normally retails for $4.95 CAD.

Lavender Hydrogel Mask (28 g) - I am a huge fan of lavender and I also do tend to like hydrogel masks so I was inclined to pick this up from PINK when they were having 40% off the entire store. The mask comes in two pieces and it is cooling on the skin. It also says that it has bits of real lavender and claim to give you a ‘dewy glow.’ This was easy to apply and didn’t slide around like other hydrogel masks that I’ve tried in the past which is a pro! It was cooling and it smelled like real lavender! Lavender is meant to be soothing and calming which this sheet mask definitely was! My skin absorbed almost all of the product after wearing it for 20 minutes, except where it overlapped underneath my nose area as the mask did come in 2 parts. This may just be one of my all-time favourite masks that I’ve ever used and you only need to leave it on for 10-20 minutes! This mask also retails for $4.95 and is made in Korea. I can't find a working link.

Silver Belle Foil Sheet Mask (26 g) - Yes, this sheet mask is silver and yes, I did feel like the tin man from Wizard of Oz while wearing it. It contains nourishing vitamin B3 and the foil claims to lock in skin-boosting ingredients. I didn’t really care too much for this mask as the scent reminded me of soap and water. The mask itself didn’t do much for my skin and I feel like this is more of a gimmick. However, there was a lot of essence in the packaging leftover for another application. Can't find a working link.

Espresso Yourself Energizing Sheet Mask (28 g) - This mask is made with coffee extract and no, it does not smell like coffee. The packaging honestly made me purchase it and this is definitely a messy sheet mask that is drenched in essence! I left mine on for 15 minutes like the directions suggested to and it worked well! However, I went online and for whatever reason, this sheet mask is no longer listed on the PINK website so I don’t know if it is being discontinued or not.

May Island Potato Sheet Mask (25 ml) - This specific sheet mask claims to help with elasticity and adds in moisture to the skin. It says to leave the mask on for 20-30 minutes. There is a scent that reminds me of my childhood that I can’t quite pinpoint. It doesn’t smell great but the sheet mask was refreshing on my face. It is made in Korea and I honestly just purchased it because I thought it was rather odd as well as unique that potato was a main ingredient.

Teeth
Crest 3D Whitestrips in Classic Vivid (20 strips) - These are a great affordable option that I picked up at Walmart. They claim to be enamel sage and that it can remove up to 5 years of tough stains. I drink coffee every single day so I have to use white strips to maintain my pearly whites. You only have to leave these on for 30 minutes and I always take some form of whitening product with me when I am traveling.

Hair
Garnier Fructis Wondermask + Coconut Oil (15 ml x 2) - I purchased this on clearance when I was in a Target in Michigan and I believe that I paid $1.24 for it. This lasted me a few washes and it’s an in-shower treatment mask. After you shampoo your hair, you leave in step one and then you follow with step 2 in order to seal it in. You leave it for 3 minutes and then wash it out. Yes, it’s two extra steps to do in the shower but my hair felt so soft and I really enjoyed using it! I would repurchase this again and I believe that it comes in other scents. This has been discontinued.

Eva NYC Clean It Up Shampoo (1 L/33.8 fl oz) - I purchased the large size that comes with a pump from Marshalls on clearance for $11 CAD. That is such a good deal as it has lasted me such a long time and I actually never got sick of using the shampoo which is a rarity for me! The formula contains: keravis protein and organ oil. It claims to gently cleans, restores and nourishes all hair types. They do not test on animals and I also really enjoy using their hair mask which I own!

Bath & Body Works
’Tis The Season Scentportable (6 ml) - This is the second one that I have used up. I purchased a few of these last year during the Bath & Body Works Semi-Annual Sale for just a few scents. This is great to use during the colder months especially around Christmas!

Body
Secret Invisible Solid Antiperspirant in Paris Rose (45 g) - I purchased mine from Walmart and I wouldn’t say that it is invisible as I still noticed white marks on my clothes. This did the job and it smelled great. I would only repurchase if I was in a pinch.

Promo/Samples - Face
Drunk Elephant Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser (1.5 ml) - This was just a basic, average cleanser in my opinion. It did the job and my skin felt clean, without feeling stripped afterwards. For 150 ml of product, the tube will run you $42 so it is more on the expensive side.

Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream (1.5 ml) - I found this cream to be very moisturizing, non-sticky and it absorbed into the skin quickly. I applied it at night to really hydrate my skin. The first ingredient is water and it is made in the USA. The full size is $84 for 50 ml which is a bit steep but it is a great moisturizer.
Update: It's now $89 instead of $84 on the Sephora website.

Clinique Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate (7 ml) - I received this as a free sample from Sephora and Clinique products are very hit or miss for me in general. This one was just okay and I used it in the morning alongside my sunscreen. This claims to be for all skin types and that it quenches dehydrated skin for 24 hours. I live in Canada where it’s very cold and I felt that it didn’t do the job. Also when I would mix it in with my sunscreen, sometimes it would tend to ball up on my face which is one of my biggest pet peeves. It’s safe to say that I wasn’t the biggest fan.

Perricone MD Cosmeceuticals Cold Plasma (2 ml) - This was a free sample that I received from Sephora and the scent reminded me of fish oil pills. Random, but true as it was not the most pleasant. Your skincare is not meant to smell good and a lot of added fragrance can actually dry out your skin but I digress. This is recommended to be used after you cleanse your skin in both the morning as well as the evening, but I only used it at night. It was a pretty good product and my skin did look better but then again, I’ve been trying out a lot of different skincare products lately and I would have to use it for a longer period of time to really notice significant results.

Sothys Purifying Foaming Gel This product is meant for combination to oily skin types which I definitely have and was a sample given to me by my facialist. It smells great and has iris extract in the formula. I noticed that it was more of a gel rather than a foaming gel. I tried removing my makeup with it after I went in with a cleansing balm and it worked well! I enjoyed using it but I’m not completely sold on it just yet. The first ingredient is water and this product is made in France.

Sothys Hydra-Protective Softening Emulsion This is targeted for those with normal to combination skin. This is another sample given to me by my facialist. It smells great, it is a thicker cream and it helped to moisturize my skin.

Lips
Bite Beauty Agave Sugar Lip Scrub (0.50 g) - I got this from Sephora as part of the free 2018 Birthday Gift. The full size goes for $29 (20 grams,) which is expensive and much more than a sugar lip scrub at LUSH (25 grams). It was a good lip scrub and they use raw brown sugar as well as papaya enzymes in their formula.

Bite Agave Lip Balm (0.50 g) - I did enjoy using this lip balm as I felt that it moisturized my lips well and it goes on clear. They use both agave and rare Madagascan vanilla in their formula. The full size is $18 for 4.2 grams of product on the Sephora web site.

January Empties | 2018

Hey everyone! We have reached the end of the first month of 2018! Let's take a closer look at all of the empties that I went through in January!

Face
Aveda Tourmaline Charged Hydrating Creme (15 ml) - I purchased this at the Estee Lauder Warehouse Sale and it is not available on the Aveda site. This was just mediocre in my opinion and I used it in the morning to mix with my sunscreen before applying makeup. I’m not sad that this has been replaced or discontinued (not sure,) and it certainly isn’t a holy grail product for me.

Jeju Volcanic Ash Nose Strips (7 count) - I purchased these online from The Face Shop and I do have an entire dedicated post on them. These are my personal favourite and I like them more than the Aloe Nose Strips but those work just as well. I purchased them in bulk and I do look forward to using these each week!

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser (50 ml) - I enjoyed using this in the morning to start my day and it worked well at night to help remove my makeup. I received this in the Skincare Power Players Set from Sephora and it’s an all around great product! The smaller sized tube did last me quite awhile and it’s great to take traveling! It’s a gel cleanser and can be used on any skin type including those with sensitive skin. It is rich in amino acids, it did not dry out my skin and it is rather gentle. It also contains: rosewater, cucumber extract and borage seed oil. I do have an entire review on this product.

Sheet Masks
Nature Republic Real Nature Mask Sheet (Shea Butter) This has to be one of the worst sheet masks that I have ever used. The mask is too big for my face, the essence looks like shea butter lotion, it is too saturated and it burned my skin underneath my lip causing irritation. I almost couldn’t leave it on for the full 20 minutes and I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. I do have a whole blog post on which shea butter was the mask out of the 3 that I tried so feel free to check that out!

Sephora Algae Sheet Mask (22 g/0.78 oz) - This is a nice way to treat your skin and add back in some much needed moisture. One single sheet mask will run you $8 but I have to say that this is one of the best fitting sheet masks that I have ever put on. If you need to quickly chase a toddler around the room, the mask will not slide off. It left a cooling sensation on my skin and felt wonderful when it was applied onto my skin! I would recommend trying this out to you in the future and I may have to pick up a few more to add to my collection to go along with my other Korean sheet masks! Don't forget to check out my detailed review on this sheet mask!

Tony Moly I’m Real Aloe Sheet Mask (21 g) - I washed, exfoliated then toned my face before applying this sheet mask. It was very cooling, I loved the scent of the mask, it fit my face well and this really moisturizes the skin. I really enjoyed using it and it will be added to the list of my favourite sheet masks!

Bath & Body Works
Warm Vanilla Sugar Gentle Foaming Hand Soap (259 ml) - This was one of the very first scents that many people fell in love with at Bath & Body Works. I have been using this scent on and off for many years in many different forms. I like the new packaging and won’t be getting tired of this scent any time soon!

Pumpkin Cranberry Cider Gentle Foaming Hand Soap (259 ml) - This is the great Fall scent as it is a perfect blend of ingredients and the packing is cute to display in your bathroom! I didn’t get sick of the scent even after I used up the entire bottle which is a sign that I would repurchase this scent in a heartbeat!

Mahogany Teakwood Car Fragrance Refill (6 ml) - This is the perfect masculine, musky Fall scent. The notes include: fine woods, delicate lavender and geranium. I have purchased this scent in the past and will continue to do so in the future!

Samples/Promo - Hair
Got2B Oil-Licious Styling Oil (18 ml) - I got this for free as a sample a while ago and I’m disappointed that I didn’t try it out sooner! It contains: argan, white grape/raisin blanc and marula oil. I use it when I get out of the shower and also on a daily basis. It made my hair smoother and helped to reduce some of my frizz. I enjoyed using it but it has since been discontinued.

Food
Ülker Çokoprens (73 g) - My friend brought me these back from Turkey and they are delicious! I ate 3-4 in one sitting and the chocolate centre makes it that much more decadent! I loved these!

Until next time,

December Empties | 2020

Hey everyone! This is my last Empties post of 2020 and I wanted to share all the items I used up!

Face

La Mer The Treatment Lotion Hydrating Mask (1 mask) - I picked this up from Sephora a few months ago and finally got around to trying it. This is the most expensive single use sheet mask that I’ve ever purchased. For one mask, it retails for $40. It did truly hydrate my skin and my face was glowing after using it. There is a lot of essence left in the packet and I plan on using it over the next few days! It’s a great mask that I would only consider using before a special occasion and I won’t be purchasing this regularly.

Bioré Charcoal Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips (8 count) - I know that these aren’t the greatest for your skin but I still enjoy using them. I also got my brother to use them and I typically use it once a week. I like seeing what it pulls out of my skin!

Body

Yves Rocher Magical Shea Body Scrub (30 ml) - I purchased this on their website as part of a travel trio. This scrub was just alright and I found that I had to use a lot of product in the shower. I prefer my scrubs to be more gritty and this was almost like a cream consistency. The scent was just alright but it isn’t a bad product.

Bath & Body Works

Scentportable in Pumpkin Cupcake (6 ml) - This is such a great fragrance for the colder months and I always get compliments when people come into my car.

Hair

Sephora Jojoba Protecting Oil (100 ml) - This is a multi-purpose oil that you can use on your face, body and hair. I bought this maybe 2.5 years ago right when I seen it available online. You are getting 100 ml which is a lot of product for an oil. It made my hair so silky smooth and soft. I really liked the packaging and it took me awhile to use up while using it on my hair every single day. I think they have discontinued this product sadly but I would definitely repurchase if it was still available.

Samples - Face

LANEIGE Firming Sleeping Mask (2x 5 ml) - This has a different smell than the Water Sleeping Mask as this one is more fragranced. It is also thicker in consistency. This claims to help strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier and it also hydrates the skin.

LANEIGE Water Bank Moisture Cream (2 ml) - I have used this in the past and I really am a fan of this cream. It feels great on the skin and it is very hydrating. It says that it is infused with Hydro Ionized Mineral Water & Biogen Technology. I would definitely purchase a larger size of this.

LANEIGE Bright Renew Capsule Sleeping Mask (3 ml) - These are a one time use sleeping mask from LANEIGE. It claims to be hydrating and brightening. I would agree with that claim but I found there to be a strong scent. I found that there was a lot of product and I used one capsule over the course of a few days. I did bring this when I traveled a few times. The packaging reminds me of how contact lenses come packaged! You open it the same way but I found it to be wasteful. I do prefer the Water Sleeping Mask more.

Vichy Minéral 89 Eye Fortifier (1 ml) - I originally didn’t know what to expect from this product as it is a gel and I’m used to using eye creams. I will say that I was pleasantly surprised and it felt really nice on the skin. Almost cooling and this packet lasted me several uses. This came as part of my free set that I won from a Vichy Giveaway online.

Derma-E Vitamin C Gentle Daily Cleansing Paste (3.5 g) - The packaging said that you can use this as a mask or as a cleanser and I used it as a cleanser. I think a mask would be better because it had a soap smell on my face that wasn’t very pleasant but it did make my skin soft and brighter. There is Vitamin C, Citrus Fruit Peel Puree and Glycolic Acid in the formula. I’d have to try it out for a longer period of time and use it as a face mask to give a better opinion.

Body

Yves Rocher Sel D’Azur (0.7 ml) - I got this for free as a sample in the last online order that I placed with Yves Rocher. Personally, I’m not a fan of this fragrance. There’s notes of cedar and citrus that I can smell. The citrus is the first thing that I could smell. I would say if you’re into this scent, this would be perfect for the summer time.

Sol De Janeiro Bum Bum Body Scrub (0.7 oz/20 g) - I got this sugar scrub as a free deluxe sample with my last Sephora order. It smells incredible like you’re on an island and it removes the dead skin from my body. My skin was so smooth after using it and I definitely would pick up a larger size!

My Burberry Black Parfum (2 ml) - I got this as a free sample at an event and I really do like the scent as it is described as warm florals. The key notes include: sun-drenched jasmine flower, candied rose and amber patchouli. This scent is right up my alley but it did not last all day and I found that I had to re-apply throughout the day. I’d say that the lasting power is 6-8 hours at most.

Teeth

Colgate Enamel Health Replenish & Polish Toothpaste (18 ml) - I decided to start using all my travel sized toothpastes and items in general because since not many people are travelling, these items are just sitting in my collection getting no attention. Overall, this is a pretty standard toothpaste that did the job and it worked fine.

December Empties | 2019

Hey everyone! I can't believe that it's the last month of 2019! We are headed into a new decade which is both scary and exciting! Here's my last empties post of 2019!

Face
LANEIGE Water Bank Eye Gel (25 ml) - I really liked the consistency of this eye gel and it absorbed quickly into the skin. I used it at night and you get such a good amount of product inside the jar as many eye creams only have 15 ml in the container. It didn’t weigh down my eye area and I really enjoyed using it! I would definitely repurchase this as it retails for $48 on Sephora’s website. I had the old packaging.
Update: It now retails for $51 on the Sephora website.

Tatcha Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder (10 g) - This powder is activated by water which helps to exfoliate the skin and made my skin super soft. It did not break me out and it was gentle on my skin. I was taking it in the shower with me but I found water to get inside the jar and cause it to clump up to a point where the opening was completely blocked. I used a toothpick to unclog to opening and used it at my sink instead. I also felt like it brightened my skin and it is an all around good product.

Bioré Limited Edition Deep Cleansing Pore Strips (8 count) - I just purchased these from Walmart as they were on sale and the only pore strips from Bioré that they had in-stock. This is the limited edition collaboration with Madelaine Petsch. The pore strips had fun designs on them and performed just as well as the plain white ones.

Bath & Body Works
Gentle Foaming Hand Soap in Pumpkin Cupcake (259 ml) - This is a great scent for the colder months and I have used it in the past. The notes include: baked pumpkin, whipped vanilla frosting and golden honey.

Gentle Foaming Hand Soap in Cinnamon Pine Cone (259 ml) - This was a really nice scent to use and the notes were right up my alley. They include: a spiced, woodsy blend of fresh pine, cinnamon bark and juniper.

Car Fragrance Refill in Leaves (6 ml) - I have several back-ups of these that I purchased a few months ago on sale. I really like using it in both Fall as well as Winter.

Body/Hands
Korres Hand Cream in Water Lily Blossom (75 ml) - I am pretty sure that this is discontinued as I can’t seem to find it anywhere online. I kept this in my purse and it is a nice light hand cream to use. The scent is described as a fresh, delicate scent of water flowers. There is almond oil and aloe in the formula.

Aveda Hand Relief Moisturizing Creme (150 ml) - I honestly really loved how thick this hand cream was and it helped my psoriasis a lot. The first ingredient is water and I purchased this for $10 at the Estee Lauder Warehouse Sale.

Mistral Luxury Bar Soap in Lychee Rose (7 oz/200 g) - This is probably one of my favourite scents of a bar soap. This is a pure vegetable soap that is made in France. The scent is described as an exotic lychee and black currant based in amber and cedarwood. That is right up my alley and I have actually been through a few of these!

Beverages
Trader Joe’s Organic Ginger Tumeric Herbal Tea (20 tea bags) - This has been recommended to me in the past and I finally wanted to try this out. I really enjoyed it and had a cup of tea at night when I was feeling under the weather which seemed to help over time. It is caffeine free and I would re-purchase it again in the future. It retails for about $2.50 USD.

Promo/Samples - Fragrance
MAC Lady Danger (1.5 ml) - I’m pretty sure that this scent has been discontinued as I can’t seem to find it anywhere online and on the MAC website, it shows the name of the scent but it’s not clickable. Anyway, it is more of a warm, leathery and spicy scent which is right up my alley. I believe there is amber and patchouli in the formula which is my preference when it comes to perfumes. I really like this scent but it is definitely not for everyone.

Vitamins/Supplements
Well Told Health Energy Vegan Capsules I also mentioned this in my November Empties | 2019 and I received them for free at an event. These were just alright and I found that other products on the market work better than these. They are on the more expensive side and different bottles promote different things such as: sleep, vitamin D, stress fighter and anti-inflammatory. I went through a lot of these packets but just took a photo with one empty package.

Quick Strip Fast Acting Vitamin B12 (5 strips) - These are meant to be dissolved under the tongue and they were just alright. I much prefer taking pills in the form of B12 but I received these for free so I really can’t complain. I would also take a small sip of water to help dissolve the strip faster if I was in a rush that day. I used up more of these but just included one package in my photo.

Webber Naturals Ahhh…Sleep Super Sleep Natural Herbal Blend with Melatonin (30 caplets) -I received this for free a while ago for testing purposes but when I went to the counter to redeem my voucher, I still had to pay the taxes which was annoying. I would take 2 capsules each night and it usually took around 30-60 minutes until I began feeling sleepy. The capsules are small which makes it easy to swallow. There is melatonin in here which some people have strong thoughts on and definitely consult with your doctor before using this product. I would have to say that these are on the pricier side of sleep aids and I am on the fence about trying these out again.

Miscellaneous
La Roche-Posay My UV Patch - This is another product that I received for free at an event. The whole point is to download the My UV Patch App on your phone and track how much sun exposure you are getting each day. You need to complete a profile and you apply the UV Patch onto an area that sees a fair bit amount of sun exposure. You should apply sunscreen onto the designated area like you normally would and scan it with the app every so often. It tells you if you need to be applying more sunscreen or if you are doing a good job. You honestly have to make sure the patch is in direct sunlight or else it will have a hard time scanning usually resulting in not being able to scan at all. It doesn’t makes sense if you are trying to get your last scan in at night because it won’t end up working. I ended up deleting in on the second day as my patch started to peel off my hand and I couldn’t scan my patch due to the aforementioned reasons. I applied mine on my hand and I feel like this is a bit of a gimmick. Also, when you put it on your hand and had your nose close to it, it smelled really unpleasant but when your hand was not near your face, you couldn’t smell it.

Until next time,

December Empties | 2018

Hey everyone! Wishing everyone a happy, healthy 2019!

Face
Bioré Deep Cleansing Pore Strips with Citrus Crush Scent in Pink Lemonade (8 count) - I really like these and I hope that they consider making these permanent! The print is fun and the strips are enjoyable to use! As a plus, they even smell like citrus!

Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist Mini (12 ml) - I honestly just purchased to see what the hype is about because I feel as though everyone on YouTube talks about this spray. I didn’t particularly care for it and the mist is very fine. I used it after my skincare routine as the last step and wouldn’t use it to set my makeup as I have very oily skin. It is an expensive product as I ran through this very quickly as it is only 12 ml, and the mini was $24 which is certainly up there in price. I wouldn’t repurchase it but the packaging is beautiful and I much prefer using other Tatcha products.
Update: The mini now retails for $26.

Face Masks
Disney Green Tea Face Mask (18 ml) - I did enjoy using this one and it is cooling on the skin. It claims to soothe and hydrate the face. It was an essence, most of it absorbed into my skin and I left it on for 25 minutes. The packaging is obviously very cute and it’s my favourite one that I have tried so far! I purchased it at Target for $1.50 on clearance and it is made in Korea.

Disney Charcoal Face Mask (18 ml) - The mask itself is black and the essence is clear. It claims to help remove toxins from the skin and that it minimizes pores. The chin part was strange because it appeared to be split in half when I took it out of the packaging. It was definitely a strange design! It felt nice on the skin but it isn’t amongst my favourites and I can’t seem to find it online anymore.

Sephora Pineapple Nose Mask (1 bio-cellulose mask) - It smells great but it can be rather messy. There are also 2 different films that you need to peel off. Peeling off the first one is a breeze but for the second one, the mask was already on my nose and I had to use my nail to get it separated from the actual mask. Don’t try touching the actual mask itself because it will move around so I ended up peeling off the second film completely and putting that over the actual mask to move it in place. This is more trouble that it is worth in my opinion and I wouldn’t recommend it. I would much prefer to use nose strips rather than this nose mask as I did not see any results. It is supposed to tighten and minimize pores. The item only comes in sets.

Vitamins/Supplements
Emergen-C Energy + Flavoured Fizzy Drink Mix in Mango Peach (18 packets) - I originally purchased mine from Wal Mart before I left on vacation as I was going to be in different time zones. They had a 2 for $20 deal which is incredible! This one is definitely fizzy and I found that there wasn’t too much caffeine but did make me more alert which is what I wanted. This flavour wasn’t my favourite as it left a weird after taste so I want to try out another flavour but I did really like the product!

Bath & Body Works
Car Fragrance Refill in ’Tis The Season (6 ml) - This is a great classic, seasonal scent from Bath & Body Works. I purchased two a while back and it does remind me of the smell of cloves. The notes include: red delicious apple, sweet cinnamon bark and cedarwood.

Aromatherapy Sleep Gentle Foaming Hand Soap in Lavender Cedarwood (259 ml) - This hand soap is made with natural essential oils and it smells great! The lavender oil helps you to feel more tranquil and the cedar wood oil helps clam your mind.

Promo/Samples - Face
Amore Pacific The Essential Creme Fluid (1 ml) - I have liked everything that I have tried from this brand and this is no exception! I originally thought that this was an essence but it’s a moisturizer. It smells great and the consistency is very thin so it can run right through the cracks between your fingers if you aren’t careful! It felt great on the skin and absorbed quickly. The full size retails for $125 for 90 ml of product and it is made in Korea.
Update: It now retails for $129 at Sephora.

Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief (1.5 ml) - I found that this product absorbed into my skin quickly but Clinique skincare has always been hit and miss for me. It had a lightweight texture that was similar to a gel-cream consistency. I recently learned that this particular item has been discontinued but there are other product available within the moisture surge line.

Caudalie Vine[activ] Energizing and Smoothing Eye Cream (1 ml) - This sample gave me so many uses! The product is a little bit thicker which I prefer and I used it both night as well as morning. It is a French company and there are no parabens, phthalates or sulfates. I really enjoyed using this sample!

First Aid Beauty Hello Fab Coconut Water Cream (9.6 g/0.34 oz) - This is a lightweight product that absorbs quickly into the skin. It claims to help hydrate, smooth and recharge the skin. It also says that it is safe for sensitive skin. I used this in the morning with my sunscreen and makeup layered well over it. It is made in the USA and I really enjoyed using my sample from Sephora!

Aveeno Absolutely Ageless Restorative Night Cream (14 ml) - I actually really enjoyed using night cream and can see why it’s rated so highly! There is blackberry complex and active naturals inside the formula. It is hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic and non-greasy. It smells great and I would purchase the full sized version!

Eyes
Stila Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Kitten, Grace & Twig (.09 ml x 3) - I received this as a free sample from Sephora and I can finally see what all the hype is about! I applied these onto my lids with a authentic brush and then set some translucent powder over it. It looks great and was an easy eye look to wear to work! The lasting powder on them was pretty good too as I have oily eyelids and it didn’t just fade into nothing like other products tend to do on my eyes.
