Garnier Skin Active The Super Purifying Charcoal Sheet Mask | Review

Hey everyone! The Garnier Super Purifying Charcoal Sheet Mask caught my eye the last time that I was in Walmart and I noticed that it was a new product so I had to try it out!

Claims & Benefits
This claims to minimize the look of pores and it purifies as well as refreshes the skin. Some key ingredients include: charcoal, algae extract and hyaluronic acid. It will help draw out any impurities from the skin and will make your skin feel deeply cleansed. Your face will look fresher and you will have a healthy, radiant glow. After just one use, it will also even your complexion, your skin will look smoother and refreshed. It helps to unclog your pores, your skin can breathe easier and your face will feel purified. After just 1 week, your pores will look tighter and less visible. Your skin will appear to look healthier, less shiny and more refined. This is a black sheet mask and you leave it on your face for 15 minutes. It is non-greasy, free of parabens and mineral oils. These are definitely some serious claims and there are a lot of them! I personally have oily skin so this particular sheet mask drew me right in. The first ingredient is water and I want to point out that the sheet mask does contain charcoal powder.

Where To Buy, Price & Types
I purchased mine at Walmart for $2.95 as it was on rollback and I'm sure you can find this at your local drugstore. It contains 1 sheet mask and the weight is 28 ml. Garnier is known for their Moisture Bomb Sheet Masks that come in many different scents.

Would I Repurchase?
If you're wondering, the actual sheet mask itself is made out of cotton and the essence is clear. It really felt like it absorbed a lot of the product and it had a pleasant scent to it. The eyes were cut out and it fit comfortably on my face. My face felt softer after using it just once and the mask itself is very affordable. I would repurchase it again in a heartbeat and also try out some others from Garnier while I'm at it!

Garnier Whole Blends Avocado Oil & Shea Butter Extracts Nourishing Shampoo & Conditioner | Review

Hey everyone! I have used many different shampoo and conditioner duos throughout the years but, I think that I have found my favourite pairing! The Garnier Whole Blends line is incredible and this has been a game changer for myself personally!

Claims & Ingredients
Each product targets a different hair problem and the Avocado Oil is from South Africa and the Shea Butter Extracts are West African which helps to nourish as well as replenish the hair. It claims to be a creamy, moisturizing formula that has a comforting fragrance which rejuvenates dried-out hair. With each wash, these products will restore suppleness and shine. It is paraben free and made with natural extracts. The formula is definitely creamy and helps bring the shine back into my dry, winter hair. I do agree with the claims and enjoy the ingredients inside the formula!

Where To Buy, Price & Size
I purchased mine at Shoppers Drug Mart when they had a promotion for about 3 hours where you purchase any shampoo or conditioner and receive a second bottle free. I couldn't pass that up and went into the store not knowing what to buy until I stumbled across this duo. It was certainly a lucky find and you can also find it at Walmart or any other drugstores or even at grocery stores! Walmart currently had them on Rollback for $3.96 when I last checked. You are getting 370 ml in both the shampoo as well as the conditioner. It also comes in the 650 ml version if you prefer purchasing a larger bottle. This line does offer a hair mask within their range and they do have many more scents to choose from!

How It Performed & Is It Worth It?
I was talking with my friend about shampoos (in general,) and she told me about another great shampoo in this same range. I told her that I was using this particular scent and was seeing great results on my hair. She has thicker hair and mine is more fine, but this line performs well on both hair types. I do think that it is worth every dime because after using it for many weeks, I find that my hair is: softer, shinier, easier to manage and I have been receiving lots of compliments on my hair. It isn't heavily scented, my hair always feels clean when I use the duo and I love that it gives a great lather which is key when I am looking for a holy grail shampoo! This is a great drugstore find that doesn't dry out my hair and I will continue to purchase it in different scents when I run out.

I always run out of the shampoo first and end up having much more conditioner left. Let me know if that also happens to you in the comments down below!

What's In My Beach Bag & Beach Tips

Hey everyone! I seen numerous people who have showed the world what is in their beach bag and myself too, have hopped on the bandwagon to show all you what I keep in mine. My beach bag is from Victoria Secret and I bought it from an outlet in Michigan.

Beach Must Haves:
A towel is a must when going to the beach to sit and lay on! It would be a good idea to bring a second towel either for a friend or for drying off because you don’t want to use the one that you have been sitting on, it’s full of sand!

I really don’t know how people can walk in sneakers on the beach. I tried it once and I did not last very long in them! A pair of flip flops is ideal for when the sand is too hot and you don’t want to go barefoot! I purchased my gold glittery flip flops as Ardene.

Hydration is extremely important when you are outside in hot weather! I bring multiple bottles with me whenever I visit the beach. TIP: Bring a cooler to keep your water and snacks cold.

A pair of sunglasses can be stylish yet very protective from the blazing sun! I bought mine from Ardene for $2 CAD. You can’t go wrong with aviators!

A lot of people forget to protect their lips while at the beach and having sunburned lips is not fun!  I use ELF Conditioning Lip Balm in Peaceful Pink which has on SPF of 15. It smells great and gives your lips a slight pink tint!

Sunscreen should be in every single person’s beach bag! I like the Hawaiian Tropic brand and it has an SPF of 30. Of course you can get something with a higher SPF, but that is what I had on hand. This is a non-greasy formula, it is oil free and is water resistant up to 80 minutes. Don’t forget to put sunscreen on your ears and on the tops of your feet!

I bring tanning oil with me because I like to get the most out of my tan! I like the Banana Boat brand because it smells incredible and I appreciate that there is a nozzle to spray the product out of because the oils with the cap you pour out of can get messy. Not to mention that you waste a lot of the product by pouring it right out of the bottle!

After you are done tanning, make sure to put on some Banana Boat Moisturizing Aloe After Sun Lotion! I have been using this for years and it contains pure aloe vera and vitamin e which both soothes your skin as well as prolongs your tan!

A hat to keep your head protected! The sun was very strong when I went to the beach and there were minimal clouds. My hat came in handy! I bought mine in Buffalo at Love Culture.

Pretzels and other snacks that are not too heavy on the stomach such as fruit and vegetables. Make sure to give yourself enough time between eating and going into the water!

A portable charger is key to bring because there are usually no outlets anywhere to plug your phone into if it is dead. This will solve your problem!

Beauty Must Haves:
The sun and the water can really dry-out your hair! That is why I bring some kind of hair oil or conditioner with me whenever I am at the pool or the beach. I am currently using the Garner Fructis Marvellous Oil which is perfect to bring along! I also bring a wide tooth comb to get all the knots out of my hair and a hair tie to put my hair up if needed.

I am that girl that will go to a beach with a full face of makeup and I have to bring makeup wipes with me in-case I need to touch up or take it all off! The packaging with the pineapples is just too cute from Rue 21.

Hand sanitizer, wet wipes or baby wipes is ideal to bring to the beach! I brought along my Honeydew Cooler Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel from Bath & Body Works.

A body mist or splash is perfect to refresh yourself throughout the day! I am using the Total Flirt Body Mist from PINK which has notes of apple blossom and freesia!

Also to freshen up, I usually bring a deodorant with me. I’ve been using the Dove Dry Spray in the scent Cool Essentials.

Entertainment:
I didn’t have any on hand, but you can always bring a few magazines to flip through or grab a great book to put in your bag! Or bring your iPad or Kindle to read them on!

I listen to music on my iPhone and I always make sure to have a pair of headphones with me whenever I go to the beach.

If your friends are athletic, bring a frisbee, volley ball, football, beach ball or soccer ball with you! Some beaches have courts you can use!

If you have a dog, bring your dog along so that you share the memories together!

Until next time,

STAY CLASSY.

June Empties | 2016

Hey everyone! Welcome to another edition of empties! As always, you can see all the products that I have used up for that month as well as my thoughts on each one!

Face
BiorĂ© Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips (8 Count) - This get the job done but they are messy and leave a back residue on my nose. I prefer the white coloured strips.

Hair
Big Sexy Hair Root Pump - This is a 'volumizing spray mousse' that I picked up a while back in Buffalo. I enjoyed using it and it doesn’t leave any greasy or white residue which I appreciate. I definitely would consider purchasing the full sized version.

Body
Shea Moisture African Black Soap with Shea Butter - I have heard a lot of talk about this brand and was excited to come across it when I was in NYC! I wanted to specifically try the African Black Soap because I have psoriasis and that is what it targets along with: eczema, acne, oily skin and other skin problems. It is messy to use in the shower because pieces of the soap that got wet tend to fall off. I purchased the largest size at Ricky’s for $6.99. I have found it to dry out my psoriasis which is one step in the right direction to clearing my psoriasis! It also mentions on the packaging that there is not any of the following: parabens, phthalates, parrafin, gluten, propylene glycol, mineral oil, synthetic fragrance, no animal testing, PABA, synthetic color, DEA, sulfates and it is cruelty free. I am interested in trying out other products from their line! Maybe not in a solid form next time.

Satin Care Ultra Sensitive Irritation Defense Shave Gel - It is free from dyes and it is fragrance free. I do not have sensitive skin but wanted to try it out anyway. I can’t speak to all the claims because like I said, I have normal skin that is not sensitive but it was gentle on the skin. I would not repurchase because it did not benefit me tremendously and I like a shave gel that has fragrance.

Hands
Bath & Body Works Gentle Foaming Hand Soap in Sweet Tangerine - It smells exactly like sweet tangerines! I enjoyed using it but it wasn’t one of my favourites and I am not about to rush out to repurchase it. I would need some time to miss this scent, then go out and repurchase.

Bath & Body Works Anti-Bacterial Deep Cleansing Hand Soap in Kitchen Lemon - This scent has been around for years and it is one of my favourites to keep around the kitchen to get a nice deep clean.

Samples
Crest Pro-Health Multi-Protection Mouth Wash - This was a basic and very standard mouth wash that didn’t stand-out in my opinion. It is alcohol free and the scent is in ‘Refreshing Clean Mint.’

Nourish A Spa Line Refreshing Mouth Wash in Mint - This is great to travel with but this was again, a basic mouth wash that didn’t really capture my attention.

Listerine Zero Antiseptic Mouth Wash in Mild Mint - I really enjoyed using this product! It was my favourite of the three and I feel like it really did kill most of the germs that cause plaque in my mouth! I want to purchase the full size version of this bottle now! The taste is nice and not overpowering at all. It does claim that it is “less intense” which I would have to agree with.

Clearly Anti-Reflective Lens Cleaner - This was a standard glasses cleaner that didn’t really wow me.

OrganiQ Spa Anti-Oxidant Body Lotion - This had a nice scent to it and was quite hydrating. It absorbed quickly into my skin which is another plus because it didn’t make me feel sticky at all. It is “infused with lemongrass extract and certified organic shea butter.”

Neutrogena All-in-One Make-up Removing Cleansing Wipes (2 packs of 7) - I had forgotten how much I enjoyed using these wipes! They really do a good job at getting everything off! They are gentle on the skin and have a slight fragrance. There are 7 in each package which is great to travel with if you are going away for a week because you get exactly enough wipes (give the fact that you aren’t sharing them!)

L’Occitane Light Comforting Cream with 5% Shea - This sample lasted me quite a long time and I used it on my face. It is a nice thick cream that gave my skin the moisture that it needed!

BiorĂ© Pore Penetrating Charcoal Bar - The bar is made with natural charcoal and it claims to “deep cleans and gently exfoliates for 2.5x cleaner pores.” I’m not sure about the last part but it does deep clean and makes my face feel squeaky clean! I am still not 100% sold on it because I do not think that it practical for me to use a bar of soap in the morning before I go to work. My preference is still a liquid, cream or gel cleanser that I can pump or squeeze out. It does work well though and I would consider purchasing if it was in a different formula.

BiorĂ© Daily Makeup Removing Towelettes (5 wipes) - I received these at an event that I was attending and was excited to try them because I have heard of them but never tried them! I really like using these wipes because they smell great, take the majority of my makeup off and I look forward to using these at night! I would definitely purchase these!

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in 200 Soft Beige (3 samples) - This was a decent foundation but not my favourite. The coverage was buildable, it did not oxidize on me and it was nice to use. It claims to have an “anti-fatigue effect and adds a radiant glow.” It didn’t see any of those results personally.

Kat Von D Lock-It Featherweight Primer Base & Lock-It Foundation in Medium 54 - I found the foundation to be too dark for my current skin tone but I made it work anyway. The coverage is nice a full, it was not cake-y and did not make me break out. The primer is nice and smooth. I found it to glide onto my skin! I enjoyed trying out both of these products from her line and do not have anything negative to say about either one.

Garnier Whole Blends Repairing Shampoo & Conditioner in Honey Treasures - This is a new product from Garnier that ‘heals and protects’ the hair. It is made with no parabens and with natural extracts. What is inside is: royal jelly, honey and propolis extract. I did enjoying using this duo but would have to try-it out more to really give a true opinion.

Garnier Whole Blends Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner in Coconut Water & Vanilla Musk - The first thing I noticed was the smell because it smells incredible! I love anything vanilla and this really caught my attention! It claims that it ‘quenches and softens’ the hair. I did feel that my hair was a little softer after one use. I am definitely interested in purchase the larger version!

Other
Johnson’s 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner - I mainly picked it up because it was a product from the line that I had never seen before and they claim that it is an improved formula. I used it to wash my makeup brushes and I appreciate that it both cleans as well as conditions them. I would repurchase!

Food
Jelly Bellies in Pancakes & Maple Syrup - They did such a good job with the flavours that it actually tastes like you are eating pancakes with maple syrup! I thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to have it again sometime soon!

Jelly Bellies in Cocktail Classics - It was fun to try flavours such as: margarita, peach bellini, pomegranate cosmo, pina colada, strawberry daiquiri and mojito. I wouldn’t care to purchase again but it was fun to try once!

Until next time,

STAY CLASSY.
