Disappointing Products | Volume 8

Hey everyone! I wanted to share 5 products that just didn't work out for me and I'll go into detail on why.

Dove 0% Aluminum Deodorant in Cucumber & Green Tea (74 g) - This was not for me as it didn't live up to the claim of 24 hour odour protection and I'm not a smelly person. The scent was nice but the amount of times I had to re-apply was crazy!

Yves Rocher Sel D'Azur Eau De Parfum (0.7 ml) - I wasn't a fan of this particular scent as it didn't mesh well with my body chemistry. I couldn't wait to shower to wash it off.

Yves Rocher Ultra-Rich Shower in Magical Shea (30 ml) - It came out as a thick cream in the shower which is messy and not my favourite. The scent was mediocre and this is limited edition as it launched right before the holidays.

Degree Men 24H Deodorant in Arctic Edge (85 g) - This didn’t last all day on me and I disagree with all of the claims. This didn’t even last 4 hours on me before I had to reapply. The scent wasn’t my favourite and I don’t understand the hype on men’s deodorants when women use them.

Clinique Post-Workout Neutralizing Face Powder (2.4 g) - This made my under eyes look cakey and sickly as it was tinted yellow. I tried to fix it with other products but it looked horrible. I also removed the sponge applicator because the powder is supposed to dispense form the sponge but you have to really apply pressure for a tiny bit to come out.

Disappointing Products | Volume 7

Hey everyone! I wanted to share 5 products that just didn't work out for me. Let's dive into the details!

Elizabeth Grant Essence of Torricelumn (50 ml) - It did nothing for my skin except leave it sticky and I seen absolutely no difference. It’s very overpriced and overhyped. Also, the logo on the front of the bottle completely rubbed off.

Tom Ford Métallique Eau De Parfum (1.5 ml) - This fragrance doesn’t have very good lasting power even when I spray it 3-4 times in the morning. It fades in the afternoon and this is honestly just a vanilla scent which is super basic.

The Body Shop Born Lippy Strawberry Lip Balm (10 ml) - This had a very artificial smell, didn’t do a great job at hydrating my lips and I was not a fan. This is the older packaging and there’s no way that I would even think about repurchasing the newer packaging.

NYX Control Freak Eyebrow Gel (9 g) - There were white flakes left on my eyebrows from this product that were very noticeable on my dark brown hair. The cap initially began to crack and then it ended up totally breaking. I wasn’t a fan of the product or the packaging. I have an entire dedicated review on this product.

Essence I Heart Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara (12 ml) - This mascara is not great at delivering volume to my lashes but was good at separating them. The wand is pretty big and was hard to use on my small eyes. Not worth the money.

Disappointing Products | Volume 6

Hey everyone! I have come across yet another few products that just didn't work out for me and I want to share them with you!

Trader Joe’s Rich Hydrating Face Sheet Mask (20 ml) - It burned my skin, it felt irritated and hot while on my skin. I only left it on for 10 minutes which was too long and I do not have sensitive skin!

Kōl Fabric Poufs Charcoal Infused (2 Pack) - These unraveled while using them not even a handful of times. If you search up the reviews, they are not looking good and others say the same thing!

Origins A Perfect World SPF 40 Age-Defense Moisturizer with White Tea (15 ml) - I really did not like this product as it felt like a thick sunscreen on my face and I'm pretty sure that it caused me to break out. I read online that they reformulated this for the worse and it didn't feel like a moisturizer at all. I would never repurchase this again and I'm glad that I only have the smaller size of this product.

Origins Cleansing Makeup Removing Jelly (15 ml) - This product really did not do a good job at removing my makeup and I even used this as part of my double cleanse at night. You had to use a lot of product on your face and I even tried using it on dry skin as well as wet skin. I used it as my first cleanse and after double cleansing, there was still so much makeup on my makeup wipe. I would never think of using this product again.

Fourth Ray Mellow Milk Mist (122.75 ml) - The sprayer constantly stopped working on me and I gave up fixing it when I was almost done with the bottle. The writing all around the bottle was coming off and I didn’t care for the product itself. Maybe I just got a bad batch.

Makeup Forever HD Loose Powder (4 g) - This is such a terrible loose powder as it goes on white and the flashback is horrible. Again, I'm glad that I only purchased the travel size version. Also, the sifter is not great either and I ended up removing it because I could barely get any product out of the container when I was tapping it against my table.

Disappointing Products | Volume 5

Hey everyone! It's time for another post of all the products that didn't quite work out for me! Let's dive into the details!

Soft Lips Lip Protectant in Vanilla (2 g) - I used up this product pretty quickly but I'm just over these lip balms from this brand. The product just sits on top of my lips and doesn't really moisturize them. The design completely rubbed off on the tube and some of the words did too. It is a slim packaging which is great to pack in a small clutch or to put in your pocket. I featured this in my Project Pan | Round 12 post.

Morphe Sponge I have been hearing so many beauty gurus talk about this sponge for the longest time and finally tried it out for myself. I would say that it is very disappointing in the sense that it's so hard (even when wet,) to bounce onto your face to a point that it's uncomfortable. I do like the wedged part for baking but that's the only positive that I can think of. I would choose a beauty blender over this any day. This is definitely NOT worth the hype! Save your coins!

Peter Thomas Roth Max Sheer All Day Moisture Defense Lotion SPF 30 (30 ml) - This product was in a kit that I got from Peter Thomas Roth months ago and I wanted to use it up before it expired as there is sunscreen in it. I honestly feel like it made my skin break out and it applied white on my face. I really had to rub it in and it smelled just like I was applying sunscreen on my face. I did like the fact that it came in an airless pump but that's pretty much the only positive about this item. The SPF is rather low for a sunscreen and you can find better out there in my opinion. I featured this in my July Empties | 2019.

MAC Cleanse Off Oil (30 ml) - This product has been talked about in the beauty community for quite some time now but I didn't care for it because it just didn't work the way I thought it would. The pump was super inconsistent, messy and even stiff at times. It didn't break down my full face of makeup the way that I thought that it would and I have tried different oils that cost less money that do a much better job! You can find this product in my June Empties | 2019 post!

Clinique High Impact Lash Elevating Mascara in #01 Black (4 ml) - This mascara was difficult to remove and it isn't even waterproof!  It definitely does flake and it isn't a mousse-like formula like it claims to be. My lashes weren't much better after applying it and it was an overall flop! You can find better at the drugstore!

Disappointing Products | Volume 4

Hey everyone! It's time for another round of all the products that just didn't work out for me for one reason or another!

St.Ives Soothing Oatmeal Sheet Mask (1 count) -
This mask did not smell like oatmeal, it was very messy and it didn’t deliver amazing results to my skin. The Apricot mask is much better in my opinion and you can check out my review comparing the two sheet masks.

Disney Hyaluronic Acid Face Mask (18 ml) - I have a small face and this sheet mask felt rather small for my face which never happens. It was uncomfortable to wear and I noticed no results after using it. I purchased it in Target when it was on clearance luckily because I would have been even more displeased if I had paid full price for it.

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation in #103 True Ivory (30 ml) - I found this foundation to be thick on my face and it claims to be lightweight which I disagree with. It also says that it helps with shine control which is not true because I have very oily skin and I was still shiny throughout the day. I didn't really care for the liquid mousse consistency and I felt the need to use a brush to apply it onto my face. I wasn't a fan and I would never use this foundation again.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Micro Cleansing Foam (30 ml) - This is honestly one of the worst face washes that I have ever used. It reminds me of using soap and water to cleanse my face. My skin feels stripped and dry after using this cleanser. They have changed the packaging online but I'm not sure about the product. I will never repurchase this cleanser again. I purchased this at the Estee Lauder Warehouse Sale | September 2018.

Sephora Pineapple Nose Mask (1 count) -  I did not notice any difference after using this nose mask. I originally thought that it was supposed to pull out blackheads and/or whiteheads but it just claims to help minimize pores. It was also very messy to use and there are two layers that you have to peel off. I had to use my nail to peel them off and the second layer is very difficult to remove. I ended up moving the mask off my nose trying to peel off the second layer and it was more work than what it's worth for no results.

Disappointing Products | Volume 3

Hey everyone! Welcome to another update on some disappointing products! I have set 5 aside for you to share my thoughts on so let's get started!

Equate Professional White Whitening Strips (20 EasyFit Treatments) - These were definitely the worst white strips that I have ever used in my life and they are not a dupe for the Crest 3D White Strips. I will never repurchase these again and they have a weird scent to them as you are peeling them out of the packaging. They also split on me while removing them and they didn’t even do a great job at whitening my teeth. They are definitely affordable but I would rather just splurge a bit more to get a better product that I know will do the job rather than pick these up at Wal-Mart to get white strips that are less effective.

Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist (200 ml) - The main reason why I even picked up this product in the first place was because I was browsing the different setting sprays and facial mists on the Sephora website. I noticed that this one was a great price and you got a generous size of 200 ml. I don’t like the sprayer as the product often comes out in large droplets on my face and is usually inconsistent. I only use this at night in hopes of finishing it up soon and I really seen no difference in my skin. Also, they increased the price by $2 on this product since I last purchased it in early December and if you want a more detailed review, check out the one linked that was written by me a few months ago!
Update: Sephora Canada no longer has this item and I found it at Ulta.

Estee Lauder Nutritious Vitality 8 Radiant Energy Mist (30 ml) - You would have seen this product in my Estee Lauder & L'Oreal Warehouse Sale Haul | March 2018 but I did not do a dedicated review on this facial spray because it has been discontinued. I honestly feel like it didn't do anything to my face it was definitely not worth $20 which is the price that I paid for it. The bottle is small compared to the one by Juice Beauty and there's probably a good reason why it was discontinued in the first place.

Bath & Body Works Sheet Masks (20 g/0.7 oz per mask) - I really don't care for their sheet masks and many of them do have an odd scent to them. I really saw no difference in my skin after using several sheet masks by them. Check out my blog post where I was Testing All The Bath & Body Works Sheet Masks.

Smashbox 24 Hour CC Spot Concealer (2.5 ml) - I dislike this product for many reasons. The first one being that is hard to get ahold of as I spoke to an online rep on the Smashbox website and she let me know that it is no longer carried in-stores. You can only get it online from the Smashbox website I believe. It is $20 for one bottle and you only get 2.5 ml of product which is nothing. I understand that this is a spot concealer but that's crazy! My last reason is that the packaging is so messy and you want to put this in a plastic bag if you travel with it because it can possibly spill everywhere in your makeup bag or purse. Overall, I say pass on this product because there's too many cons that outweigh the pros. I did feature this in my Estee Lauder Warehouse Sale | Winter 2017 haul.

Disappointing Products | Volume 2

Hey everyone! I really enjoyed writing my first volume of this series and I decided to continue on with it! Here is the second edition and if you haven't done so already, make sure to check out Disappointing Products | Volume 1.

ELF Hydrating Gel Melt Cleanser (40 g) -
I did not like this cleanser for multiple reasons. It did not break down my makeup good enough even when used first between two cleansers. Also, I did not like the texture of the product and I felt that it was just smearing my makeup all over my face without removing it. It is affordable and multiple people told me that they found it at the Dollar Tree but I would not use this product again. You can see me doing an entire demo using this product on my YouTube channel.
Pretty sure that it's been discontinued.

Essence All About Matt! Compact Powder (8 g) - This powder comes in one shade and claims that it is clear. It definitely isn’t and it leaves a white cast on your face. Anyone darker than me should not even consider this powder. It is a drugstore product that you can purchase for under $5. Also, don’t even think about using this powder when you know that you will be photographed because the flash back can be crazy! Don't forget to head on over to my post called Essence Makeup Review & Swatches for more details on this powder!

Sonia Kashuk Perfecting Luminous Foundation (17 ml) - I really didn’t care for this foundation for several reasons. First, it has an odd scent to it that I do not like. Secondly, it barely contains any product and I went through it rather quickly. It is 2 mls more than half of what a standard foundation should contain which is 30 ml. The consistency is too thin and it is light to medium coverage at best. I had to mix it in with another foundation and it is just not worth the hassle for me. It isn’t very cheap and the only positive is that it comes with a pump. I do have an entire dedicated review on this product that you can check out.
Update: This product is discontinued and Sonia Kashuk doesn't sell makeup at Target anymore.

Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser (14 ml) - I know that a lot of people like this product and it got amazing reviews. I personally don’t care for this cleanser because I believe that it dried out my skin. It also doesn’t foam or lather and instead, it starts as a gel. I really disliked that aspect and it claims to be creamy which I disagree with. This would be best suited for people with sensitive skin as this claims to be fragrance-free. This was just a sample I received but I would never purchase the full size version even if I found it on sale.

Estee Lauder New Dimension Expert Liquid Tape (10 ml) - I really didn’t care for this product. It has very specific directions on how to use it online and on the Estee Lauder website, it didn’t receive very many favourable reviews. I purchased this for a few dollars and you can read about it more in my Estee Lauder & L'Oreal Warehouse Sale Prices & Haul post. It is an overpriced product that doesn’t deliver great results in my honest opinion. I did also feature this exact product in my February Empties | 2018 and I can no longer find it on their website so I have a feeling that is has been discontinued.

Nature Republic Real Nature Mask Sheet (Shea Butter) This has to be one of the worst sheet masks that I have ever used. The mask is too big for my face, the essence looks like Shea butter lotion, it is too saturated and it burned my skin underneath my lip causing irritation. I almost couldn’t leave it on for the full 20 minutes and couldn’t wait to take it off! My right eye was also watering after just a few minutes of wearing this sheet mask and I could still smell the strong scent while wearing it. I unfortunately threw out this packaging and didn't save it but you can read more about it in my Testing Out 3 Shea Butter Sheet Masks.

Disappointing Products | Volume 1

Hey everyone! I want to say that just because a product didn't necessarily work out for me, doesn't make it a bad product and that you should steer clear of it like the plague. I obviously have my reasons and will let you know down below!

GLAMGLOW SUPERCLEANSE Daily Clearing Cleanser (30 ml) - I do like the formula of this product and it is targeted to those with oily skin which I do have however, the pump is awful on this product. It always gets stuck and if one pump comes out fine, then next one to follow does not. That is why it is solely in this post. Pretty sure my bottle is the old packaging.

Derma Blend Long Wear Makeup Remover (30 ml) - I received this as a free sample from the Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Boutique and I also do have an entire blog post dedicated to this product. Overall, it is terrible and I was actually scared to test it out again after it stained my sink the first time. This is the old packaging.

Forever Young by Jean Pierre Makeup Removing & Cleansing Wipes (25 count) - I basically only bought these wipes for the Halloween related packaging. These are fragrance free but they do have an odd smell to them. The wipes I found to be very thin and I didn’t enjoy using them on my face. I will stick to using them to remove swatches. I also bought them at Winners because they were very affordable at only $3.

L’Oreal Visible Lift Blur Concealer in 302 Light (30 ml) -You are actually getting a lot of product in this tube because usually, there is only half of that if not less. However, this I feel like made my makeup cake up throughout the day and it was messy to apply as the hole where the product dispenses out of is rather large. This is a more medium coverage concealer and the shade range is terrible as they only have 3 selections to choose from. This product is very difficult to find online and I have not seen it in the drugstores in Canada. This makes sense that it may have been discontinued because I picked mine up at the L’Oreal Warehouse Sale.

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Mascara in 01 Extreme Black I purchased this at the Estee Lauder Warehouse Sale and it was only $4. My issue with this mascara is that the wand is very thick and large making it hard to coat my small eyes. The mascara always looks clumpy on my lashes no matter how I apply it and I just dislike this mascara overall.

Avalon Organics Nourishing Lavender Conditioner (325 ml) - I did not like this conditioner because it did not lather and it felt like I was applying a thick cream into my hair. The lavender scent was very faint also. This is the old packaging and that must have been the reason why it was on sale at RCSS.

Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Eye Shadow Palette These shades were not very pigmented and there is only 1 matte eyeshadow in the entire palette. This isn’t amongst my favourite and I have an entire review on my blog if you want to see swatches. I returned this therefore it is not pictured above.
