Battle Of The Setting Sprays

Hey everyone! Today we will be talking all about three different makeup setting sprays! I have been using setting sprays for a few years now and wanted to share some points with you!

ELF Makeup Mist & Set - $3.00 USD (2.02 fl oz)

Pros:
- Inexpensive
- Moisturizing
- Lasts all day
- They fixed the nozzle from where the mist comes out of and now, it evenly disperses on the face when you press down
- Holy grail item!

Cons:
- One bottle lasts me anywhere from 1 month to a month and a half
- Can be hard to find in stores!
- The scent isn't that great

Pros:
- Gives a matte finish to the skin
- Lightweight formula
- Easy to apply and is effective
- Doesn't break out my skin
- Is suitable for wearing outside when it is humid (it tends to hold up most of the time)

Cons:
- The nozzle can be improved as it tends to squirt out sometimes
- The black packaging really gets dirty when applying makeup! (as seen in the photo above)
- The smell of the actual product can be improved

Pros:
- Gives a matte finish
- Long lasting
- Award winning
- There is a nice variety of setting sprays online to choose from depending on your skin type
- Makeup artists use this product as it is reputable

Cons:
- A more expensive setting spray
- Can only buy online or makeup conventions (IMATS & others)
- I find myself still needing to touch up sometimes throughout the day

Overall
I tend to use my ELF Makeup Mist & Set before I go to work or when I'm running errands. I like to use my Skindinavia Oil Control Finishing Spray for special events or when I'm going out at night. It feels luxurious on the skin and it makes me feel good! As far as the NYX Matte Setting Spray, I use it here and there but I find myself reaching for the other two sprays more often. I just hate how dirty the packaging gets after I blend my foundation and reach for it, it gets filthy! Just my personal opinion.

Tip: Spray your face after you apply all your face products and apply mascara after you spray! If you spray your face at the very end of your entire makeup application and the mascara isn't waterproof, it can ruin your eye makeup giving you racoon eyes when it runs underneath!

Until next time,

STAY CLASSY.

  1. Great review, another factor I take into account is how safe the product is for my skin, where it's made. The NYX and Elf sprays have labels made in China, which have poor health standards. The Skindinavia spray is labeled made in the USA.

  2. Thank-you Kaitlin! That's an awesome point because different countries have different standards! That goes not just for make-up products, but food products and other items as well!
