The Body Shop's Elderflower Eye Gel Review

Hey everyone! I received a 50% off coupon recently and I went into my local Body Shop store to take advantage of this awesome deal! I decided to purchase the Elderflower Eye Gel because I thought that it could be a potential dupe for the expensive Peter Thomas Roth Eye Patches.

Overview & Price
It retails at The Body Shop for $12 and you are getting 15 ml or 14 grams of product. It does come in a little container which I appreciate because I can see how much product is left inside the clear pot. I also like that there is no fragrance because your skincare shouldn't smell good or have any fragrance in it really. This claims to be both cooling as well as refreshing.

Dupe for PTR Eye Patches?
I have tried the Peter Thomas Roth 24k Gold Eye Patches before and they retail for $92 for 60 patches which gives you 30 uses in total. This product did give my under eyes a cooling sensation but it did not last as long. I used my ring finger to apply this under my eyes and perhaps a small cold metal spoon would be best. I also want to try to store it in the fridge next time I decide to use it. I wouldn't say that this is necessarily a dupe because I felt that the PTR Eye Patches perform better overall. This eye gel is not the same consistency and the method of application is different.

Final Thoughts
I feel like a little bit of this product goes a long way and be careful not to apply too much. Some reviews said that their under eye area felt sticky but they either didn't let it sink into the skin long enough or they applied too much product. It wasn't sticky at all on my face and it wasn't flaky either. If you are on a budget then definitely pick this up rather than the PTR Eye Patches. I don't have dark circles so I can't speak to that. I love that there is no fragrance to it and I will continue to test it out!

I also made sure to get the new Love Your Body card because they have a brand new card and there are more member perks!

I really do like Elderflower and I once had it in a mojito which tasted delicious! If you want to find out more about it, I do have an entire blog post on it where I speak about the Benefits of Elderflower.

The Benefits of Elderflower

Hey everyone! In August, I had a mojito that had an interesting ingredient called Elderflower inside. I wanted to learn more about it and that is when I did a quick Google search. I found many amazing benefits that I wanted to share with you today!

What Is It?
Elderflower comes from the flower of the tree. The extract of the flower is what is used to make medicine. The flowers and the berries can be used but the leaves, roots as well as sticks, should not be used whatsoever. There are different species of the Elderflower plant and interested enough, 10 identified species are found right right in North America!

Benefits:
- Used in traditional medicine in different countries and in various cultures
- Known for its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties (can use as a mouthwash or a gargle)
- Typically used for colds, the flu and sinus infections
- Can help manage allergies and boost your immune system
- Can help reduce pain and swelling in the joints for those suffering with certain forms of arthritis
- Apparently it can help with constipation (it acts as a diuretic/laxative)
- Allegedly, it can act as insulin and help reduce blood sugar levels

Using & Consuming Elderflower:
I wasn't able to find any Elderflower supplements and that is why I purchased that tea instead. As mentioned earlier, Elderflower can be used as a flavouring component in food and drinks such as my mojito. Elderflower extracts can be found in perfumes and Elderflower water is used in the eyes (to reduce redness) as well as on the skin.
