Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash First Impression

Hey everyone! Today I decided to try out a product that I have been hearing everyone and their mother talking about lately which is the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara. It is apparently inspired by hair rollers.

As you can tell if you compare the first two photos at the top, it did in fact curl my lashes upwards and I did not use an eyelash curler at all because I wanted to see how well this mascara performed without it. Keep in mind: naturally, I have long lashes that are straight and have no curl to them. It did in fact lengthen my lashes but in reality, I look for a good mascara that can add a ton of volume, not so much for length.

I like that it is build-able and I don't have any complaints about the brush head. Just to note: it did stay on my lashes for the entire day and I had little to no fall-out before washing off my makeup. It is not a waterproof formula and taking it off is not a problem. Keep in mind that I did wear this mascara for 8-10 hours today. The photo below is to show you how it wore throughout the day and I did not touch it up once. It did in fact loose a little bit of the curl as the day dragged on but it did not smudge on me which is even more important in my books. It did in fact flake every so slightly underneath my eyes though.

This mascara retails for $31 CAD at Sephora for the full size. I'm not sold on it quite yet but I did like the results that it gave my lashes. I do think that it is a fun concept but it strikes me as being somewhat of a gimmick at the same time. I think that if I used this particular product in conjunction with a volumizing mascara that I would love it a lot more!

Benefit Boutique in Toronto Experience

Hey everyone! A few weeks ago, I went to the newly opened Benefit Boutique on Yonge St. When I was walking up to the actual store, I noticed a sign on the pavement that mentioned that with any purchase of a product in-store, you will receive a free brow wax! I originally went there to give my brows some TLC so I was intrigued by that.

As I walked in they offer you a menu of their services so you can glance it over and purchase off the menu depending on what you have in mind.

As I looked around, I couldn't help but notice that the store had such a cool concept and there was a lot of pink. There is a modern yet old-feel to the boutique. Their branding is EVERYWHERE, even on their Tweezerman tweezers. I was browsing around and decided to try-out the Benefit Porefessional because I had heard nothing but great reviews about it.

I then sat down for my brow wax.

Keep in mind, I haven't let anyone touch my brows in more than a decade because I had a horrific experience when I was younger. The woman who waxed my brows right before I went to my middle school graduation, completely ruined the shape of them and left one completely straight while the other one was a very arched semi-circle. Needless to say, I cried before my graduation and vowed to never let anyone touch my brows ever again, other than myself that is.

I heard nothing but amazing things about their Brow Bar so I decided to give it a fair chance. They do something called Brow Mapping in which they determine the best shape for your brows given your face shape and how you want your brows to look like. They mark down the highest point of the arch, where the tail should end and the front part of your brow They then show you what they mapped out for you and then you tell them if you like it; if you don't like it, they will fix it for you and if you do in fact like it, they will begin waxing your brows.

My brow technician was fabulous and very meticulous. She did such a great job and I will definitely be coming back. She wasn't rushed and made sure to give me what I had asked for. She even asked if I wanted my brows to be filled in and I declined because I was heading to work. She just ended up filling the tails of them in.

When I was checking out, they offer you complimentary chocolate with sea salt. There is both dark and milk chocolate. They were delicious! They also gave me a sample of the Roller Lash to try at home. I plan on doing a first impression of this mascara in the near future. I also booked my complimentary brow wax during my birthday week and they are very efficient about it because I quickly received an email with the appointment confirmation.

I also appreciate the fact that there are tipping envelopes at the front cash so you can discretely put in the amount that you wish to tip and then hand it to your brow technician. There is also the option to tip using the debit/credit terminal. They really do go above and beyond here! I was thoroughly impressed and can't wait to go back! Great job ladies!

Quick tip to anyone that visits this boutique: If you are driving, just park on any of the side streets for free instead of paying at the meter on Yonge. Just don't leave your car on the street for too long!

STAY CLASSY.
