Hey everyone! I recently picked up the Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation from the L'Oreal Warehouse Sale and I wanted to put it to the test!
Packaging
This is a nice sleek bottle with a clear top and a pump which I really do appreciate. I do love the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation but I hate that you have to pour it out of the bottle and that it doesn't come with a pump. Of course you can add one on but it's much easier it the product already comes with a pump. There is a clear cap that protects the blue pump which is both good and bad. It is great because it works well with the design but isn't so good when you can see the leftover foundation all on the cap as well as on the pump.
The Claims
This claims to be for all skin types and that it is medium to full coverage. It also says that it gives an all-day, flawless coverage and gives you better looking skin in 3 weeks. It is described to be an oil-free, long wearing foundation that helps your skin look better the longer that you actually wear this foundation. Inside the formula is an antioxidant called Actyl C which is a more stable form of Vitamin C because most of us know that Vitamin C in topical forms is not very stable. It is supposed to help reduce the appearance of any: redness, dullness, spots and bumps on the face. Overall, using this foundation will give you brighter, more even and smoother skin.
Shades & Price
I purchased mine in the shade Classic Ivory #20. There are 14 shades to choose from but as for the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation, there are 24 shades in total. Furthermore, the Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth Foundation offers 16 shades and the Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Foundation Stick has a total of 8 shades. Since I purchased my bottle at a Warehouse Sale, I only paid $4 for it. It retails on the Ulta web site for $11.99 USD and you are getting 30 ml or 1 fl oz of product.
How It Wore Throughout The Day
Originally, I applied 2 layers of the foundation onto my skin and used about 5 pumps in total. I used a beauty blender to apply it and I felt that the sponge absorbed a lot of the product. I felt like the shade that I purchased (Classic Ivory) had too much of a pink undertone and wasn't a great match. I will use this as a mix-in foundation in the future. However, I immediately liked how it looked on my skin and I agree that it is a buildable coverage that you can build up until you get a full coverage look. It has a satin finish and felt comfortable on the skin as time went on.
It wasn't the most lightweight foundation that I have ever used though and looked slightly cakey on the skin before setting it with powder. I was very oily after 6 hours of wear but I blotted and the foundation wasn't breaking up on my face. After the night wore on, I realized that the foundation didn't have much of a pink undertone comparing to when I first put it on.
Is It Worth The Money?
I think that next time I wear it, I would definitely apply it with a brush rather than a sponge and I feel like the pros outweigh the cons. I definitely feel like this foundation would be too thick and wouldn't wear well on people with dry skin. Overall, I thought it held up and that it wasn't a bad foundation to use. I will definitely be using it again in the future and you can't beat the price that I paid for it!
